HES A TERROR – Hampered leaving the 800 metres, when SHES MY LITTLE GEM hung-out.

ESTHER RISING – Tired over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance, Trainer/Driver B Woodhouse reported that the filly can be inconsistent with her performance and was disappointed with her effort tonight. He added she was probably not suited racing outside the leader being up in grade tonight and would look to drive her differently in future. Given the circumstances, connections were advised she would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

SWEDISH MEATBALLS – Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.

CALL ME DRAGON – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

BILLYSBREDONE– Trainer D Micallef was fined $50 under Rule 210 for not declaring a Driver for the gelding by the required time.

IM OK– Pre-race swab sampled. Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

SHADES OF HEAVEN– Post-race swab sampled.

RACE 5 – MAGUIRE PTY LTD PACE – 1758 metres

MAJOR LINCOLN– Pre-race swab sampled. Tightened for room near the 400 metres and contacted marker pegs, when racing to the inside of COULDNT RECOMMEND, which was taken down the track by DUST TO DIAMONDS, which hung-in. Driver B Jones was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, he stated that the stable were confident of a forward showing in tonight’s field particularly if they were able to lead from the good draw. He added that the gelding had performed well previously when able to lead but the pressure applied by NO RUSHING during the early and middle stages of the race impacted his runner’s ability to be able to finish the race off. He further added that he didn’t believe it was in his runner’s best interests to hand-up the lead to NO RUSHING when it was applying pressure to his runner given its recent form.

COULDNT RECOMMEND– Driver R Coelli was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that near the 400 metres he shifted the fillyout when not sufficiently clear of NO RUSHING which contacted his sulky wheel. Post-race swab sampled.

NO RUSHING – Contacted the sulky wheel of COULDNT RECOMMEND near the 400 metres, when that runner shifted-out. Tired over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Driver J Brown was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding,in particular after working forward three wide in the early stages to obtain the position outside the leader, then him appearing to pressure the leader whilst setting quick sectional times for the first half of the last mile. J Brown stated that the intended tactics were to go forward tonight and allow the gelding to run along, similar to how it had been driven in a previous run when he felt it ran well and felt it should have been able to run out the finish better tonight. He added however after the race he felt he had misjudged the pace somewhat. Stewards issued a charge against J Brown under Rule 149(2) for driving in a manner which in the opinion of the Stewards was unacceptable, in that after working forward three wide in the early stages to obtain the position outside the leader he has allowed his runner to run along too quickly during the first half of the last mile, as a result it has been unable to finish the race off, and has also effected the ability of the leader, MAJOR LINCOLN, to be competitive at the finish. J Brown pleaded guilty to the charge. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration J Brown’s guilty plea, his clear record with regards to this rule over a long period and the particular circumstances of the offence. J Brown had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 4 weeks to commence at midnight the 12th of November. Trainer L Clement reported on the 10th of November that the gelding was displaying symptoms of a virus and he had treated it accordingly.

DUST TO DIAMONDS – Hung-in near the 400 metres taking COULDNT RECOMMEND down on to MAJOR LINCOLN, for which a warning was issued.

RACE 6 – BEN THOMPSON PLUMBING PACE – 1758 metres

COMPLICATED – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

GLENROCK– Pre-race swab sampled. Broke gait free of interference leaving the 1600 metres, given the filly’s record connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1400 metres. Driver R Walker was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the filly, in particular after galloping rounding the first turn him continuing forward three wide to the position outside the leader and then appearing to drive the filly along placing pressure on the leader from after leaving the 1200 metres to leaving the 600 metres. R Walker stated that the filly had been working very well recently and they were confident of a forward showing tonight particularly if they were able to lead. He added that he felt the leader, LORD CHEWBACCA, was hitting its knee at various stages and not racing tractably as a result and felt it may surrender that position. He further added that rounding the turn approaching the 600 metres he felt LORD CHEWBACCA was again not racing tractably in particular at that point and felt he would be able to get to the lead.

TIGER CHEDDAR – Inconvenienced leaving the 1600 metres when GLENROCK broke gait. Caught racing three wide from the start before being restrained to take up a position on the marker pegs at the rear of the field leaving the 1400 metres. Checked approaching the 800 metres when JOLTED LOVER broke gait.

FAMILY TREE– Checked leaving the 1600 metres when GLENROCK broke gait. Raced three wide from the start before being restrained to obtain a position with cover in the running line near the 1400 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

SHIMMYSHIMMYSHAKE – Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.

LOVE AT FIRST BITE – Unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight.

JOLTED LOVER – Broke gait free of interference approaching the 800 metres, given the filly’s record connections were advised that it would be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and would be required to perform 2 re-qualifying trials. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
