Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

Owing to Driver D Smith being injured at Mildura on Friday night the following Driver changes were approved.

Race 1 – BOSS MAJOR – C Johnson.

Race 2 – SNAPPER ROCKS – J Kittel.

Race 4 – BACARDI BINDI – M Maguire.

Race 5 – ACES SHADOW – G Pullicino.

Race 6 – FUMIA REACTOR – C Johnson.

Race 7 – COME ON SLOOPY – W Hill.

Race 9 – VILLANELLE – MA Smith.

RACE 1 - F&D AZZURRO EARTHWORKS PACE – 1800MS

BOSS MAJOR – Settled leaders back – Prior to entering the final straight was held up until using the sprint lane.

TUSCAN STAR – Obtained a trail near the 1500 metres when crossed by LIBERTY TEE JAY.

LIBERTY TEE JAY – After showing gate speed was outside the leader throughout.

MANOEUVER MAN – Near the 1700 metres was eased to a trailing position in the running line.

IM THE MIGHTY JUDD – After showing gate speed, was three wide in the early stages – From the 1500 metres restrained to the rear.

RACE 2 - BIANCO REINFORCING PACE – 1800MS

MAMMALS DESTINY – After showing gate speed raced roughly after the start, a warning was issued – Settled leaders back.

SUTTER MAN – Raced outside the leader throughout.

ON THE CASE – Near the 1700 metres was eased to a trailing position in the running line.

MIDNIGHT SPORT – Driver C Johnson was fined $100 under Rule 156(4)(a) for using the whip continuously.

RACE 3 - TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY PACE – 1800MS

STAR WRITER – Settled leaders back.

STEAM CLEANED – Out of position at the start, a warning was issued.

SIR ROMAN – Near the 1400 metres obtained cover when crossed by WHITESTARCHRISTIAN – Contacted own sulky during the race.

HESEVERSOCLEVER – Used the sprint lane.

WHITESTARCHRISTIAN – After showing gate speed was three wide in the early stages – Worked forward to the position outside the leader near the 1400 metres – Raced outside the leader throughout – Approaching the finish was tightened for room - Driver MA Smith was questioned regarding directing his drive up the track from its racing line when entering the final straight.  MA Smith stated that making the final turn WHITESTARCHRISTIAN had hung in and his actions were to correct the horse.  After reviewing the vision, not persuaded by the Driver’s explanation he was found guilty of a breach of Rule 162(1)(ww) in that he had allowed WHITESTARCHRISTIAN to shift from its running line when not commencing a forward move or improving its position and fined $200.

MR KIWI NZ – From the 400 metres made ground five wide.

RACE 4 - K&S ELECTRICAL TROTTERS HANDICAP – 2230SS

QUICK QUAKER – Near the 1900 metres surrendered the lead.

CONFISCATED – Swung sideways after the start, a warning was issued – Took no part.

BACARDI BINDI – Broke after the start, was afforded a last chance in the draw – Took no part.

SUPER ANGUS – Near the 1500 metres obtained a trail when crossed by MEET MICHAELANGELO.

DEE – Broke after the start, was afforded a last chance in the draw – Took no part.

IRENE ROSE – Checked after the start when avoiding ATEGO TITAN – Near the 1000 metres broke gait free of interference, a warning was issued – Dropped a kneeboot.

ATEGO TITAN – Steadied immediately prior to the start being effected – Severely checked when avoiding CONFISCATED – Took no part.

MEET MICHAELANGELO – Fractious in the score up, a warning was issued – Inconvenience after the start when avoiding runners - From the 2000 metres raced without cover.

ORLANDOS GIFT – Near the 1900 metres worked forward to the lead.

The All-clear for this race was delayed to permit Stewards to review the official vision of the start and in particular whether CONFISCATED and ATEGO TITAN had been denied a fair start.  After considering the explanation of the Starter it was established that whilst the start had been delayed momentarily to permit an attendant to assist MEET MICHAELANGELO when the start was effected all runners were facing up.  After the start was effected CONFISCATED had swung sideways and checked ATEGO TITAN and MEET MICHAELANGELO was inconvenienced in working around those runners. 

RACE 5 - NORTH EAST GROUP PACE – 1800MS

ACES SHADOW - Fractious in the score up, a warning was issued – Slow out – Near the 1600 metres tightened and broke gait when checked over marker pegs – Used the sprint lane.

ALWYNE FRANCO – Settled leaders back – From the 300 metres was held up until using the sprint lane.

SUPERCHARGED - After showing gate speed, near the 1500 metres worked forward to the lead.

