Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
RACE 1 – CELEBRATE NYE AT GLOUCESTER PARK 3YO PACE (2130MS)
CULLEN STAR (K. Harper) – Reinsperson K. Harper was fined $100 under the provisions of R168(1)(a) for contacting and puncturing the offside sulky tyre of MISTER PICCOLO (E. Suvaljko) when moving three wide at the winning post with a lap to travel.
COURAGE OF LOMBO (J. Rigoli) – Broke gait free of interference leaving the front straight with 800m to run. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 13 days and until such time as the completion of 2 satisfactory re-qualifying trials.
Stewards advised the track curator that a number of drivers in the race felt the track required more water on the surface.
RACE 2 – WESTRAL ROLLER SHUTTERS PACE (2130MS)
LIL HAPPY FELLA (A. De Campo) – Broke gait free of interference approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
General: The reinspersons licence of H. Hancock (ADDA SPOILT MAJOR) was suspended under the provisions of R163(1)(a)(iii) for a period of 9 days after he had pleaded guilty to a charge of causing interference to TIGER BY THE TAIL (D. Roberts) when shifting ground up the track in the front straight on the final occasion. When assessing penalty Stewards acknowledged his previous good driving record, guilty plea, degree of interference and carelessness along with the fact that TIGER BY THE TAIL had a tendency to hang inwards in the incident.
RACE 3 – NYE BOOKINGS NOW OPEN DIV.2 PACE (2536MS)
SIR BRIGGEN (H. Charles) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which was beaten 76m revealed no abnormalities. A warning was issued in respect to the performance.
TYRON TERRANOVA NZ (D. Miller) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which was beaten 60m revealed no abnormalities. A warning was issued in respect to the performance.
RACE 4 – TEAM BOND DIV.1 PACE (2536MS)
TRIPLE BRIE (K. Harper) – Reinsperson K. Harper was advised that he is to refrain from allowing his body to protrude outside the confines of his sulky in accordance to R170.
Due to lightning strikes in the area, racing was delayed at 6.10pm until 6.51pm.
The following races were rescheduled:
Race 5 – 7.10pm, Race 6 – 7.40pm, Race 7 – 8.05pm and Race 9 – 8.58pm.
RACE 5 – NEW YEARS EVE @GLOUCESTERPARK PACE (2130MS)
NAME IN LIGHTS (S. Suvaljko) – The near side sulky tyre deflated with 800m to run.
RACE 6 – CATALANO TRUCK & EQUIPMENT SALES 4YO+ PACE (2130MS)
GALVINSTON JOHN (H. Charles) – Hung inwards shortly after the start and FOXY ROSE (E. Suvaljko) was forced inwards and contacted the sulky of PRIDDAH (M. Brown). Placed on its last chance in the barrier draw.
QUICK MAMBA (J. Young) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be sore in the off foreleg. Will be stood down from racing until such time as a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness is produced.
RACE 7 – BOOK NEW YEARS EVE NOW FILLIES & MARES PACE (2130MS)
BLAZIN BEAUTY (A. Cortopassi) – The off-side sulky tyre was contacted and punctured by TRINITY BROMAC NZ (A. De Campo) leaving the winning post with a lap to run when EL JESSIE (D. Miller) which had led the one out line commenced to give ground, subsequently checking BLAZIN BEAUTY.
RACE 8 – SEFS – THE ASSET FINANCE SPECIALISTS 4YO+ MARES PACE (2130MS)
