RACE 1 – SIMMONDS STEEL FENCING AND GATES PACE (2130MS)
DELIGHTFULL (H. Charles) – Raced roughly for a short distance when the driver released the hopple shortening pins when racing in the front straight on the second occasion.
RACE 2 – ETCH COATINGS MOBILE SANDBLASTING FILLIES & MARES PACE (2130MS)
GOTTA GO GABBANA (C. Voak) – Broke gait in the latter stages of the score-up. Out of position at the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
AMERICAN ARMA (C. Brown) – Driver C. Brown reported the removable deafeners failed to release in running.
VIVERE DAMORE (G. Hall Jnr) – A post-race veterinary examination of the unplaced mare revealed no abnormalities. Driver G. Hall Jnr expressed disappointment in the performance. Trainer P. Tilbrook advised the mare may not have been suited racing outside the leader for the majority of the race with the addition of racing over consecutive weeks. It was his intention now to send the mare for a spell.
RACE 3 – SIMMONDS STEEL INDUSTRIAL & MINING FABRICATION PACE (2130MS)
RAGAZZO MACH NZ (S. Suvaljko) – Driver S. Suvaljko was fined $100 under R162(1)(i) for failing to be in position at the candy pole as the start commenced.
ARGYLE RED (D. Miller) – Broke gait racing towards the front straight on the second occasion and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days, and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial and a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness is produced.
RACE 4 – ETCH COATINGS PROFESSIONAL POWDER COATING PACE (2536MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 5 – SIMMONDS STEEL THE IM THEMIGHTYQUINN (G3) PACE (2130MS)
IAMTHEFIRECRACKER (K. Harper) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which was beaten 138m revealed no abnormalities. Driver advised the gelding when leading and over-racing may have choked down in running. Will be stood down from racing until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
SEEERYANFLY (D. Egerton-Green) – A post-race veterinary examination of the unplaced gelding revealed no abnormalities. Trainer/Driver D. Egerton-Green advised the gelding may not have been suited racing with only a 6-day break from its previous start and did not benefit being pressured in the early stages to find a position in the one out line.
RACE 6 – SIMMONDS STEEL DECORATIVE SCREENS PACE (2503SS)
A false start was declared when the 10m barrier strand failed to release. Drivers quickly restrained their horses to again take their positions at the start.

RACE 9 – ETCH COATINGS WESTERN CROWN 2YO FILLIES (L) PACE (1730MS)
QUATTROSE (D. Harper) – Raced roughly shortly after the start. A warning was issued.
BETWEEN TWO THORNS (A. De Campo) – Raced roughly in the back straight on the first occasion, raced greenly and hung outwards racing towards the front straight on the final occasion. A warning was issued. Trainer A. De Campo advised he would experiment with gear adjustments in an attempt to have the filly race more tractable in its races.
RACE 10 –SIMMONDS STEEL WESTERN CROWN 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS (L) PACE (1730MS)
Stewards held up the All Clear to establish if RONALD SCOTT (J. Young) when galloping in the front straight on the final occasion gained or maintained its ground. After viewing available replays and taking evidence from Driver J. Young, Stewards were satisfied that Ms Young had restrained the gelding when in a gallop and as such had not gained an advantage and the All Clear was given. At a subsequent inquiry into the gelding breaking gait, it was established that when Driver J. Young had activated the removable deafeners the gelding had begun to over-race and when being steadied from HOTLY PURSUED (K. Harper) to avoid contacting its sulky, shifted outwards marginally and contacted the sulky wheel of FESS UP NZ (R. Warwick) and broke gait. After considering all circumstances a warning was issued on RONALD SCOTT’S racing manner.

Late Reports
Gloucester Park – Friday 22nd April, 2022 - Race 3: BLACK JACK ZAC– RWWA Stewards on Thursday 16 June 2022 concluded an inquiry into the serious injury sustained by BLACK JACK ZAC in the aforementioned race. The report from the on-course veterinarian determined that the gelding had sustained a fracture to the off-hind femur during the running of the race, which required the gelding to be euthanised on humane grounds. Trainer Mr J. Ellis advised the gelding had been working well leading into this race and had experienced no soundness issues throughout its recent history. After considering all the evidence, including reviewing veterinary and treatment records for the gelding, the Stewards were satisfied that there were no identifiable pre-existing conditions that would have resulted in the gelding sustaining the injury. Samples taken from the gelding and analysed by the ChemCentre (WA) did not detect any prohibited substances. On that basis the inquiry was concluded.
Pinjarra – Monday 2nd May, 2022 - Race 6: LOOKIN GOOD LOCKIE– RWWA Stewards on Thursday 16 June 2022 concluded an inquiry into the sudden death of LOOKIN GOOD LOCKIE in the aforementioned race. The report from the on-course veterinarian determined that the gelding had experienced a probable fatal cardiac arrythmia, resulting in the gelding being retired from the event, and subsequently collapsing and becoming deceased. Trainer Mr A. Mitchell advised the gelding had been working well leading into this race, was fit and healthy at the time and not receiving any medication or veterinary treatments. After considering all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that there was no identifiable pre-existing condition that would have resulted in the gelding suffering a fatal cardiac event. Samples taken from the gelding and analysed by the ChemCentre (WA) did not detect any prohibited substances. On that basis the inquiry was concluded.
Byford Trials - Sunday 22 May 2022
RWWA Stewards on Friday, 17 June 2022 completed an inquiry into a report received from Deputy Steward, Mr Jarrod Hall that the 3YO filly, FOLLOW THE ARK, trained by Mr Dylan Quadrio, which was nominated for Trial 3 at Byford on Sunday May 22, was incorrectly presented as the 4YO mare, OUR GLOWING STAR which subsequently trialled and finished in fourth placing. Mr Hall advised that the error was not detected when routine identity checks were being conducted prior to the trial on that day and this mistake was not realised until FOLLOW THE ARK was again nominated and presented to trial on Sunday, 12 June 2022 where it was ascertained on this occasion that the official branding records did not match the filly and was subsequently confirmed as OUR GLOWING STAR. Mr Quadrio explained that both horses had recently entered his care and due to recent work being conducted at his stables he alternated their stabling arrangements and consequently did not properly check their identity leading him to wrongly present and trial OUR GLOWING STAR as FOLLOW THE ARK. Mr Quadrio immediately acknowledged his error and informed Stewards that OUR GLOWING STAR had trialled on Sunday, 22 May 2022 due to his error in not properly confirming the identity. Mr Quadrio subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under HR45 (5) for failing to ensure the correct horse is presented to start in a race or trial and was fined the sum of $250. When assessing penalty, Stewards accepted Mr Quadrio’s explanation in that he had not acted knowingly or intentionally with the error arising through negligence in his stable management practices, his plea of guilty, and cooperation with the Stewards. Further, the Harness Racing Department has been advised of this error and performance records for both horses have been corrected.
