Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1600 metres in which JUSTANEXTRAGRAND (J Kittel) was checked when appearing to trail DELIGHTFUL GNP NZ (W Hill). After considering the evidence of both Drivers and reviewing the official vision Stewards established that passing the winning post JUSTAN EXTRAGROUND had shifted inside the line of DELIGHTFUL GNP and then commenced to race keenly resulting in the inside sulky wheel of DELIGHTFUL GNP being contacted continuously by both front legs of JUSTANEXTRAGRAND. Inside the 800 metres DELIGHTFUL GNP had rolled up the track marginally which had resulted in JUSTANEXTRAGRAND improving of its own accord, eventually being checked from contacting a wheel and breaking gait. Driver J Kittel was issued a reprimand by Stewards under Rule 168(1)(a) for a lack of control and failing to adhere to the requirements of Rule 163(3) which in the opinion of Stewards had majorly contributed to the incident.
