Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 JACINTAS HAIR STYLIST CARISBROOK 2YO PACE (1690 MS)

Techys Watching (Mark Pitt) raced greenly during the early stages of the score up.

Techys Watching broke gait clear of interference approaching the 1400m before regaining its gait and broke gait again a short distance latter. Techys Watching will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion.

Ross Payne, driver of Louie Lou I reported the deafeners failed to release upon the colt when attempted to be activated.

RACE 2 HARAS DES TROTTEURS 3YO TROT (2190 MS)

La Perriere (Antti Ruokonen) broke gait during the early stages of the score up and was out of position when the start was effected. La Perriere will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

Stellar Strut (Ellen Tormey) broke gait during the latter stages of the score up and was out of position when the start was effected. Stellar Strut will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Queen Of Quebec (Chris Svanosio) began badly as the start was effected. Queen Of Quebec will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Mick Blackmore, trainer of Bitta Irish Luck ($4.80) which finished in 6th position beaten 21.6m was queried into the overall performance of the filly. Mr Blackmore contributed the performance to the filly being first up since 24th March 2022 and the quick mile rate. Mr Blackmore added the filly would derive benefit from the performance.

Stewards were mindful of provisions of AHR Rule 15(2) which reads: A horse which is placed first, second, third or fourth including after the determination of any protest shall not be declared a non-starter. In regards to La Perriere which finished in 4th position.

RACE 3 – BRISTOL HILL MOTEL MARYBOROUGH MAIDEN PACE (1690 MS)

Fight For Falby (James Herbertson) was significantly out of position during the score up and when the start was effected. Fight For Falby will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Lets Go Cresco (Daryl Crone) began badly as the start was effected. Lets Go Cresco will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Madam Auckland (Josh Duggan) & Torque Like A Lady (Lochie Cook) were both held up during the early stages of the home straight prior to obtaining clear running.

RACE 4 – OLYMPUS FEEDS AUSTRALASIA MAIDEN PACE (1690 MS)

Social Writer (Ross Payne) was out of position when the start was effected. Social Writer will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events.           

Social Writer was held up during the early stages of the home straight prior to obtaining clear running.

Rustic Rubra (Mark Hayes) & Ideal Jo (Chris Alford) locked wheels momentarily passing the 100m.

RACE 5 - PLYMOUTH CHUBB TROT (2190 MS)

Appearfromnowhere was extremely fractious and jibbed leaving the pre-race circle.

Appearfromnowhere began badly as the start was effected and will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Homonym NZ (Richard Brosnan) raced roughly and broke gait shortly after the start was effected. Homonym NZ will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 6 – RED HOUSE BAKERY MARYBOROUGH PACE (2190 MS)

Declan Murphy, driver of Atego Shades was issued a caution for tightening the racing room of Emjays Black Chip (Chris Alford) entering the first turn.

Beau Bronski (James Herbertson) pulled hard during the middle stages of the event.

Emjays Black Chip failed to obtain clear running for entire length of the home straight.

Mystic Castle (Lisa Miles) broke gait clear of interference inside the final 50m and galloped across the line. Mystic Castle will now be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Stewards delayed the “All Clear” to view the replays and official photo finish image in relations to Mystic Castle 4th past the line in regards to the mare galloping across the line. As the mare was “covered” by Stormont Star & Beau Bronski in accordance with VLR 155A(1) which reads: Nowithstanding the provisions of Rule 154 and 155 any horse which has broken gait free of interference and remains in the incorrect gait when its nose reaches the finish line, and is covered by any other horse or horses in the correct gait it shall be placed behind such horse or horses. All Clear was given on the amended placings. 1st Wyattflynn, 2nd Stir Me Up, 3rd Changeover Girl, 4th Stormont Star, 5th Beau Bronski, 6th Mystic Castle.

Jack Laugher, driver of Eric The Kicker ($6.50) which finished in 10th position beaten 12m after racing outside the leader from the 1300m was queried into the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Laugher contributed the performance to a combination for the gelding being up in grade and the gelding being driven more forward during the middle stages. Mr Laugher added at this stage of the gelding’s career Eric The Kicker may be best driven more conservatively as in its two (2) prior lifetime starts.

RACE 7 – MARYBOROUGH HIGHLAND SOCIETY 3YO PACE (2190 MS)

No Neigh Philtra (James Herbertson) hung inwards during the score up.

Stellar Queen (Kerryn Manning) yielded ground from the 800m to finish in 10th position beaten 53.9m. A warning was issued against the fillies racing competitiveness. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Very Tempting (Glenn Bull) broke gait clear of interference passing the 600m inconveniencing Victory George (Jack Laugher). Very Tempting will now be placed on its last chance to race truly.

Codename Marcus (Ashleigh Markham) hung in under pressure approaching the 200m inconveniencing Chedalayo (Chris Alford). A warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.

John Caldow, driver of Speedy Spida was issued a caution for shifting ground passing the 150m which inconvenienced No Neigh Philtra & Codename Marcus.

RACE 8 – MCPHERSONS PRINTING GROUP PACE (1690 MS)

Cornish Smuggler (James Herbertson) which yielded ground from the 700m to finish in 10th and last position beaten 58.5m will now placed on its last chance to race competitively.

Mark Pitt, driver of Better Day pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip to the gelding on one (1) occasion with a free hand without holding a rein in each hand inside the final 100m.  In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the relevant considerations as outlined within the HRV Stewards Minimum Penalty Guidelines placing particular weight on Mr Pitt’s guilty plea, his forthright evidence and this was his second offence under this rule within the past 28 days. Stewards accordingly imposed a fine of $400.

Michael Stanley, trainer/driver of Mister McLintock NZ ($12.00) which finished in 6th position beaten 15.4m was queried into the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Stanley contributed the performance to the gelding being first up since 29th November 2021 and the gelding enduring significant work from the start until obtaining the lead at the 1000m along with quick mile rate of 1.54.9. Mr Stanley added the gelding would derive benefit from the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 9 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROTTERS HANDICAP (2190 SS)

Stinofawasp (Kate Gath) became extremely fractious prior to the start being effected resulting in the start of the event being delayed. And runners being turned away on multiple occasions. Stinofawasp will now be placed on its last chance in the draw.

Whos Countn (Luke Dunne) began badly as the start was effected inconveniencing Hurricane Ed (Darby McGuigan). Due to the delay the entire will be placed on its last chance in the draw.

Elegant Jet (Lochie Cook) broke gait clear of interference approaching the 700m.

Emdeegee NZ (Daryl Douglas) was held up during the early stages of the home straight.

Trixy Nixie (Chris Alford) & Stinofawasp locked wheels approaching the 200m.

Whos Countn & Stinofawasp locked wheels approaching the 150m severely checking both runners.

RACE 10 – CARISBROOK MOTORS MEMBERS DRAW PACE (2190 MS)

Four Star Saint (Daryl Douglas) pulled hard during the middle stages of the event.

Magic Craft (Lisa Miles) was held up over the latter stages of the event.
