Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided stewards with their intentions prior to the event

RACE 1 - BARGAIN STEEL CENTRE PACE (NR up to 46) – 1800MS

After entering the back straight with about 1400 metres remaining KEILAH NZ (G Bell) broke gait apparently free of interference and lost ground.  Near the 1300 metres the sulky of KEILAH NZ was contacted heavily by the sulky of BARNEY FELLA (MA Smith) resulting in both G Bell and MA Smith being dislodged.  The race was called off.

MA Smith was examined by the First Care Officers and passed fit to continue to drive.

After being examined by Ambulance personnel G Bell was transported to hospital for further precautionary examination.

An inquiry into the incident will occur when Driver G Bell is available.

RACE 2 - CAREER EMPLOYMENT GROUP TROTTERS HANDICAP (NR 54 or better) – 2230SS

LOVELORN – Settled leaders back – Over raced in the middle stages – From the 300 metres was held up, prior to using the sprint lane.

ZIGZAGZOO NZ – Led – In the final straight shifted out under pressure – Driver D Smith was issued a reprimand under Rule  and advised to make a greater effort to straighten runners in future.

IM HECTOR – Near the 1600 metres obtained a trail when crossed by ALDEBARAN ALISSA NZ.

LORD CHANCELLOR – From the 300 metres became held up between runners – In the final straight was unable to obtain clear running – Inside the 100 metres was steadied off the back of ALDEBARAN ALISSA NZ – Approaching the finish was held up and unable to be tested – Driver T Brown reported that he had not activated deafeners.

ARMCHAIR DRIVE – From the 300 metres became held up briefly.

ALDEBARAN ALISSA NZ – Three wide in the early stages, worked forward to head the running line near the 1600 metres – Raced outside the leader for the remainder of the race.

CHAMPAGNE PRINCE NZ – Inside the 300 metres broke gait as IM HECTOR improved to its inside, a warning was issued – Driver W Hill reported that the prior to the 300 metres the horse was working into the race but felt the horse to be performing below its best form.  Trainer L O’Neill added that he would experiment with gear changes prior to the horse racing again.

RACE 3 - TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE (NR up to 53) – 1800MS

AMMICCHI – Settled leaders back – From the 300 metres was held up, prior to using the sprint lane.

CELESTIAL DAYBREAK – After showing gate speed, worked forward to the lead – Over raced wheinto the race n leading.

STEINMAN NZ – Near the 1300 metres obtained a trail when crossed by MAJOR MAD.

MARTYS PARTY – Near the 1700 metres was eased to a trailing position in the running line – From the 1500 metres eased to a trail on the markers.

WESAIDSO – Three wide in the early stages, restrained to the rear.

MAJOR MAD – Three wide in the early stages – Worked forward three/four wide from the 1600 metres to the position outside the leader – Raced outside the leader from the 1300 metres.

KAHINA – Broke gait after the start, will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile races - After entering the final straight was unable to obtain clear running – Approaching the finish was held up and unable to be tested.

JUST CHAI – Out of position at the start – Driver D Hill fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to make a reasonable attempt to make the gate – Three wide in the early stages, restrained to the rear.

BAYONET SOLDIER – Out of position at the start – Used the sprint lane – Subsequent to te race was examined by the veterinary surgeon who confirmed BAYONET SOLDIER had suffered bleeding from one nostril.  Trainer S Allen was advised that subject to HRSA Policy and Rule 101B(1) the horse was stood down from racing for 14 days and then must trial satisfactorily prior to racing.  Driver L Ryan fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to make a reasonable attempt to make the gate – L Ryan provide a submission to Stewards in regard to her efforts prior to the start.  After considering the Driver’s submission, Stewards confirmed their initial decision.

RACE 4 - RMT BOOKKEEPING PACE (NR 54 to 61) – 1800MS

ACES DAUGHTER – Fractious in the score up, a warning was issued - From the 300 metres was held up, prior to using the sprint lane.

