Trainers with multiple runners engaged in any race were questioned as to their intended driving tactics.
RACE 1 – CARLTON DRAUGHT TWO YEAR OLD– 1680 METRES
ALWAYS BE BRENDAN was out of position at the start and will continue to be out of the draw in future mobile events.
KOSYGIN LEIS jumped a shadow shortly after the bell and had a tendency to hang in throughout causing it to contact several marker pegs. A warning was issued.
MY LADY SARAH was detained on course for approximately 2.5 hours to enable post race blood samples to be obtained.
RACE 2 – CROWN LAGER STAKES – 2200 METRES
JIMI SANZ jumped the reflection of the winning post the first time and galloped which caused interference to following runners. No action was taken and stewards directed that the door on the winning post be shut for the rest of the meeting.
FLO JO CARVALHO was inconvenienced after the start by a galloping runner.
VELOCITY STRIDE was inconvenienced after the start by a galloping runner.
MAJOR DAVVIN worked forward early to race outside the leader.
SPORTY BEN was detained on course for approximately 2.5 hours to enable post race blood samples to be obtained.
RACE 3 – LADBROKES CLAIMER – 2200 METRES
KIWI BLOKE NZ underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 55 metres which revealed no obvious abnormalities. After taking this geldings recent race record into account Stewards stood the gelding down for 14 days and until the completion of 2 satisfactory trials.
VINNY CHASE pulled hard when leading the event.
ROCKNLACHLAN underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the horses second bleeding attack, the gelding was barred for life.
HICKSTEAD NZ was claimed out of this event by T Hillier of Beauty Point.
After a ballot HELIKAON was claimed out of this event by Mrs A Duggan of Brighton.
A post race swab was taken from the HICKSTEAD NZ who was claimed from the event.
HELIKAON was detained on track for approximately 2.5 hours to allow post-race blood samples to be obtained.
RACE 4 – CHARTLEY ESTATE PACE–2200 METRES
PACIFIC ROCK pulled hard in the score up and was held up in the vital stages.
FURY DAN showed gate speed and withstood a challenge for the lead.
STAR ROCKER was caught wide early before being restrained.
BUSTER BYRON showed gate speed before unsuccessfully challenging for the lead. The gelding then raced outside the leader before giving ground to be beaten in excess of 17 metres. When questioned about the tactics used in todays race driver M Yole stated that this geldings race pattern was to race in a forward position but today was unable to cross the inside runner and was forced to race outside the leader. Stewards noted Mr Yoles explanation for future reference.
VIVID STRIDE was held up and unable to be fully tested.
RACE 5 – LEIS FILLIES & MARES SERIES–2200 METRES
After beginning satisfactorily LESYA has been reinstated in the mobile barrier draw.
MAYS PLACE underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 62 metres, no abnormalities were detected and MAYS PLACE has been placed on its last chance to race competitively. Trainer K Rattray was queried regarding the performance and advised that a blood sample would be taken in the coming days and would inform Stewards of anything of note.
RACE 6 –BEVAN LEES DISCRETIONARY–2200 METRES
EARL JUJON galloped away and has been placed out of the draw in future standing start events.
AQUA SANCTA NZ galloped away and has been placed out of the draw in future standing start events.
TAROONA BROMAC NZ raced roughly shortly after the start.
It was noted that the lugging pole on SHANNONSTHEMAN became detached during the race.
BEAST MODE contacted his own sulky during the event. Trainer B Yole has been instructed to take remedial action to prevent this happening in the future.
DEADLY ASSASSIN tired to be beaten in excess of 74 metres and has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
CALL ME HECTOR underwent a post-race veterinary examination after tiring to be beaten in excess of 66 metres The veterinary surgeon reported that CALL ME HECTOR had tied up during the event and that no stand down period was required.
RACE 7 – LEES ORCHARD PACE–2200 METRES
KIVIK finished the race with a flat tyre
Driver M Ford (OUR BALOU) was fined the sum of $100 after pleading guilty to a charge of careless driving. Particulars of the charge were that he allowed his horse to contact the wheel of KIVIK around the home turn flattening his tyre.
RACE 8 – RARE EARTH STAKES–2200 METRES
JOE NIEN was slightly out of position at the start and was inconvenienced by the preceding runners which locked wheels.
HAYDEN BROMAC NZ was slightly out of position at the start. No action was taken.
RACKETEERS BOY NZ was slightly out of position at the start. No action was taken.
ROCKS ROY locked wheels shortly after the start when CAPTAIN COSMONAUT hung in tightening forcing the gelding down the track.
A warning was issued to CAPTAIN COSMONAUT which hung in after the start.
EQUITY STRIDE hung out slightly after the start and locked wheels with ROCKS ROY.
AHA REACTION NZ was severely checked and broke shortly after the start by the preceding runners.
KADAR was checked after the start by a galloping runner.
ARDEN ROANOKE NZ was held up early before gaining clear running in the home straight.
RACE 9 – LAUNCESTON VETERINARY GROUP STAKES–2200 METRES
WHERE YA BIN NZ galloped away and has been placed out of the draw in future standing starts.
TARLETON RILEY galloped away and has been placed on its last chance in the standing start draw.
PICKLE IT, which galloped away and swung sideways after the start has been placed out of the draw in future standing starts.
STEVIE JOLT broke when checked by the galloping PICKLE IT.
THE BLACK ASSASSIN galloped away and will continue to be out of the draw in the standing start draw.
MACHS MARETA NZ was caught wide early before restraining to the rear of the field.
Driver L Hooper (WE SALUTE YOU) was advised to further modify his whip action to ensure no breaches of the whip rule.
RACE 10 – FAITHFUL PARK STUD PACE–1680 METRES
STAR WATCHING hung out in the run to the finish and has been placed on its last chance to race truly.
THE DUDE NZ obtained an inside run in the home straight.
RANIERI NZ was held up late in the event.

TTC 29-05-2022
Race 10 - An inquiry was held into the reasons RANIERI NZ being out of position as the start was effected. After viewing the replays and taking evidence from Driver M Ford Mr Ford pleaded guilty to a charge under AHRR162(1)(j) and was fined the sum of $100.
Race 10 - An inquiry was held into the reasons HEZ RAZOR SHARP being out of position as the start was effected. After viewing the replays and taking evidence from Driver J Chibnall Miss Chibnall pleaded guilty to a charge under AHRR162(1)(j) and was fined the sum of $100.
CPPC TRIALS – 14-5-2022
Trial 3 - After pleading guilty to a charge under AHRR231(2), driver B Woodsford was suspended for a period of 3 race dates. Particulars of this charge were that Mr Woodsford had verbally abused another driver during this trial using loud and offensive language. Stewards also ordered that a previously suspended fine of $250 issued on 03-04-2022 under the same rule to be invoked.
