Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 BUDS & BRANCHES FLORIST 3YO VICBRED MAIDEN PACE (2180 MS)

A false start was declared at the first attempt when Really Really (Justin Campbell) broke gait during the early stages of the score up and shifted in abruptly despite the drivers efforts making heavy contact with Two Way Wonder (Nigel Milne) and severely checking Shireen (Mark Pitt). Really Really will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events.

A Perfect Dream (Kevin Jnr Weidenbach) yielded ground from the 700m to finish in 12th and last position beaten 115.6m. A Perfect Dream will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion.

Thug Rose (Rita Burnett) yielded ground from the 400m to be beaten 58.4m. Thug Rose will now be placed on its last chance to race competitively.

Stewards refrained taking action against Threehundredcash (Laura Crossland) being beaten 62.2m due to the filly being checked and breaking gait soon after the start was effected.

Ima Charma (Ken Tippet) hung outwards under pressure over the final 200m.

Taylor Ford, driver of Eye See Amour ($6.50) which finished in 8th position beaten 32.6m was queried into the overall performance of the gelding. Ms Ford attributed the performance to the gelding racing wide during the early stages of the event and being restrained to the rear of the field and unable to make up sufficient ground in a quick final half. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Nigel Milne, driver of Two Way Wonder was fined the sum of $100 under AHR Rule 156(3) for applying the whip to the gelding on more occasions than is permitted inside the final 200m.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for Threehundredcash (Laura Crossland) breaking gait shortly after the start was effected. After taking evidence from Ken Tippet (Ima Charma) Taylor Ford (Eye See Amour) & Kevin Jnr Weidenbach (A Perfect Dream) it was established that as the start was effected Ima Charma shifted up the track slightly as Threehundredcash hung inwards and when corrected by its driver Threehundredcash shifted up the track into the racing line of Eye See Amour as it was progressing forward with A Perfect Dream resulting in Threehundredcash being placed in restricted racing room prior to breaking gait. As stewards could not place blame to any one horse nor driver with multiple movements stewards noted the incident.

RACE 2 TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE (2180 MS)

Keepcrackingjokes (Steven Matson) hung outwards approaching the 400m simultaneously as Treacheroustimes (Glenn Bull) hung inwards resulting in both runners’ being inconvenienced.

Our Tempo (Taylor Ford) & Alpha Crucis (Joshua Smyth) were both held up during the early stages of the home straight.

Taylor Ford, driver of Our Tempo was issued a caution for tightening the racing room of Tipofthetongue (Lance Justice) & Keepcrackingjokes when attempting for clear running inside the final 70m.

Keepcrackingjokes was held up for clear running over the latter stages of the event.

Patrick Franklin, driver of Midnight Dancer ($6.50) which finished in 12th and last position beaten 31m after racing outside the leader for majority of the event was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the mare. Mr Franklin advised the mare to be disappointing and attributed the performance to the mare was not suited in racing without cover throughout the event and it would be the stables intentions to drive Midnight Dancer more conservatively when circumstances permit. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 3 – WORLDS BEST HOOF OIL 3YO TROT (2180 MS)

Montana Chevelle (Shane Hall) was out of position when the start was effected. Montana Chevelle will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

Millee (Eddie Tappe) was slow to begin.

Millee broke gait clear of interference approaching the 1700m. A warning was issued against the fillies racing manners.

Its Diamond Creek (Daryl Douglas) broke gait clear of interference approaching the 1200m. A warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.

Prior to the “All Clear” stewards viewed the replays into 3rd past the post Its Diamond Creek when it broke gait at the 1200m it was directed inside the line of marker pegs prior to being directed back outside the marker pegs soon afterwards. Stewards were satisfied Daryl Douglas, driver of Its Diamond Creek had complied with his obligations under AHR Rule 154(1) If a horse breaks gait during a race, its driver shall take immediate action to avoid interference with other runners and without gaining an unfair advantage restrain the horse to its correct gait before rejoining the race without interference to another runner. The All Clear was given on the judge’s placings.

RACE 4 – MC SECURITY TROT FINAL (2180 MS)

Abbie (Eddie Tappe) was out of position when the start was effected. Abbie will now be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events. In taking this action stewards were mindful the mare was placed on its last chance in the draw two (2) starts prior on the 3rd May 2022.

Mystic Chip (Monique Burnett) & Abitofadreamer (Brad Chisholm) were both held up approaching the 200m prior to obtaining clear running.

Abbie shifted out slightly upon straightening resulting in Captain McCraw (Scott Ewan) which was to its immediate outside contacting the offside wheel and racing roughly.

Joe Attard, driver of Buslin Brody reported the deafners failed to release upon the gelding despite his efforts.

Rita Burnett, driver of Ero Carpe Diem ($21.00) which finished in 12th and last position beaten 71.4m was queried into the tactics adopted upon the gelding with Ero Carpe Diem racing three (3) wide throughout the event prior to yielding ground from the 500m. Mrs Burnett advised she was able to obtain a clear run from the second row when runners on the front row began well. Mrs Burnett added she was able to obtain a trail in following Buslin Brody forward at the 1800m when that runner obtained the position outside the leader at the 1600m she attempted to progress forward to occupy that position however Ero Carpe Diem was reluctant to improve forward due to the gelding being one paced despite Mrs Burnett’s efforts and Buslin Brody being restrained to obtain cover. Mrs Burnett advised passing the 1300m she was aware she would not be able to obtain the position outside the leader and took immediate restraint to allow the gelding some respite and applied no pressure to the gelding nor the other runners as she was further aware Kyvalley Surfrider (Chris Alford) was progressing forward four (4) wide at the 1200m at speed. Upon consideration of the matter Stewards were satisfied the tactics adopted by Mrs Burnett in the circumstances were not unreasonable and accordingly took the matter no further. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Two Sock Creek (Ellen Tormey) hung in approaching the 200m and contacted a marker peg.

Alastair Lavros will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion. In taking this action stewards were mindful the gelding was placed on its last chance to race competitively at its most recent start 8th May 2022.

Chris Alford, driver of Theultimate ($8.00) which finished in 5th position beaten 14.2m was queried into the overall performance. Mr Alford attributed the performance to the gelding being first up since 30th December 2021 and would derive benefit from the performance.

RACE 9 – O.K.R - 98.3 FM CLAIMING PACE (1690 MS)

Tiwanaku underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having not started in the preceding 12 months. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Steven Matson, driver of Silky Smooth Excuse NZ ($14.00) which finished in 10th and last position beaten 33.8m was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the mare.
