RACE 1 TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY PACE – 1800MS

RACE 2 VALE JOSIE JUSTICE PACE – 1800MS

Dean Girardi (COME ON SLOOPY) second past the post lodged a protest against WINSTON ALEXANDER (Todd Mumford) being declared the winner alleging interference near the 100m. After taking evidence from both drivers, viewing the available vision, taking into account their own observations, considering the margin between 1st and 2nd and the manner in which both horses finished the race, stewards dismissed the protest and the all clear was given on the judge’s numbers 9 - 7 – 1 – 4 – 8. Stewards deemed that whilst WINSTON ALEXANDER had shifted out under pressure in the home straight the final time, Dean Girardi had only momentarily stopped driving his horse to the line and were satisfied it had not impacted on the finish enough to alter the result.

WHITE STAR MOLLY - stewards queried driver Stephen Grace regarding the tactics he adopted. S. Grace said it was his pre-race plan to try and lead or sit behind the leader, if he found himself 3 back the pegline he would try to get one off. Having been unsuccessful in getting the lead or leaders back he elected to move to the one wide line as that position was available to him, however having watched the replay he said he may well have been better served to remain on the marker pegline until such time as another horse looked to cover him, his comments were noted.

TRADE WHISPERS - led then surrendered the lead when challenged by RUN FOR STIKKA near the 1400m. Used the sprint lane and was tested to the line.

TRAPPERTWO - gave ground and a warning was issued.
