Fiftyshades Cresco (Michelle Phillips) was held up during the early stages of the home straight prior to obtaining clear running.

RACE 2 VERDE AT THE GATEWAY PACE (1790 MS)

The start of this event was delayed six (6) minutes due to a sulky change required on Tell A Tall Story.

Somedeal Safari broke gait during the score up however was in position when the start commenced. Somedeal Safari will continue to be drawn right outside the draw in future mobile start events.

El Banco was slow to begin.

Luke Watson, driver of Turnthetables ($5.00) which raced fiercely outside the leader throughout the event prior to yielding ground rapidly from the 600m to finish in 10th and last position beaten 139.6m was queried into the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Watson attributed the performance to the geldings poor racing manners in racing fiercely despite his efforts to restrain. Turnthetables will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no significant findings other than a slow recovery.

Tell A Tall Story was checked and taken back between the 600m and 500m when positioned behind the weakening Turnthetables.

Sam Barker, driver of Somedeal Safari ($9.00) which finished in 9th position beaten 75.9m was queried into the overall performance & tactics adopted upon the gelding which raced fiercely & three (3) wide throughout the event prior to yielding ground from the 400m. Mr Barker advised the gelding took charge after the start and despite his efforts to restrain the gelding on various occasions. Somedeal Safari will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion. A post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Valbarann will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Connor Clarke, driver of Lovely Lily ($3.50) which finished in 9th and last position beaten 278.7m was queried into the poor performance of the mare after racing outside the leader throughout and prior to yielding ground rapidly from the 500m. Mr Clarke attributed the performance to the mare racing without cover with the consistent speed throughout. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed the mare to be displaying a slow recovery.

James Herbertson, driver of Dougs Cino ($2.70 fav) which finished in 7th and last position beaten 54.4m was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the mare after racing outside the throughout and prior to yielding ground rapidly from the 400m. Stonebridge Star was checked and lost ground between the 300m and 200m when positioned behind the weakening Dougs Cino.

Prior to the all-clear being announced, stewards reviewed the start of the event and found the errors made by Tropical Storm and Valbarann were as a result of their own tractability. It was further noted that CC Jones NZ, which was drawn in barrier 11 and without a horse forward of it, had encroached forward of the second line at the starting point despite the efforts of its driver however, as there was no advantage gained and the gelding was shortly after restrained, no action was taken and the all-clear was subsequently announced.

Mr Lee advised the mare raced roughly at various stages of the event and failed to handle the track conditions in addition to sucking wind. RACE 11– GOOD DEAL TYRES 3YO PACE (2190 MS)

Stewards inquired into the reasons Jay Miller (Wayne Hill) broke gait and checking Roll The Aces (Daryl Douglas) entering the first turn which in turn hampered Sadie Jayne. After taking evidence from both Mr Hill & Mr Douglas and viewing the available replays it was established that Roll The Aces shifted inwards marginally contacting the offside sulky wheel of Jay Miller as that runner was being restrained and shifted outwards marginally. Due to the minimal shift from both runners and that this incident was not found to be as a result of careless driving, stewards noted the incident.

Yering Soho (Luke Watson) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

RACE 12– MALLEE BEARINGS 3YO & OLDER MAIDEN PACE (1790 MS)
