Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
All engaged drivers at today’s meeting were subjected to rapid antigen tests being supervised by the Stewards prior to fulfilling their drives.
Stewards approved the following late driver change due to health and safety protocols:
Race 8 – CHERRY ON THE CAKE – D. Harper
RACE 1 – NOAH GEORGE FUNDRAISER NIGHT 19 AUGUST PACE (2130MS)
PER ARDUA AD ASTRA (D. Harper) – Broke gait as the start was effected. Slipped its crupper shortly after and as a result was retired from the event. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
AINSWORTH (J. Stampalia) – Hung outwards and raced roughly racing out of the back straight on the first occasion.
UNDER THE ALTA (G. Hall Jnr) when shifting outwards from a position on the pegs raced tightly with NAME IN LIGHTS (S. Suvaljko) and locked stays racing in the back straight on the final occasion.
RACE 2 – THE RUNNING CAMEL DIV.Q PACE (1730MS)
THEREUGO (L. Harper) – Hung outwards under pressure when leading in the home straight on the final occasion.
RACE 3 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND DIV.2 PACE (1730MS)
THE MERCENARY (K. Harper) – When giving ground passing the 600m hung outwards and raced tightly with ROCKNROLL WHITBY (C. Suvaljko) and continued to tire being beaten 74m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the gelding for the uncompetitive performance.
RACE 4 – ORA FOODS PACE (2130MS)
There was a delay to the start of this race when the sulky of LA SULEIMAN (S. Suvaljko) contacted a sign on the outside perimeter track fence which then became detached and had to be removed from the track surface.
OUR MISTA KALLE (D. Egerton-Green) – Broke gait as the start was effected, resulting in ORLANDO BLUE (G. Hall Jnr) being inconvenienced and LA SULEIMAN (S. Suvaljko) being checked and breaking gait for a short distance. OUR MISTA KALLE will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events. Driver D. Egerton-Green was fined $200 under R156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.
RACE 5 – THE TROTS WA FILLIES & MARES PACE (2130MS)
GODDESS OF REASON (S. Young) – Broke gait as the start was effected, resulting in EXTRAORDINARY MARY (C. Lewis) being checked. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
MAKE YOUR MARK (G. Hall Jnr) – Driver was cautioned for allowing his sulky wheel to race inside two marker pegs when leading racing into the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 6 – RETRAVISION PACE (2130MS)
COUNT MATAI (J. Suvaljko) – Broke gait as the start was effected. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.
ZACCY MAC NZ (A. Cortopassi) – Hung inwards under pressure racing into the front straight on the final occasion causing JIVING JOLT (G. Hall Jnr) to be tightened for racing room and race inside two marker pegs.
RACE 7 – TABTOUCH 4YO+ PACE (2130MS)
TWENTYBLACKJACK (D. Harper) – Hung inwards in the score-up and was out of position at the release point. A warning was issued. Gave ground from the 600m to be beaten 105m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Due to the unsatisfactory performance will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
JUST ROC (R. Warwick) – Broke gait shortly after the start was effected. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events. Broke gait racing in the back straight on the final occasion. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
General: BATAVIA REACTOR (A. De Campo) - Stewards questioned Trainer H. Reeves regarding the winning performance compared to the previous unplaced runs. Mr Reeves advised he had lightened the horse’s workload since its previous start and with the favourable run behind the leader throughout, felt this had contributed to the improved performance.
RACE 8 – STEELOS OPEN EVERY RACE MEETING 3YO DIV.1 PACE (2130MS)
BONSCO CIRCUS (R. Warwick) – Galloped out as the start was effected. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events. Broke gait racing in the back straight on the final occasion. As the colt had offended at recent starts will be stood down from racing for a period of 13 days and until such time as the completion of 2 satisfactory re-qualifying trials.
SPEEDWAGON (K. Symington) – Driver was fined $200 under R156(4)(b)(v) for applying the whip after the finishing line.
RACE 9 – TABRADIO 3YO DIV.2 PACE (2130MS)
No racing incidents to report.
