Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 GET WELL JULIE KINCADE 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1660 MS)

Geoff Webster, trainer of Buddy, was cautioned for failing to have the registration certificate for this gelding available upon request.

Courtney Slater, trainer of Fremarks JayJay, was cautioned for failing to have the gear for this runner correctly notified.

The start of this race was delayed owing to Doomben Gallops Race 1 running behind schedule.

Fremarks JayJay (Ellen Rixon) pulled hard and paced roughly approaching the 1400m and then racing down the back straight on the final occasion shifted in and raced greenly for a short distance, a warning was issued against the racing manners of this filly. Fremarks JayJay then tired to be beaten 50m, however in assessing the margin of 26.5m between the second and third placegetters, no action was taken against the competitive manner of the filly.

Buddy was inconvenienced when trailing Fremarks JayJay, after that filly shifted in and race greenly.

Jawsofselwood tired to be 50m however in assessing the margin of 26.5m between second and third, no action was taken against the competitive manner of the gelding.

Fremarks Hugo tired to be beaten 89.3m and a warning was issued. In assessing this action, the panel was mindful of the mile rate (1:58.4) and that the colt was having his first race start.

Ellen Rixon (Fremarks JayJay) explained that connections were satisfied with the way the filly had be trialling in the lead up to today’s event, however added that shortly after the start the filly began to race keenly and as a result was allowed to improve to the lead position, due to these manners. Ms Rixon then stated that when leading Fremarks JayJay was unable to be restrain sufficiently, and this resulted in a 26.6 first quarter. Connections are of the opinion that Fremarks JayJay will benefit from today’s race start.   

RACE 2 LIZ BARKER PRESIDENT HHRC TROTTERS HANDICAP (2160 MS)

Kentucky Jim galloped at the 1700m inconveniencing Quality Sunset and Elegant Jet. A warning was issued against the racing manners of Kentucky Jim as the gelding had offended in a similar manner within its last three race starts.

Quality Sunset hung in throughout the event before giving ground and tiring to be beaten 60.9m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a laceration to its right fore, which required treatment. As a result, Quality Sunset has been stood down for a period of 10 days. A warning was also issued against the competitive racing manner of Quality Sunset.

Allwatfunjingles and Lovelorn galloped at the 400 metres clear of interference.

RACE 3 – TAYLOR MOTORS HAMILTON PACE (1660 MS)

The start of this race was re-scheduled to start at 1:28pm upon the request from Sky Racing.

Irishmurphy was examined before and after the race in accordance with the HRV Welfare Policy. This due to the gelding being 12 years of age, a post-race inspection revealed a delayed recovery.

True Blue Rose was held up in the home straight for clear racing room and was unable to be fully tested in the run to the finish.

Jason Ainsworth (Flaming Lucky) was fined $100 under Rule 156(3) for applying the whip to his drive on more occasions than permitted over the final 200m.

RACE 4 – MATTHEWS PETROLEUM HAMILTON MAIDEN PACE (1660 MS)

The start of this race was re-scheduled to start at 1:57pm upon the request from Sky Racing.

Keayang Bieber was examined before the race and was cleared to start with no obvious abnormalities.

A false start was declared at the first attempt when Alook To Like galloped checking runners on the second row. Alook To Like was placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

Narra Vane was out of position in the score up on both occasions and at the start on the second occasion. The gelding will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

Merolamagic, which raced outside the leader, pulled hard throughout the event.

Racing towards the 1000m Narre Vane commenced to race fiercely and paced in close proximity, to the sulky of Boldyou, which Narre Vane was trailing. Ideal Jo was checked and galloped when trailing Narre Vane. Narre Vane was placed on its last chance to race truly.

Ideal Jo was held up for clear racing room close to the finish.

RACE 5 - COME JOIN OUR COMMITTEE PACE (1660 MS)

The start of this race was re-scheduled to start at 2:30pm upon the request from Sky Racing.

Johnny Redcoat was examined before and after the race in accordance with the HRV Welfare Policy. This due to the gelding having in excess of 200 race starts, a post-race revealed a delayed recovery.

RACE 6 – IGA HAMILTON PACE (2160 MS)

The start of this race was re-scheduled to start at 3:07pm upon the request from Sky Racing.

Abbey Fields, which led the event, pulled hard throughout.

RACE 7 – KINGS BAKERY PACE (2160 MS)

The start of this race was re-scheduled to start at 3:40pm upon the request from Sky Racing.

Ash Park was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

RACE 8 – ALEXANDRA HOUSE SPORTS CLUB PACE (2160 MS)

The start of this race was re-scheduled to start at 4:19pm upon the request from Sky Racing.

Our Bella Lucia, which raced behind the leader, pulled hard throughout.

Morgan Art, when racing along the peg line, pulled hard during the middle stages.

RACE 9 – WIMMERA MALLEE VET 3YO MAIDEN PACE (1660 MS)

The start of this race was slightly delayed due to a tongue tie being replaced on Plains In Heaven.

Goodtime Cracker galloped after the start and was placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

Shortly after the field was despatched Cyclone Brenda (Danielle Hill) commenced to pace roughly and then approaching the turn off the back straight, on the first occasion when continuing to pace roughly fell to the track, dislodging driver Danielle Hill. Emer and Beach Heaven were checked with Goodtime Cracker, which was trailing, being unable to avoid the fallen driver and being severely checked and losing its driver Glen Craven. As Danielle Hill, Cyclone Brenda and Goodtime Cracker remained on the track the race fall siren was sounded, alerting the drivers to restrain their drives from the event.

As Danielle Hill required further ambulance assistance prior to be transported from the course, by Ambulance Victoria and being mindful of the remaining daylight, stewards declared this event a no-race and abandoned the event.

Due to the manners of Cyclone Brenda immediately after the start the filly was placed outside the mobile barrier draw.

Glen Craven (Goodtime Cracker) was examined by the on-course ambulance officers and cleared of any injuries.

Danielle Hill (Cyclone Brenda) was treated at the track by the on-course ambulance officers before being transported to hospital for further scans and observation.

A further examination of Danielle Hill at hospital revealed no fractures, however revealed Ms Hill to be suffering from concussion. Danielle Hill has been stood down pending a satisfactory medical clearance.

A post-race veterinary examination of Cyclone Brenda revealed the filly to have lacerations to both front knees and acting upon veterinary advice was stood down for a period of 28 days and a satisfactory veterinary clearance.

A post-race veterinary examination of Goodtime Cracker revealed the gelding to be suffering a swollen right hind hock. Due to being treated the gelding was stood down for 14 days and a satisfactory veterinary clearance.
