RACE 8 – HOIST TORQUE AUSTRALIA TROT (2536MS)
Stewards questioned Trainer M. Young (CHICAGO H NZ) which was a late nomination and then subsequently a scratching from this race. Mr Young stated that following the run at Pinjarra on 4 July 2022 where the horse performed poorly and he advised Stewards the horse would be gelded and spelled, he had also experimented with a change of shoeing. Following this he had worked the gelding and nominated for the race as he was confident it would perform satisfactorily as he was aware it would be drawing barrier one, therefore he accepted for the race.
After working the gelding, it had swelling arise from the operation therefore he was forced to scratch the trotter. Mr Young was informed that he should have contacted Stewards and informed them of his decision to nominate for a race to thus refute the innuendo arising that the sole purpose of accepting was to ensure the race went ahead, bearing in mind he had the obvious favourite starting in the race.
ONE BID BUYS NZ (H. Charles) – Hung inwards and contacted a marker peg rounding the home turn in the run to the finish.
