RACE 2 ALDEBARAN PARK BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO TROTTING FILLIES) (2ND HEAT) (2190 MS)

Phil Williamson, trainer of Aroha Kenny was cautioned for failing to have the Registration Assessment Certificate available and the gear accurately declared for the filly.

Kerry-Ann Morris, trainer of Aldebaran Bree was cautioned for failing to have the Registration Assessment Certificate for the filly.

Aldebaran Bree and Aldebaran Freda began badly and will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start races. Aldebaran Bree and Aldebaran Freda both lost a significant amount of ground after galloping, and consequently tired over the latter stages to be beaten approximately 150m and 77m respectively. Given the circumstances, inclusive of the 56.4 second final half, Aldebaran Bree was placed on its last chance to race competitively and no action was taken against Aldebaran Freda.

Aldebaran Freda hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 1200m.

Aldebaran Bree hung in and contacted marker pegs at the entrance to the home straight and galloped in consequence.

Bullion Girl tired to be beaten approximately 72m however, given the circumstances, inclusive of the 56.4 second final half, no action was taken for this performance.

RACE 3 – ALDEBARAN PARK BREEDERS CROWN SERIES 25 (2YO TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS) (1ST HEAT) (2190 MS)

Consideration was given to a protest lodged by Rickie Alchin, driver of Watts Up Partytime (2nd place) against Triumph Stride NZ (Chris Lang) being declared the winner alleging interference in the early part of the home straight. On the available evidence it was established that Triumph Stride NZ when inclined to hang in at the entrance to the home straight, was corrected by driver Chris Lang (Triumph Stride NZ) and subsequently shifted out and into the line of Watts Up Partytime. Despite meeting some impediment during this section, Watts Up Partytime then of its own accord shifted out further and away from Triumph Stride NZ. Given Watts Up Partytime then had a clear run to the finish for at least the final 100m and considering the neck margin, Stewards could not be sufficiently satisfied that any interference or impediment in the early part of the home straight was greater than the resultant margin, therefore the protest was dismissed and all clear was declared on the Judges’ placings. At a subsequent inquiry, Chris Lang, driver of Triumph Stride NZ was fined $100 under rule 162(1)(www)(a) for allowing that gelding to shift ground in a manner which impeded Watts Up Partytime.

Aquila Castello galloped during the score up, was out of position at the start and trailed the field thereafter. Aquila Castello then paced inside the 50m when trailing the field. Aquila Castello will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events and was placed on its last chance to race truly.

Larr Dees Son hung out during the score up, was out of position at the start and was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

That Other Thing galloped shortly after the start, trailed the field thereafter and will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

Uptown Lad galloped clear of interference approaching the 1800m.

Prior to the all clear, in accordance with the provisions of VLR 155A(1), Larr Dees Son (5th past the post) was relegated to 6th place, due to being covered by Suga Daddy (promoted to 5th place) as Larr Dees Son had broken gait at the winning post. Stewards were satisfied that Larr Dees Son which had galloped inside the 50m, had not gained an unfair advantage to the detriment of any other horse and therefore all clear was declared on the amended placings: 5,1,3,2,10 & 9. Given the prior record of Larr Dees Son and the extent of the geldings’ gallop, Larr Dees Son was stood down from racing until having completed one satisfactory trial.

Hesallmuscle NZ over-raced during the middle stages when positioned outside of the leader.

Kyvalley Pierro trotted roughly and shifted out approaching the 400m.
