Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 – TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY PACE – 1800MS

ONLY IN ROME NZ – Driver A Coad was reminded of his obligations of providing sufficient room to runners on his inside once the horses had crossed the finish line, as he had tightened WHOEE JOHNSON and caused it to race over marker pegs shortly after the race had ended.

WEWILL HAIL CAESAR – Unable to find clear running over the final 400 metres of the event and was not able to be fully tested in the run to the finish.

WHOEE JOHNSON – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event. The foot of driver S Pascoe slipped from the stirrup near the finish line but she immediately placed her foot back in the stirrup, Stewards noted the circumstances.

BIEN HOA NZ – As per HRSA policy for horses aged 12 years or older, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.

STYLISH HEAVEN – Hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 250 metres, a warning was issued. Had difficulty finding a clear run between the 400 metres and the 200 metres but when clear was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

MARTYS PARTY – Unable to find clear running over the final 400 metres of the event and was not able to be fully tested in the run to the finish.

GIANT JACKSON – Had difficulty finding a clear run between the 400 metres and the 200 metres but when clear was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 2 – BIANCO REINFORCING PACE – 1800MS

A false start was declared at the first attempt to start the event due to COME ON SLOOPY breaking gait in the middle stages of the score up and causing interference to the second line runners when attempting to regain its position on the front line, consequently COME ON SLOOPY will be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

RUN FOR STIKKA – Raced fiercely in the score up, showed gate speed and worked forward three wide to sit at the head of the one out line, then had a tendency to over-race whilst racing in that position.

GIFTEDFROMTHEHEART – Stewards questioned driver S. Forby regarding the tactics he adopted, in particular hid decision to go forward after the start was effected, considering trainer P Westbury had advised Stewards it was his intention for GIFTEDFROMTHEHEART to be restrained at the start. S. Forby stated that after the false start was declared at the first attempt, GIFTEDFROMTHEHEART had become fierce and he believed it would be detrimental to the gelding’s chances if he tried to restrain and didn’t feel he would be able to get back to the rear of the field without the risk of the GIFTEDFROMTHEHEART choking down. Stewards noted the circumstances and his explanation.

PAIGE ONE – Raced fiercely in the score up, Stewards questioned driver D. Billinger regarding the tactics he adopted, in particular hid decision to sit three wide for the entirety of the event. D. Billinger stated that after the false start was declared PAIGE ONE had become fierce and never settled in the run, he was also aware RUN FOR STIKKA was over-racing, so the position outside the leader was not available, consequently he tried to get the mare to settle but he was unable to do so, hence he had to remain three wide for the event. Stewards noted the circumstances and his explanation.

RACE 3 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1800MS

A false start was declared at the first attempt, as well at the second attempt to start the event, due to WITH AUTHORITY breaking gait in the latter stages of each score up and causing interference to the second line runners, consequently, in accordance with Rule 141(4) WITH AUTHORITY was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards. WITH AUTHORITY will be drawn wide in future mobile start events.

SUTTER MAN – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

BOSS MAJOR – Checked and raced roughly near the 400 metres, when WHISTLE ON BY gave ground in advance of him.

WHISTLE ON BY – Gave ground from the 400 metres to eventually be beaten 45.0 metres, a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer D. Thomas believed the two false starts had played a significant part in the performance of the mare, as well as the fact she had been used early to work forward and sit outside the leader for the entirety of the event, he also believed WHISTLE ON BY may need a freshen up. Stewards were mindful of the circumstances and noted the performance and explanation.

BETTOR BEONTOIT NZ – At the request of connections, re-instated in the mobile barrier draw.

GEORGIE MAE – Had a tendency to over race when racing on the marker pegs, due to the two false starts Stewards elected to simply note the circumstances. Utilised the sprint lane, when it became available, and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

HESEVERSOCLEVER – Had a tendency to over race when racing in the running line, due to the two false starts Stewards elected to simply note the circumstances.

RACE 4 – KINGSFORD HOTEL PACE – 1800MS

NO ULTIMATUMS – Had a tendency to hang in during the early stages of the score up and then hang out in the latter stages of the score up, a warning was issued.

BOAK – Stewards reminded driver B. Scaffidi of his obligations relating to giving sufficient racing room to horses racing on his inside, after racing too tight on WATCHME RUN as the field raced into the first turn.

FUMIA REACTOR – Driver J Clark had difficulty activating the removable ear plugs as the horses raced down the final straight. Stewards recommended he take the necessary steps to ensure he does not have the same issues in future events.

