Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 DNR LOGISTICS PACE (1720 MS)

In accordance with the HRV Elevated TCO2 Levels Policy Majaliner was detained on-course for blood sampling three hours post-race.

Foolish Pleasure was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight prior to utilising the sprint lane.

Kosimo was held up inside the final 100m.

Jordan Leedham, driver of Stanbyme, was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using the whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion inside the final 200m.

Bide Our Time underwent post-race veterinary and endoscopic examinations at the request of connections which failed to reveal any significant findings (Grade 1 EIPH).

RACE 2 SCHWEPPES TROT (2240 MS)

Alluring Tyron NZ pulled hard during the middle stages.

Homonym NZ broke clear of interference passing the 200m.

Alluring Tyron NZ was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stage of the straight.

RACE 3 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE (1720 MS)

Eva Mateo pulled hard during the early and middle stages.

Von Art NZ contacted the final marker peg prior to utilising the sprint lane. This occurrence was reviewed prior to the declaration of all clear and as Stewards were satisfied it had no bearing on the final placings no further action was taken.

RACE 4 – WHAT THE HILL @ WOODLANDS STUD CARLOTTA'S PRIDE TROTTERS FREE FOR ALL (GROUP 3) (1720 MS)

Lady In The Sky NZ was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Aldebaran Crescent revealed the mare to be displaying signs of lower airway respiratory disease. Connections advised Aldebaran Crescent will be treated accordingly.

RACE 5 - COBBITTY LODGE VICBRED PACE (2240 MS)

Lochinvar Jag was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Shoshone Brave contacted marker pegs rounding the final turn.

Post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Kissmelvis revealed the gelding to be displaying Grade 3 EIPH. In accordance with HRV Policy, Kissmelvis will now be stood down from racing for a period of 28 days, until trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards and a veterinary certificate being furnished.

RACE 6 – HERO CLAIMING PACE (1720 MS)

Khaki Nui NZ was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight prior to utilising the sprint lane.

Would You Mind NZ was held up inside the final 200m.

Doubtless Bay NZ was claimed out of this event by M Leppard, W Leppard, D Leppard and R Spice.

RACE 7 – THE BIG SCREEN COMPANY PACE (2240 MS)

Cherokee Joe was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight prior to utilising the sprint lane.  

Cherokee Joe contacted the final marker peg upon utilising the sprint lane.

Mighty Flying Art NZ pulled hard during the middle stages.

Rick Reilly NZ was held up inside the final 100m.

Chris Alford, driver of Allshookup, was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding. Mr Alford explained that he felt the recent frequent racing had taken its toll on Allshookup and the gelding may benefit by a brief let up. Post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Allshookup failed to reveal any significant findings.

RACE 8 – TAB ITALIAN CUP (2240 MS)

Ozzie Battler pulled hard during the early and middle stages.

Greg Sugars, driver of Triple Eight NZ, explained he was satisfied with the performance given the exceptionally fast final half of 53.9 seconds. Mr Sugars further added that Triple Eight NZ cast its off fore shoe during the event.

RACE 9 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (2240 MS)

Nephew Of Sonoko hung in and contacted marker pegs approaching the 200m.

Beau Garcon and Ultimate Stride NZ locked wheels approaching the 150m.

Chris Lang, trainer/driver of Ultimate Stride NZ explained the horse over-raced when positioned outside the leader which he felt contributed to the performance. Post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination of Ultimate Stride NZ failed to reveal any significant findings.

RACE 10 – DEL RE NATIONAL FOOD GROUP PACE (1720 MS)

The start of this event was delayed to avoid a clash with Race 2 from Cannington.

Romany Brown was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Believe In Forever hung out under pressure inside the final 200m.

Wyattflynn was held up inside the final 100m.
