General: Stewards inquired into the reasons for TWENTYNINE TWELVE NZ (K. Symington) contacting the off-side sulky wheel of NAME IN LIGHTS (S. Suvaljko) and breaking gait racing out of the back straight on the final occasion. Stewards heard evidence from both drivers and after viewing the official patrol film, established that when racing in the back straight Driver S. Suvaljko had shifted wider when in a position to do so and found a position in the one out line. Driver S. Suvaljko had then continued to shift further to find a position in the three wide line. Stewards found that after NAME IN LIGHTS had been shifted into the three wide line, Driver K. Symington had failed to shift with this move and instead continued to drive forward in the three wide line, resulting in the above interference. Stewards found that whilst the incident could have been avoided, no one driver had been careless to the extent of a breach of R168(1)(a) however reminded both Drivers of their obligations concerning the ease out rule.
BURNING RUBBER NZ (B. Smith) – Driver B. Smith was reprimanded under the provisions of R156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.
