RACE 2 – BRIDGE BAR OPEN PRE AND POST STATE OF ORIGIN PACE (2536MS)
APOLLO ROCK (K Harper) - Driver K. Harper was interviewed in relation to his tactics from the start in allowing MOONLITE DRIVE (G. Hall Jnr) to cross to the lead. Mr Harper advised that in his opinion the gelding would have been pressured throughout by MOONLITE DRIVE and he believed that it was in the best interests of the gelding to take a trail. Mr Mellsop confirmed the comments of Driver K. Harper and added that as APOLLO ROCK has also led at various times during its career, he would assess the speed and class of future events and have the gelding driven accordingly and inform Stewards of such intentions.
RACE 3 – FOLLOW @GLOUCESTERPARK ON TWITTER PACE (2130MS)
Late Gear Change - RAGAZZO MACH - Pull-Up Blinkers Off.
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 4 – XMAS IN JULY IN THE BEAU RIVAGE PACE (2536MS)
REGAL CHEVAL (C. Brown) - Sustained a flat tyre to the off-side sulky wheel in the front straight to receive the bell when contacted by SHADOW ROLL (D. Egerton-Green).
General: Driver D. Egerton-Green (SHADOW ROLL) was interviewed in relation to his drive puncturing the off-side sulky tyre of REGAL CHEVAL (C. Brown) when trailing that gelding in the front straight to receive the bell. Mr Egerton-Green stated that SHADOW ROLL had a tendency to hang outwards throughout and shifted up the track slightly as REGAL CHEVAL shifted down slightly which resulted in the contact. Stewards were satisfied that Mr Egerton-Green had not driven in a careless manner and no further action was taken.
RACE 5 – THE MEMBERS PACE (2130MS)
JUMPINGJACKMAC NZ (G. Hall Jnr) - When interviewed in relation to the unplaced performance, Driver G. Hall Jnr expressed disappointment and advised that the gelding had raced keenly and contacted its off-side sulky wheel on several occasions during running which detrimentally affected its performance.
RACE 6 – RETRAVISION DIV.1 PACE (2130MS)
No incidents to report.
RACE 7 – THE LOMBARDO (G3) FILLIES & MARES PACE (2130MS)
BLAZE COOPS (S. Suvaljko) - Raced keenly in the front straight to receive the bell and shifted down the track for a short distance. When interviewed regarding the unplaced performance, Driver S. Suvaljko advised that the mare raced keenly and was unable to finish off the race as well as expected. Trainer S. Tognolini advised he would now consider a gear change to have it race more tractably. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 8 – TABTOUCH DIV.2 PACE (2130MS)
GOOD TIMES AHEAD (R. Warwick) - Shifted up the track in the front straight on the final occasion.
OHOKA TITAN (D. Roberts) - Veered outwards at the turn into the front straight on the first occasion. A warning was issued against the gelding’s racing manner
STEAM PUNK (C. Lewis) - Held tight and contacted a number of marker pegs at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
General: Driver R. Warwick (GOOD TIMES AHEAD) was fined $100 under HR162(1)(www) for allowing his drive to shift ground in a manner which advantaged STEAM PUNK (C. Lewis). Further, Mr Warwick was reprimanded under HR156(7) for using his whip outside the confines of the sulky.
RACE 9 – TABRADIO 2YO FILLIES PACE (2130MS)
CABSAV was a late withdrawal at 8.43am when trainer M. Reed advised the gelding was lame in the near fore due to a bruised heel. Mr Reed was reminded of his obligation to ensure withdrawals are effected prior to the prescribed time of 8.30am in future.
QUATTROSE (D. Egerton-Green )- Raced roughly when tightened for room in the front straight on the final occasion.
BONNIE PAULINE (G. Cox) - Following the uncompetitive performance, Trainer Mr C. Olsen was advised that the filly would not be permitted to start at prime metropolitan meetings until such time as it displays an improvement in form.
JACKIE DANIELS (B. Smith) - Severely checked at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
ALLAGLOW (C. Lewis) - Severely checked at the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
OUR LILILOU (K. Prentice) - A late gear change of the removal of the hood was approved with such information being disseminated. Raced in restricted room and carried outwards by another runner at the turn in to the front straight on the final occasion. Trainer/Driver K Prentice was interviewed in relation to his tactics in remaining on the pegs when entering the back straight on the first occasion and he advised that as the filly was racing first up over 2130m he elected to remain in this position rather than race outside the outside the leader at this early stage of the event to have the filly finish off the race as strongly as possible.
