Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – ROBERT & BRENDA THOMPSON 2YO VICBRED MAIDEN TROT (2190 MS)

Sam Barker the trainer of Paris Jamilla was cautioned for failing to have the gear form accurately recorded for the filly.

Whatareyouthinking (Barrier 2) broke gait during the score up, was out of position at the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Whirlwind Wilbur (Barrier 6) broke gait during the score up, was out of position at the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Jilliby Topgun (Barrier 5) broke gate after the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Muscle Miss (Barrier 1) broke gaie shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. It was reported by driver Jack Laugher that in his opinion his filly shied at the truck positioned on the infield.

Near the 1300m, That Other Thing broke gait free of interference and trailed the field throughout.

Rounding the final turn and on approach to the home straight, Aldebaran Freda hung in and contacted a number of marker pegs. When questioned regarding the lack of vigour displayed over the final stages, Driver Chris Alford explained that he was reluctant to place his filly under any further pressure given that Aldebaran Freda was not comfortable in its gait from the 400m and noted the filly hung in badly rounding the final turn.

RACE 2 VICTORIAN SQUARE TROTTERS ASSOCIATION JOHN ASHBY MEMORIAL 2YO VICBRED MAIDEN TROT (2190 MS)

Macho Maori (Barrier 4) began badly when galloping away and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Near the 300m, Macho Maori trotted roughly for a short distance.

Wyldcat hung in when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

Chris Svanosio, the driver and trainer of Keep Believing was questioned as to the performance of the filly which failed to compete in the early stages prior to breaking gait near the 1300m to finish a tailed last. Mr. Svanosio explained that his filly failed to trot comfortably in today’s event prior to breaking gait. A post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 3 – VICTORIAN SQUARE TROTTERS ASSOCIATION RALPH FORD MEMORIAL 3YO MAIDEN TROT (2190 MS)

Its Not Love Me was declared a late scratching at 11.03am on veterinarian advice.

Ross Graham the trainer of Petite Four was cautioned for failing to ensure the gear form was accurately recorded for the filly.

Brookies Babe (Barrier 8) broke gait during the score up, was out of position at the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. It was further noted that the filly broke gait free of interference near the 1400m.

Herbert (Barrier 2) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. It was further noted that the gelding broke gait on two occasions (1500m and 900m) and was placed on its last chance to race truly.

Petite Four (Barrier 5) broke gait shortly after the start inconveniencing Tubs Now Slim which broke gate as a consequence. Petite Four will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Sir Ed (Barrier 12) broke gait during the score up, was out of position at the start and will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Near the 400m, Mista Walker broke gait free of interference and as a consequence broke its anti-choking device.

Tubs Now Slim which pulled hard during the middle stages broke gait free of interference near the 1250m and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Post-race veterinarian examination revealed the gelding to be displaying an elevated heart rate. Driver Chris Alford explained that in his opinion his gelding choked down as a result of racing keenly.

Nathan Jack the driver of Aroha Koe was cautioned for allowing his gelding to improve into the sprint lane over the concluding stages.

RACE 4 –BLACK HORSE NATURALS TROTTERS HANDICAP FINAL (2190 SS)

A false start was declared at the first attempt when Reigning Lillies (FT) improved and broke through the front tape. Reigning Lillies will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

On the second attempt, Columbias Deecee (FT) Lady Madge Lewis (10m Handicap) both broke gait shortly after the start. Given the false start no direct action was taken. Columbias Deecee broke its head check as a result of the early error and prior to the declaration of the all clear stewards confirmed that the broken gear did occur following the start being activated.

Near the 800m Di Li broke gait free of interference inconveniencing Aldebaran Jaytee. A post-race veterinarian examination of Di Li revealed the mare to be suffering lameness in its right foreleg and acting under veterinarian advice the mare was stood down until a certificate of fitness is submitted.

On the entry to the home straight Mielicki hung in when improving wider on the track.

Reigning Lillies was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

Chris Alford the driver of Kyvalley Heist NZ which finished in 9th position beaten 48.4m ($8.50) was questioned as to the performance of the horse which gave ground over the concluding stages. Mr. Alford noted his disappointment in the run given the good running transit and was unable to offer any genuine excuse. A post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Upon the request from connections Mielicki will continued to be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

RACE 5 -MAJESTIC SON @ ALABAR MATCHMAKER MILE (1609 MS)

Tipsy Turvy (Barrier 1) began badly when galloping away resulting in the trailing Sangreal being inconvenienced. Tipsy Turvy will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Royal Charlotte broke gait when placed under pressure passing the 100m.

RACE 6 – ALDEBARAN PARK REDWOOD CLASSIC (GROUP 1) (2190 SS)

Emma Stewart, the trainer of Susan Is Her Name was fined $200 under Rule 273(6)(b) for failing to ensure the gear form was accurately recorded for the filly. In taking such action stewards were mindful of Ms. Stewart’s recent poor record.

Rickie Alchin, the trainer of Watts Up Partytime was fined $100 under Rule 273(6)(b) for incorrect gear notification.

Uptown Lad (FT) was fractures prior to the start for which a warning was issued.

Susan Is Her Name (FT) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Triumph Stride NZ (FT) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Larr Dees Son (FT) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

The Locomotive (FT) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Mipersonaljet (FT) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Ess Kay Hollywood (FT) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Near the 1900m, Rockinwithattitude and Watts Up Partytime broke gait free of interference.

