Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – SHANE & SHARON SMITH MECHANICAL REPAIRS SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
Rocking Wroxton galloped clear of interference when leading near the 1300m resulting in Lilbitahenrytee and Tell Us We Dream being inconvenienced. Lady Monica was checked with that mare galloping in consequence. Considering the recent record of Rocking Wroxton, the gelding was stood down from racing until trialling satisfactorily on one occasion.
Rocking Wroxton then pulled hard during the middle stages.
Fomo (3rd place) was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and in the early part of the home straight.
Tell Us We Dream gave ground over the concluding stages.
RACE 2 – ASHWOOD RACING STABLES SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (2190 MS)
The start was momentarily delayed to enable Stewards the opportunity to inspect a section of the track past the 400m.
Auckland Lass paced roughly during the early part of the score up, was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Auckland Lass pulled hard during the early and middle stages.
Mexican Standoff pulled hard and hung out when positioned three back on the marker pegline during the early and middle stages. A warning was issued against the racing manners of Mexican Standoff for hanging. Mexican Standoff gave ground over the concluding stages.
Seeking Amnesty paced roughly in the early part of the home straight.
RACE 3 – ZHODARNAH PARK SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
Golden Scribe which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy. These examinations revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Eezee Street galloped briefly during the score up before regaining its position at the start and the mare was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
The Mach Army hung in passing the 400m.
Eddy The Best hung out approaching the winning post with one lap remaining. Eddy The Best again hung out in the home straight on the final occasion, resulting in Rocknroll Ranger (1st place) which had been held up being able to obtain a clear run. Considering the extent to which Eddy The Best hung out and the consequential affects, Eddy The Best was placed on its last chance to race truly.
Due to the shift outwards by Eddy The Best inside the 100m, Eezee Street was taken wider causing Puopolo and Golden Scribe to be inconvenienced.
RACE 4 – MALLEE BEARINGS SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK FINAL (2190 MS)
A Rocknroll Jet was out of position at the start despite the efforts of its driver and a warning was issued against the barrier manners of the gelding.
Approaching the winning post with one lap remaining Ozzie Daybreak hung out slightly resulting in Have A Crack being inconvenienced and making incidental and slight contact with the offside sulky wheel of Ozzie Daybreak.
Jordie Dee pulled hard when positioned outside of the leader and then gave ground over the concluding stages. As Jordie Dee gave ground, Ozzie Daybreak and Northern Terror were inconvenienced passing the 400m.
Keayang Alex hung out marginally near the 300m and made contact with the near side sulky wheel of Have A Crack causing Keayang Alex to gallop, which resulted in Dontshowyouraces and A Rocknroll Jet being severely checked. Ozzie Daybreak was also checked, and Royal Cadence was inconvenienced resulting in its driver Luke Watson becoming unbalanced in the sulky and his left foot momentarily dropping. Given the racing manners of Keayang Alex and the consequential affects of the incident, a warning was issued against the racing manners of Keayang Alex.
RACE 5 - AARON BAIN RACING SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
The all clear was delayed at the request of Andrew Vozlic, trainer of Dougs Cino (2nd place) to allow Michelle Phillips, driver of Dougs Cino to view the footage in the home straight. After viewing the footage, Ms Phillips was satisfied that there were no grounds for protest and all clear was declared on the Judges’ placings. Upon review it was established that Dougs Cino was held up for a clear run rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight before obtaining a late clear run to the inside of the leader and eventual winner Glam Rock.
Chloe Ann, Our Holla Star and Frankntank were all held up for a clear run in the home straight.
Glam Rock was detained on course for approximately 3 hours for post-race blood samples to be obtained.
Stewards intend to review the wagering data on this event.
RACE 6 – 1800 GOT JUNK? SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
Wesaidso galloped clear of interference racing into the first turn and was placed on its last chance to race truly.
Terror To Rock was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn.
RACE 7 – PIRANHA MEDIA SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
A false start was declared due to an apparent gear issue with Orama which had failed to score up. It was established that the mare had got its tongue over the bit and therefore no further action was pursued.
Goodtime Maddie hung out during the score up.
Overpowering pulled hard during the middle stages when positioned behind the leader.
Goodtime Maddie hung out racing down the back straight on the first occasion.
Sarah Bonus hung out whilst leading through the middle and latter stages.
Rounding the final turn, Overpowering paced roughing before galloping clear of interference which resulted in the following horses being checked to varying degrees; Orama, Blazing Beauty, King Solomon NZ and Goodtime Maddie. Orama and Blazing Beauty locked sulky wheels, were severely checked and lost all chance thereafter. Overpowering was placed on its last chance to race truly.
RACE 8 – SUNRAYSIA BLINDS & AWNINGS SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
The all clear was delayed at the request of driver Michelle Phillips (Murranji Track – 2nd place) to allow her the opportunity to view the footage in the home straight and after doing so Ms Phillips elected not to proceed any further with a protest. It was established inside the 50m Nationaldraft (B Devcic) shifted out slightly, however no impediment was caused to Murranji Track. Boris Devcic, driver of Nationaldraft was cautioned for an apparent lack of control.
Boris Devcic, driver of Nationaldraft was cautioned for allowing that gelding to shift in contacting and dislodging a marker peg racing into the first turn.
Murranji Track pulled hard during the middle stages when positioned outside of the leader.
Boris Devcic, driver of Nationaldraft was fined $200 under rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip in the home straight with more than a wrist only flicking action.

Boris Devcic, trainer and driver of Nationaldraft (1st place) explained that he had been more than satisfied with the gelding’s two runs back from a spell, that Nationaldraft had recently trialled well and was aided by leading in this event. Swab samples were obtained from Nationaldraft.
RACE 9 – THEILL PIPELINES AND BORING SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
Good Onya which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy. These examinations revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Elizabethan Era pulled hard during the middle stages and then tired to be beaten approximately 54m for a which a warning was issued.
Partywithmach galloped clear of interference near the 1400m, trailed the field thereafter and the mare was placed on its last chance to race truly.
Rays Daughter (2nd place) was held up for a clear run approaching the home straight.
RACE 10 – HAPPY VALLEY STORE ROBINVALE SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK MAIDEN (1790 MS)
Jessies Gift which was having its first race start was out of position at the start and was slow to begin from barrier 2. Jessies Gift was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
Jessies Gift pulled hard during the middle stages.
Rounding the final turn, El Queso hung in slightly despite the efforts of its driver and in doing so locked sulky wheels with Bowled Gary causing both horses to be checked. Due to the minimal movement involved no further action was deemed necessary.
RACE 11 – VALLEY FRESH EXPORTS SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
White Star Peejay pulled hard during the score up.
Overreaction pulled hard whilst leading through the middle stages.
Fiftyshades Cresco, Flame Buster and Apache Wind were held up and had difficulty in obtaining a clear run in the home straight.
RACE 12 – THE FRESH CONNECTION SUPPORTS PACING FOR PINK (1790 MS)
Only In Rome NZ which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy. These examinations revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Martha Lavinia underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
Luke Watson, driver of Headbanger was cautioned for his left foot coming away from the sulky footrest at the entrance to the home straight.