General: On inquiry it was established that approaching the turn into the front straight on the final occasion, JACKIE DANIELS (B. Smith) improved into marginal running between ALLAGLOW (C Lewis) on its outside and OUR LILILOU (K. Prentice) to its inside and shortly after OUR LILILOU was taken to the outside of QUATTROSE (D. Egerton-Green) which then commenced to shift outwards slightly causing JACKIE DANIELS to be tightened for room and severely checked. JACKIE DANIELS then shifted up the track causing ALLAGLOW to be severely checked. As there were numerous factors involved in this incident, no blame could be attributed to any one driver and no further action was taken apart from reminding all drivers to ensure they have sufficient room and are fully clear when improving in future.
Further, in relation to QUATTROSE (D. Egerton-Green) racing roughly in the front straight on the final occasion, Driver C. Voak (SPIRITOFANANGEL) was reprimanded for contributing to interference under HR163(1)(iii) for allowing his drive to shift down the track resulting in QUATTROSE being tightened. When assessing this matter, Stewards considered that the slight outward movement by VALHALLA ANGEL (C. Suvaljko) was a contributing factor to the interference received by QUATTTROSE.
RACE 10 – ALLWOOD STUD FARM DIV.3 PACE (2130MS)
IDEAL CHARM (H. Charles) - Driver H. Charles was questioned in relation to the winning performance and he advised that the gelding had benefited from a change in training routine of having its workload increased and that it was suited by the improved track conditions as compared to its most recent prior starts and that it had benefited from a favourable run and was better suited in this class.

Late report:
Gloucester Park, Friday 22 April 2022
Race 3 - Hoist Torque-Hoist Solutions Pace (2130M)
RWWA Stewards on Wednesday, 15 June 2022 conducted the adjourned inquiry into the injury sustained by SPACE JUNK (C. Voak) to its off fore radius (forearm) resulting in the gelding falling near the 300m and subsequently having to be euthanised. In this incident, Drivers A. Cortopassi (ALLWOODS ROCKNROLL) and M. Miller (C C CHEVRON) were dislodged with WILL I ROCKNROLL (C. Suvaljko), BATAVIA ON FIRE (J. Young), and CROCODILE KID (S. Suvaljko) all receiving interference to varying degrees. Evidence was taken from Drivers C. Voak, A. Cortopassi, M. Miller and the trainer of SPACE JUNK, Mr F. Vanmaris. Mr Vanmaris advised that SPACE JUNK had been working strongly leading into the race and had performed well at recent starts and that the gelding had received no recent veterinary treatment prior to the race. Such comments were confirmed by Stewards from the medication records provided for SPACE JUNK with no medications considered relevant to the subsequent fatal fracture were recorded to have been administered. Further, post-mortem samples taken from SPACE JUNK were reported by the ChemCentre as being negative for any prohibited substances. Mr Voak advised that he had been working SPACE JUNK regularly in its current preparation and was pleased with its training and that he had no concerns in relation to its soundness. He added that SPACE JUNK did not show any signs of lameness during the preliminary prior to the race. Mr Voak was questioned in relation to SPACE JUNK racing roughly for a short distance near the 1100m and the gelding then appearing to be uncomfortable in its action in the back straight on the final occasion and given these circumstances whether he should have retired SPACE JUNK from the race prior to the gelding falling near the 300m. Mr Voak explained that he noticed SPACE JUNK cast its off fore plate approaching the 1100m which he believed to be the reason for it then racing roughly but as it quickly recovered and regained its gait and then travelled strongly thereafter he had no concerns with its action. He further advised that SPACE JUNK came under pressure entering the back straight on the final occasion and he therefore elected to keep the gelding balanced and not pressure it and commenced to ease it down which he believed was the best option in the circumstances rather than change direction and shift inwards across marker pegs to the inside of the track. Mr Voak further stated that he was of the belief that SPACE JUNK would tire back through the field and not take any further competitive part in the event due to his actions in easing the gelding and not placing it under any pressure in the back straight which he believed was the most appropriate action to take at the time. Mr Cortopassi advised that he had endeavoured to shift outwards away from SPACE JUNK prior to it falling as he was aware it was under pressure but could not fully complete his movement due to having another runner to his outside and consequently was unable to avoid SPACE JUNK when it fell causing him, and Mr M Miller, who was following, to be dislodged. After full consideration, no action was taken against Mr Voak under the rules apart from advising him that in the event of his drive demonstrating any signs of lameness during a race he is expected to retire it by shifting to the inside of the marker pegs or to the outside of the track wherever possible in future.
