SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT:
Globe Derby Park – Saturday 22 October 2022 - RACE 1 - 2022 ALABAR GOLDEN NURSERY (HEAT 1) (No NR.) – 1800MS
Stewards questioned Driver D Hill (NICELY SPOKEN) regarding a media report which disclosed that the Driver had experienced a gear issue shortly after the start of the race. D Hill confirmed that after the start she noted a hopple shortener pin had released prematurely and that rather than risk the horse on the first turn she had released the other pin, then electing to manage NICELY SPOKEN through the first turn. When queried regarding her responsibility under HR 162(1)(rr) “A Driver shall not fail to immediately report to the Stewards if during a race any of his horses’ gear is broken, lost, damaged, tampered or interfered with or has malfunctioned.” D Hill acknowledged her oversight. After considering all the circumstances of the matter, Stewards issued D Hill a reprimand and advised the Driver that future instances would result in a penalty being imposed.
This Report and the Stewards Comments for the race meeting may be amended at the discretion of the Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) Stewards as races are routinely reviewed.
