RACE 1 – HANSON CLEANING SERVICES PACE (1690 MS)
Driver Chris Alford reported that Officially Shady over raced and proved difficult to restrain after leading during the early stages when unsuccessful in his attempt to relinquish the lead to Son Of Zodiac. Mr Alford added that Officially Shady appeared to restrict its breathing and may have choked down momentarily when it lost ground between the 900m and 600m. Officially Shady picked up again for a short distance before giving ground over the latter stages to be beaten 35m in last place. Trailing runner Ringer Russ was inconvenienced as Officially Shady gave ground in the back straight. Mr Alford advised that he would recommend some gear adjustments to assist the racing manners of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and a warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.
It was noted that Island Rocknroll raced roughly under pressure when attempting to improve over the final 400m.
Driver Tim Doherty (Funnily Enough) was fined $200 under rule 156(2)(a) for his unapproved whip use after applying the whip to his drive with more than a wrist only flick action during the early stages of the home straight.
Driver Kevin Jnr Weidenbach (Well Well) was issued with a caution for the manner in which he shifted ground outwards in the home straight while held up for a clear run behind Lotakevi which resulted in some inconvenience to Heidi Go Seek which was racing to his immediate outside.
Gotta Go Gladys was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and during the early stages of the home straight.
Ringer Russ was held up and unable to obtain clear running over the latter stages.
RACE 2 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY 3YO TROT (2180 MS)
David Murphy failed to appear in the race book as the driver of Scar.

Driver Chris Alford (Captain Barnato) was cautioned for using his whip outside the confines of the sulky rounding the final turn.
Delta Village tired leaving the back straight on the final occasion with trailing runner Beach Heaven being inconvenienced. Delta Village was beaten in excess of 50m. Given the filly’s most recent performance, Delta Village was place on its last chance to race competitively.
Lady In Line pulled hard during the middle stages. Leaving the back straight on the final occasion Lady In Line was held up and improved quickly towards the marker pegs forward of Delta Village as that runner gave ground. Lady In Line then briefly locked wheels with Metro Memory as that gelding also looked to race closer to the marker pegs. Both runners were able to gain clear running in the home straight, improving into 3rd and 4th placings respectively.
RACE 5 - NEW LIFE LASER THERAPY PACE (2180 MS)
Nathan Jack failed to appear in the racebook as the driver of Lola Montez.

Leaving the back straight on the final occasion, Lola Montez shifted out slightly then hung out when corrected by its driver. Racing to its outside, Neanger Guy also hung in simultaneously resulting in both runners locking wheels. Trailing runner Hameldaeme was checked and forced to race wider on the track. Despite the efforts of both drivers Nathan Jack and Shannon O’Sullivan, the wheels remained locked resulting in both runners losing all chance and finishing at the rear of the field.
RACE 6 – C&M BUILD GROUP PACE (1690 MS)
Nathan Jack failed to appear in the racebook as the driver of Khafaji.
A pre-race veterinary examination of Kurun Express was conducted due to the gelding returning to racing after undergoing knee surgery. The gelding was cleared of any obvious abnormalities.
Trainer Vince Vallelonga (Bring The Flave) was cautioned for failing to have the brands on the gelding clipped to be clearly distinguishable.
Execution Oro was examined by the club veterinarian pre-race under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the mare not racing in more than 12 months with no significant abnormalities detected. Execution Oro was examined again after the pre-race warm up due to the mare displaying an intermittent abnormal respiratory noise. Upon inspection the mare was cleared to race.
Execution Oro tired over the latter stages to be beaten 71m and a warning was issued for a poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Stewards intend to follow up with connections regarding the mare’s recovery post-race.

Our Tempo pulled hard while racing outside the leader during the middle stages.
Alpha Crucis attempted to improve forward to the position outside the leader in the back straight on the first occasion prior to Our Tempo improving away from the marker pegs and commenced to over race outside the leader. Driver Ken Tippet was then obliged to restrain to a position in the one out line. Alpha Crucis was then held up for a clear run rounding the final turn when unsuccessful in looking for a run in the sprint lane. Alpha Crucis was then directed wider in the home straight and improved late into 5th placing.
True Grit Shadow tired to be beaten 96m after racing with cover behind the leader throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Driver Nathan Jack could offer no explanation for the performance other than the gelding came under pressure when the tempo quickened. True Grit Shadow was placed on its last chance to race competitively for a poor performance.
I Hope Ican tired over the latter stages to be beaten 78m and was placed on its last chance to race competitively.
RACE 9 – CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES PACE (1690 MS)

Driver Steven Matson was queried regarding the seemingly improved performance of the winner Keepcrackingjokes. Mr Matson attributed the performance to Keepcrackingjokes being down in class from its recent race start and that the mare was able to race in a favourable position with cover behind the leader throughout. Mr Matson added that Keepcrackingjokes had been working well since its last race start having trained well against other horses in his stable leading into the race. Post-race swab and blood samples were taken from Keepcrackingjokes.
Wagering analysis will be conducted for this race.
