Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided stewards with their intentions prior to the event.
RACE 1 – NORTH EAST GROUP PACE – 1800MS
BILLY ROCKS – Out of position when the start was effected, will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start events. Hung out once the field was despatched, a warning was issued.
RACE 2 – TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY PACE – 1800MS
ONE NIGHT AT THEMILE NZ – Commenced to give ground from the 40 metres, eventually being beaten 42.0 metres, running an individual time of 2:00.5. Due to the fact it was the geldings first run back from a spell and its own time, Stewards elected to just note the circumstances.
EASY ROLLING – Driver M. A. Smith advised Stewards that the mare had cast a plate just as the field was despatched.
BOSS MAJOR – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested in the final straight.
THUMBS UP NZ – Driver D. Girardi notified Stewards that his off-side tyre had deflated in the early stages of the race, which would have impacted the performance of the gelding.
RACE 3 – ANGLE VALE HARDWARE & FODDER PACE – 1800MS
At the request of driver D. Girardi, Stewards delayed the all clear to allow him the opportunity to review the race replays, as he was concerned he was tightened in the final straight. After reviewing the race replay D. Girardi was satisfied that his run was not impeded and the finishing position of his runner was not adversely affected. Consequently, the all clear was given on the Judges numbers 5-3-2-4.
ROCKSTAR DIVA – Raced roughly in the score up and again shortly after the start was effected, a warning was issued.
ON THE CASE – Driver M. Smith was reminded of his obligations under Rule 162(1)(t) which relates to shouting loudly or making any improper noise, as he was very vocal as the horses raced through the final 200 metres.
MIDNIGHT SPORT – Driver C. Johnson was reminded of his obligations when racing down the final straight to maintain a straight course, as he had allowed MIDNIGHT SPORT to shift down the track with minimal clearance over PASSIONATE PURSUIT near the 100 metres.
CAPTAIN THUNDERBOLT NZ – At the request of connections, reinstated in the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 4 – HYGAIN FIBER PROTECT PACE – 2230MS
LIBERTY TEE JAY – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested in the final straight.
MANOEUVER MAN – Hung in near the 400 metres, a warning was issued.
BIEN HOA NZ – As per HRSA policy for horses aged 12 years or older, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.
LEVI JIMMY – Gave ground over the final 450 metres of the event to eventually be beaten 73.0 metres, a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Due to the fact it was the geldings first run back from a spell, Stewards elected to only place a warning on its performance.
RACE 5 – MITAVITE STUDGRO TROTTERS MOBILE – 1800MS
ATEGO TITAN – Showed gate speed and led the event, however, after being challenged for the lead, driver G. Pullicino elected to take a trail on the back of QUICK QUAKER near the 1400 metres.
IRENE ROSE – Broke gait in the later stages of the score up and was out of position at despatch, consequently, the mare will be drawn wide in future mobile start events. Hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 1000 metres and again near the 200 metres, a warning was issued.
BACARDI BINDI – Stewards questioned trainer M. Maguire regarding the performance of BACARDI BINDI, which on face value seemed below expectation. M. Maguire was disappointed with the gelding’s performance but stated that the gelding had been working well during the week, and expected the mare to be difficult to beat in the event, especially after the way the race panned out. He could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance; however, a post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had very mild carpal effusion, causing very minor lameness and it was recommended that BACARDI BINDI not race again until a veterinary certificate of soundness is provided. M. Maguire did suggest to Stewards that the mare may well be retired from racing.
QUICK QUAKER – Driver P. Pavlovich was reminded of his obligations when crossing, to do so with sufficient clearance of the runner to his inside, after crossing with minimal clearance over ATEGO TITAN as the field raced through the first turn.
SMART CHA CHA – Broke gait shortly after the start was effected, taking no competitive part in the race, will continue to be drawn wide in mobile start events.
RACE 6 – AIR DIFFUSION AGENCIES PACE – 1800MS
LEALA – Showed gate speed and led the event, however, driver J. Kittel elected to take a trail on the back of GOPATI NZ near the 1400 metres.
NO ULTIMATUMS – Hung in at various stages of the event, a warning was issued. Driver T. Martlew was reprimanded under Rule 163(3) for failing to occupy a true trailing position in the one wide line, near the 700 metres.
SPEARHEAD – Reared and was fractious in the early stages of the score up, a warning was issued.
THIS GENERATION – Hung in near the 400 metres and when being straightened then ran up and ever so slightly brushed the tyre of MAJOR BOLT causing the tyre to be punctured, a warning was issued.
MAJOR JOLT – Sustained a flat tyre on the near side when THIS GENERATION brushed its sulky wheel.
RACE 7 – TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION PACE – 1800MS
WATCHME RUN – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested in the final straight.
MY GOLDEN EAGLE – Driver S. Pascoe was reprimanded under Rule 168(1)(a) for the lack of care she exhibited when leaving the track, in particular the speed she was travelling as she left the track and returned to the stabling area.
MAMMALS DESTINY – Driver D. Girardi was reprimanded under Rule 165(1)(b) for attempting to move into the one wide line, near the 1600 metres, when not clear to do so, tightening the racing room of ILLAWONG KIM which was racing to his inside.
TRADE WHISPERS – Galloped out when the start was effected, will be drawn wide in future mobile start events. Had difficulty finding a clear run over the final 400 metres of the event and was never fully tested.
LILLYSHELAINE – Had difficulty finding a clear run between the 400 metres and the 200 metres, however, utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.
ILLAWONG KIM – Tightened near the 1600 metres when MAMMALS DESTINY attempted to move into one wide line in advance of her.
SUPLEMENTRY REPORT
Globe Derby Park, Tuesday 2/8/22 – RACE 3 - BIANCO REINFORCING PACE.
Following the disappointing performance of PERSIUS on the 2.8.22 trainer M. Norman advised Stewards that subsequent to the event, blood samples that were taken from PERSIUS revealed that the gelding was showing the signs of the onset of a viral infection and it was his intention to treat the issue and not present PERSIUS for racing until such time he was confident the gelding would return to its best form.