SHELDON – Had a tendency to over race when racing on the marker pegs, utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

BODYLINE – Had difficulty finding a clear run between the 400 metres and the 200 metres but when clear was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

ROCKSTAR DIVA – Raced roughly after the start was effected, a warning was issued.

RACE 5 – ANGLE VALE HARDWARE & FODDER PACE – 1800MS

SAMARA FURY – Stewards questioned driver S. Pascoe regarding the sectional times set whilst leading, as she was outside the required times. S. Pascoe stated that she had difficulty steering SAMARA FURY, due to the near side rein not being fitted correctly and this had caused the slow sectionals. Stewards questioned trainer G. Howard regarding the incorrectly fitted gear and he confirmed this was the case, consequently Stewards fined G. Howard $100.00 for incorrectly fitting the rein and directed him to take the necessary steps to ensure this could not happen again.

SUNSHINEINPARADISE – Raced four wide early and then raced fiercely when being restrained to the rear of the field. SUNSHINEINPARADISE then commenced to give ground from the 400 metres to eventually be beaten 64.0 metres, a post-race veterinarian examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer B. Giorgio stated that due to the gelding racing so fiercely whilst being restrained and the slow sectional times through this period, he believed SUNSHINEINPARADISE partially choked and this is why it gave ground over the final 400 metres of the event. Stewards accepted the explanation of B. Giorgio and placed a warning on the gelding’s performance.

TUSCAN STAR – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 6 – HYGAIN REGAIN TROTTERS HANDICAP – 2230SS

THEBESTOFFICIAL – Inconvenienced near the 300 metres by the tiring ORLANDOS GIFT. At the request of connections, re-instated in the standing start barrier draw.

QUICK QUAKER – Swung sideways when the barrier strands were released, the gelding will remain right out of the draw in standing start events.

FAIRYTALE HALL – Galloped out once the start was effected, a warning was issued.

PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN – Checked and broke after the start when QUICK QUAKER, which was drawn in advance of him, swung sideways as the tapes were released.

KABAYO KING – Inconvenienced after the start when QUICK QUAKER, which was drawn in advance of him, swung sideways as the tapes were released. Broke gait free of interference near the 200 metres, a warning was issued.

AUNTY ETHAL – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 7 – ADELAIDE FESTIVAL CENTRE PACE – 1800MS

VALBARANN – Had a tendency to over race when racing in the position at the head of the one out line.

ON THE CASE – Utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 8 – FLY LIKE AN EAGLE PACE – 1800MS

PRECIOUS CARGO – Showed gate speed and led the event, however, elected to take a trail on the back of JEFFREY near the1350 metres.

JEFFREY – After showing gate speed and working to the lead near the 1350 metres the gelding had a tendency to race erratically and run up the track or hang in throughout the entire event, a warning was issued.

WHITE STAR TOMMY – Gave ground from the 600 metres to eventually be beaten 191.0 metres, a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, stood down until the completion of one re-qualifying trial.

DIDMESELFAMISCHIEF – Checked and raced roughly near the 550 metres. At the request of connections, re-instated in the mobile barrier draw. Stewards questioned drivers W. Hill and D. Smith (MAJOR WEST) regarding the circumstances surrounding the interference to DIDMESELFAMISCHIEF, which occurred near the 550 metres. D. Smith stated that his runner had reacted to the movement of the two runners in advance of him, in particular the racing characteristics of JEFFREY which had been running up and down the track quite significantly, causing PRECIOUS CARGO (S. Pascoe) to move up the track and in turn making MAJOR WEST shift up slightly but sufficiently to brush the near side front leg of DIDMESELFAMISCHIEF. W. Hill stated that he also had been concerned with the racing manners of JEFFREY and was not aware of the movement of the runner to his inside, which may have played some part in the incident. Based on the driver’s evidence, the race replay and the racing manners of JEFFREY, Stewards believed that the appropriate action was to place a reprimand on driver D. Smith, for contributing to the interference, however, they believed the mitigating circumstances did not warrant a more significant penalty.

FOREVER BETTOR NZ – Hung in during the early stages of the score up, a warning was issued.

MAJOR WEST – Broke in the score and was out of position when the start was effected, will be drawn wide in future mobile start events. Driver D. Smith was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for contributing to the interference to DIDMESELFAMISCHIEF.

RACE 9 – FIRST CARE MEDICAL PACE – 2230MS

WHITESTARCHRISTIAN – Raced fiercely during the score up, a warning was issued. Had difficulty finding clear running from the 400 metres to the 200 metres, however, utilised the sprint lane when it became available and was fully tested over the concluding stages of the event.
