Trainers with multiple runners engaged in any race were questioned as to their intended driving tactics.
RACE 1 – CROWN LAGER STAKES– 2200 METRES
AHA REACTION NZ was restrained after the start and pulled hard throughout.
ENDEAVOUR STRIDE underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 78 metres. No abnormalities were detected and the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
SOMEDAN underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 71 metres. No abnormalities were detected and the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
RACE 2 – MAX MCCORMACK – 2200 METRES
ALL FOR DAVE failed to circle unassisted and has been placed on its last chance in future mobile barrier events.
After beginning satisfactorily ROCKNROLL WIZARD has been reinstated in the mobile barrier draw.
After beginning satisfactorily SOFTLY SOFTLY has been reinstated in the mobile barrier draw
RACE 3 – TRAINER ENCOURAGEMENT PACE – 2200 METRES
MISS BARTY was out of position at the start and has been placed on her last chance in the mobile draw.
PRINCELY REIGN was held up early before gaining clear running in the home straight.
JACKSON NEPTUNE was held up early before gaining clear running in the home straight.
Driver R Backhouse (PACIFIC ROCK) was fined the sum of $200 after pleading guilty to a charge of using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion.
A warning was issued to ARTYBOY GLENWOOD who hung out around the last turn and contacted the sulky of HIS DREAM LIVES ON which was hanging in, causing ARTYBOY GLENWOOD to race roughly.
A warning was issued to HIS DREAM LIVES ON for hanging in around the last time.
Drivers M Ford and L Older were advised to take more care in similar situations.
Stewards spoke to drivers B Woodsford (MISS BARTY) and K Williams (PINK PONDER) with regard to the manner Mr Woodsford shifted wider on the home turn obliging PINK PONDER wider on the track. Both drivers were advised to take more care when shifting runners wider in future.
RACE 4 – GO RACING ULVERSTONE CUP –2698 METRES
SHANNONSTHEMAN galloped away and has been placed on his last chance in the standing start draw.
BUSTER WILLIAM galloped away and has been placed on his last chance in the standing start draw.
AQUA SANCTA NZ galloped away and has been placed out of the draw in future standing start events.
MAJOR ASSASSIN tired in the run to the finish to be beaten in excess of 58 metres and has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
VINNY CHASE underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 102 metres. No abnormalities were detected and the gelding has been stood down until the completion of a satisfactory requalifying trial.
AQUA SANCTA NZ underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 91 metres. No abnormalities were detected and the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
EARL JUJON tired in the run to the finish to be beaten in excess of 66 metres and has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
RACE 5 – LADBROKES RACING CENTRE PACE –2200 METRES
REDFOX RAIDER underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 116 metres. No significant finding were detected and acting on the geldings recent race record REDFOX RAIDER has been stood down for 14 days and until the completion of two satisfactory requalifying trials.
SLIDE TO UNLOCK underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 80 metres. After taking into account this mare’s recent race record she has been stood down until the completion of a satisfactory requalifying trial.
After pleading guilty to a charge issued under AHRR168(1)(a), driver R Hadley (BRIDWOOD BELLA) was fined the sum of $100. The particulars of the charge were that in the home straight on the final occasion, R Hadley allowed BRIDWOOD BELLA to shift up the track allowing STAR ROCKER to obtain an inside run which in turn changed the placings.
Stewards queried trainer B Yole regarding the apparent improved performance of LIFEOFBRIAN NZ. Mr Yole stated that he had not been disappointed in the recent form of this gelding and that the gelding had gained a very suitable run in the event tonight and had performed to his expectations. Stewards noted his explanation for future reference.
RACE 6 –CARLTON DRAUGHT PACE –2200 METRES
NINE DIAMONDS was inconvenienced by a tiring runner around the final turn.
QUEENOFDANCE NZ underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 91 metres. No abnormalities were detected and the mare has been placed on her last chance to race competitively.
JOHN RICHARD underwent a post-race veterinary examination after giving ground to be beaten by 50 metres. No abnormalities were detected and no further action was deemed necessary.
After beginning satisfactorily JOHN RICHARD has been reinstated in the mobile barrier draw.
Stewards spoke to trainer N Rattray about the reasons for IDEAL KARALTA racing roughly throughout the event. Mr Rattray stated that he believed that his horse may have been feeling the effects of quick backup from racing, and that he would be using the services of a chiropractor in the very near future and inform Stewards of any other problems that may surface.
RACE 7 – IMPRESS PRINT PACE –2200 METRES
ONEOFTHELADS was caught wide early before being restrained and then pulled hard during the event.
KIVIK was caught wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field.
ONEOFTHELADS was caught wide early before being restrained and then pulled hard during the event.
KIAVINO STRIDE over-raced during the event.
ONEOFTHELADS was caught wide early before being restrained and then pulled hard during the event.
WITH REVENGE NZ was held up and unable to be fully tested.
THE BLACK ASSASSIN was held up and unable to be fully tested.