Near the 1800m, Miss Francene broke gait free of interference.

Near the 500m, Larr Dees Son broke gait free of interference and will now be stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

On the entry to the home straight on the final occasion, Uptown Lad hung in and contacted a number of marker pegs.

Prior to the declaration of all clear the connections of the 6th placed Rockinwithattitude (Driver Jayden Barker/ Trainer David Miles) requested an opportunity to review an incident on the entry to the home straight when suffering interference as a result of the winner Cognati veering wider. Upon review connections declined to object to the placings and the all clear was subsequently announced. Stewards determined that on the entry to the home straight Cognati veered out sharply despite the efforts of its driver Greg Sugars to then contact Rockinwithattitude resulting in that filly being checked and breaking gait which in turn inconvenienced Valerie Lane. In view of the filly’s recent record, Cognati was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial. 

RACE 7 – PETER EGAN BI-RITE ELECTRICAL TROTTERS FREE FOR ALL) (2190 MS)

Following a report that All Cashed Up was cast in the raceday stalls, the horse was examined prior to and following its preliminary and was passed fit to race.

All Cashed Up broke gate on two occasions during the event (1700m and 400m) and was placed on its last chance to race truly. A post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Kyvalley Chief Nz gave ground over the final stages to finish in 9th position beaten 62.1m for which a warning was issued.

Near the 100m Always Ready paced and broke gait.

RACE 8 – ON A STREAK @ HARAS DES TROTTEURS VICTORIA TROTTERS DERBY FINAL (GROUP 1) (2690 MS)

Michelle Philips trainer of Kimora Saffi was cautioned for failing to ensure the gear form was accurately recorded for the filly.

Jungle Eyes (Barrier 4) broke gait shortly after the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Kimora Saffi broke gait on two occasions during the event (entering the first turn and 2100m) and was placed on its last chance to race truly. A Post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its left fore pastern which required treatment. Acting under veterinary advice Kimora Saffi was stood down for a period of five days.

Near the 1400m, Kyvalley Pierro which was racing keenly, improved onto the back and contacted the sulky of Hautacam when the pace in the event was eased. As a result of this incident, Hautacam suffered a flat tyre and was pulled up and retired from the event a short distance later. Upon review stewards noted the contributing factors did not consider this incident to be as a result of any careless driving and therefore the incident was recorded.

Mark Pitt, the driver of You No Ill Be Late was fined $200 under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that on the entry to the home straight when directing his colt inwards to utilise the sprint lane, he made contact with the near side sulky tyre of More Wanted resulting in a flat tyre.

Jungle Eyes which was held up for clear running in the early stages in the home straight, broke gait when placed under pressure near the 100m and was placed on its last chance to race truly.

Approaching the winning post on the final occasion, Hephaestus Phoenix broke gait under pressure.

Toro Stride Nz gave ground over the latter stages to finish in 10th position, beaten 119.7m. When questioned regarding the performance, driver Greg Sugars explained that the use made of the gelding and fast rate contributed to the performance of his gelding. A post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. In view of the track record time, no further action was taken other than issuing Toro Stride NZ with its last chance to race competitively.

RACE 9 – ALDEBARAN PARK GOLD BRACELET (1690 MS)

Wish Upona Dream was declared a late scratching 11.38am on veterinarian advice.

Near the 400m, Ebonys Avenger broke gait free of interference inconveniencing the trailing Revelstoke.

Near the 400m, Lady Adelia broke gait free of interference.

Passing the 400m, Be My Star broke gait free of interference.

RACE 10 – JOHN SLACK MEMORIAL TROTTERS HANDICAP (2190 SS)

Builder Bob (10m) began badly when galloping away, trailed the field throughout and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Megeve (10m) began badly when galloping away, trailed the field throughout and will now be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Down Under Earl (10m) began badly when galloping away and will continue to be excluded from the standing start barrier draw.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, Overandout broke gait free of interference and again when placed under pressure over the final stages. Given the geldings record a warning was issued.

Keayang Xena pulled hard during the middle stages.

Aldebaran Huey broke gait on two occasions during the event (800m and passing the 400m). Given the geldings recent performance, Aldebaran Huey will now be stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

Near the 300m Maestro broke gait free of interference.

RACE 11 – ALF SIMONS MEMORIAL TROT (2190 MS)

Jackie Barker was approved as a late driving replacement on My High Peak.

Paul Watson, the trainer of Calders Day Out was cautioned for failing to ensure the gear form was accurately recorded for the mare.

My High Peak (Barrier 2) broke gait during the score up, was out of position at the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. It was further noted that the gelding broke gait free of interference near the 300m.

Calders Day Out (Barrier 4) broke gait during the score up, was out of position at the start, trailed the field throughout and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

A bit of a dreamer (Barrier 5) broke gait shortly after the start, trailed the field throughout and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Im Miss Royalty (Barrier 8) broke gait during the score up, was out of position at the start, trailed the field throughout and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Countless Chiron (Barrier 13) broke gate during the score up, was out of position at the start, trailed the field throughout and will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Sonny Boy raced keenly throughout the event whilst leading.

Post-race veterinarian examination of Calders Day Out failed to reveal any abnormalities other than traces of blood within its mouth.