BETTOR YOU BET – Near the 1500 metres eased to the markers – Driver K Brown was fined $100 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using the whip with morse than a wrist only flicking motion – Near the 200 metres locked wheels.

EL AWOMAN – Trainer/Driver A Robinson reported that he was disappointed with the performance and the mare would now spell.

THIS GENERATION – Near the 200 metres locked wheels.

PLUTUS – Inconvenienced in the score up – Out of position at the start.

IM REGGIE – Near the 1600 metres was checked and lost its position – From the 1500 metres worked forward to race outside the leader.

THIS GENERATION- Will be reincluded in the barrier draw for future mobile races.

Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which IM REGGIE (R Hryhorec), whilst racing inside BETTER YOU BET (K Brown), was checked near the 1600 metres and taken in onto ACES SHADOW which broke gait when tightened over marker pegs.  After taking evidence from the Drivers, the reporting Steward and reviewing the vision, K Brown was charged under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference when shifting in when not having clearance over IM REGGIE as prescribed by Rule 165(1)(a) & (b).  Mr Brown pleaded guilty to the charge.  Stewards ordered his licence to drive in races be suspended for a period of thirty-two days to commence at midnight tonight.  In determining penalty Stewards acknowledged his plea, noting that it was his first race drive since 30 May 2020.

RACE 6 - JOHN ROTHE VIDEO PACE – 1800MS

KEAYANG SHAKENBAKE – Slow out.

FUMIA REACTOR – Settled leaders back – From the 300 metres was held up prior to using the sprint lane.

OUT OF DODGE – From the 300 metres became held up between runners and then in the final straight had difficulty obtaining clear running.

EL DEMONIO – After showing gate speed, raced outside the leader throughout.

BODYLINE – Near the 1300 metres improved onto MAKAILA and raced roughly, a warning was issued.

MAKAILA – Trainer/Driver reported the mare would be spelled.

RACE 7 - HYGAIN PACE – 1800MS

SHELDON 

HILLTOP BREEZE – After showing gate speed, from the 1400 metres obtained a trail when crossed by LILLYSHELAINE.

LILLYSHELAINE – Hung out in the score up, a warning was issued - After showing gate speed, was three wide in the early stages – Worked forward to gain the position outside the leader near the 1400 metres – Raced outside the leader throughout.

COME ON SLOOPY – Inconvenienced in the score up when tightened for room – From the 400 metres was forced to improve four wide with a trail.

ROCKSTAR DIVA 

TWIN CONNECTION – From the 400 metres was forced to improve four wide.

ILLAWONG KIM – Settled leaders back – Near the 1500 metres hung in and contacted marker pegs, a warning was issued.

RACE 8 - TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION PACE – 1800MS

CELESTIAL DAYBREAK – Settled leaders back – Prior to the 200 metres was tightened over marker pegs – Used the sprint lane.

THUMBS UP NZ – After showing gate speed, over raced - Raced outside the leader until gaining cover near the 1200 metres when crossed by ABSOLUTION.

ABSOLUTION – After showing gate speed, was three wide in the early stages – Worked forward to the position outside the leader – from the 1200 metres raced outside the leader - Trainer/Driver A Robinson reported that he was disappointed with the performance and the horse would now spell.

ABSTRACT ART– From the 300 metres was held up – Used the sprint lane.

RACE 9 - MITAVITE STUDGRO PACE – 1800MS

ROCK TO SUCCESS – Leaving the 1600 metres was steadied and moved three wide when the pace eased – Worked forward three wide from the 1500 metres – Near the 1000 metres was eased to a trailing position in the running line.

LEALA – After showing gate speed was eased leaving the 1600 metres – Driver J Kittel was queried regarding his failure to maintain his position passing the 1600 metres and the circumstances in which ROCK TO SUCCESS has taken an uncontested trailing position near the 1000 metres.  J Kittel explained that he had been instructed to obtain a trail if unsuccessful in leading but had been surprised at the manner in which the mare had dropped the bit.  He explained that he had pressured the mare to prevent the move by ROCK TO SUCCESS, but it had not responded.  He conceded that he might have reacted earlier than he had.

VILLANELLE – From the 300 metres was held up until entering the final straight.

CELESTIAL ZODIAC – After showing gate speed, was three wide in the early stages – Worked forward near the 1500 metres and raced outside the leader for the remainder of the race.

HESTON BLUE STREAK – From the 300 metres was held up prior to using the sprint lane.

LOU LOU QUICK – From the 400 metres was forced to improve four wide.

MAJOR JOLT – From the 300 metres was held up prior to using the sprint lane.

This Report and the Stewards Comments for the race meeting may be amended at the discretion of the Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) Stewards as races are routinely reviewed.