ANIMAL - After showing gate speed, was restrained in the early stages – Near the 1000 metres obtained a trail when crossed by ALAKAZAM - From the 300 metres was held up between runners – After entering the final straight had difficulty obtaining clear running and not fully tested.

TOBY OGARA NZ – Near the 1500 metres eased to leaders back – From the 300 metres was held up briefly -

CASSIUS NZ – Near the 1600 metres eased to a trailing position in the running line.

WHITESTARCHRISTIAN – After showing gate speed was three wide in the early stages then restrained to the rear -

THE KAPITI EXPRESS NZ – Subjected to a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start – Driver W Hill fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to make a reasonable attempt to make the gate – W Hill explained that he had considered working forward prior to ALAKAZAM but had maintained his position aware that THE KAPITI EXPRESS NZ was resuming from a long break – He said that when he did commit to working forward the field became bunched and he was obliged to continue his run wider than he would have preferred.

ALAKAZAM – Near the 1300 metres as the pace eased, broke gait briefly (no action was taken) – From the 1300 metres worked forward three wide to the position outside the leader – From the 1000 metres raced outside the leader -

RACE 5 - HYGAIN RELEASE PACE (NR 62 to 72) – 1800MS

SABREUR NZ – On arrival on course was observed to have blood in one nostril – Subject to a veterinary examination on arrival and again prior to the race and passed fit to start.

VICTORY MEDAL NZ – From the 300 metres was held up briefly.

STAR WRITER – Raced roughly in the score up, a warning was issued – In the early stages was eased into a trailing position in the running line.

JULIUS FRANCO – Near the 1500 metres obtained a trail when crossed by JAKES SPORTWRITER -

BEE GEES BANDIT – Near the 1600 metres was eased to a trailing position on the markers – Used the sprint lane.

JAKES SPORTWRITER – After showing gate speed, was three wide in the early stages – Worked forward to the position outside the leader – Raced outside the leader throughout.

MR KIWI NZ – Settled leaders back.

RACE 6 - 2022 VALLEY HORSE TRANSPORT SA TROTTERS DERBY – 2230MS

EMMA JOY NZ – Subjected to a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start.

SAINT SEBASTIAN – After showing gate speed, raced outside the leader throughout.

SO VOGUE – Near the 1000 metres lost its action behind briefly – Near the 700 metres broke gait free of interference, a warning was issued.

ATOUT – Raced roughly in the score up, a warning was issued - Settled leaders back - From the 300 metres was held up, prior to using the sprint lane.

GOODGIRLSAVENGER – Broke gait after the start, will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile races - Took no competitive part.

GRAYWOODS DIAMOND – After showing gate speed, was eased to a trailing position in the running line .

HESANAVENGER – Out of position at the start, will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile races.

Trainer L O’Neill was fined $50 under Rule 238 when failing to adhere to the requirements of Officials who sought to have the Trainers runners 4 ATOUT and 5 GOODGIRLSAVENGER race in the correct colours.

RACE 7 - AGILE BUSINESS ADVISORY PACE – 1800MS

PARTYATTHEBEACH – Settled leaders back - From the 300 metres was held up, prior to using the sprint lane.

KICKAPOO CREEK – Near the 1600 metres eased to a trailing position on the markers – From the 400 metres gave ground – A warning was issued regarding the performance (Btn 67.2 mtrs).

MAJOR JOLT – Near the 1700 metres eased to a trailing position in the running line.

GIFTEDFROMTHEHEART – After showing gate speed, raced outside the leader throughout.

DIRECT COMMAND NZ – Three wide in the early stages, restrained to the rear.

GROWLERS LAST – Near the 1600 metres eased to a trailing position in the running line – Near the 300 metres was held up briefly between runners.

TUSCAN STAR – Near the 1200 metres was inconvenienced when KICKAPOO CREEK gave ground.

This Report and the Stewards Comments for the race meeting may be amended at the discretion of the Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) Stewards as races are routinely reviewed.
