Mr Ford undertook to inform the trainer that remedial work needed to be done to the horses shoeing.
RACE 5 – COLLINS HOMES GRANNY SMITH HEAT ONE–2200 METRES
On return to all clear Driver M Yole (IDEN MISS LUCY) fourth placegetter lodged a protest against the third placegetter LESYA (L Older) alleging interference around the first turn and again in the home straight the final time. After taking evidence from both drivers as well as Trainer C Salter (IDEN MISS LUCY) and Owner B Rattray (LESYA), viewing the films and acting on their own observations Stewards dismissed the protest and gave All Clear on the judges numbers.
After an inquiry into the interference suffered to IDEN MISS LUCY driver L Older pleaded guilty to a charge under AHRR163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference. Particulars were that racing around the first turn he allowed LESYA to shift in when being driven forward and forced IDEN MISS LUCY to race inside several marker pegs. When determining penalty Stewards took into account Mr Olders clear record under this rule and his guilty plea however were mindful that this incident took place racing around the first turn. All Clear was held on this race to allow Stewards to view the replays of the final stages of this event in regard to QUEENOFDANCE NZ which led the event galloping at approximately the 40 metre mark and continuing to gallop across the finish line. Stewards were satisfied that Driver M Yole had taken immediate action to restrain the mare and had not gained an unfair advantage when the mare galloped. As such All Clear was given on the Judges numbers.
At a subsequent inquiry Trainer B Yole was charged under AHRR273(2)(b) for presenting this mare to race in insecure gear after finding that the front carrier strap had came undone which had in turn caused QUEENOFDANCE to step out of its front hopple and gallop.
