RACE 1 – CONQUEST POOLS PACE – 1740 metres

 

SMOKIN TALLY – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

BILLY GLANVILL– Pre-race swab sampled. Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event. Post-race swab sampled.

JONG ANG – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued.

MAJOR LINCOLN – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take over the lead from SHEZA CRACKER approaching the 1200 metres.

BODACIOUS BREW– Hung-out during the score-up and was out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued.

 

RACE 2 – NSWBC REGIONAL 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS HEAT – 1740 metres

 

DOCTOR BRYAN – Hung-out after the start for which a warning was issued, as a result contacted the sulky wheel of SPORTING RAGE and raced roughly.

SPORTING RAGE– Sulky wheel contacted by DOCTOR BRYAN shortly after the start. Post-race swab sampled.

CAPTAINS CATCH – Pre-race swab sampled.

SPECULATING– Broke gait free of interference leaving the 1400 metres, for which a warning was issued.

 

RACE 3 – HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY VIVIAN HARRIS PACE – 1740 metres

 

LOVE AT FIRST BITE – Pre-race swab sampled.

BUNDLE OF NOTES– Worked forward to take over the lead from CRAFTY MATCH approaching the 1400 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 4 – STEEL SUPPLIES PACE – 1740 metres

 

ROLL WITH RUBY – Broke gait during the score-up and a false start was declared, given the mare’s record connections were advised that it would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races. Raced roughly leaving the 1400 metres. Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from a poor post-race recovery. Given the mare’s record connections were advised that it would be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and would be required to perform 2 re-qualifying trials.

LIGHTNING BAY – Hung-in entering the first turn. Hung-out approaching the 1200 metres. Raced ungenerously leaving the 1200 metres. Hung-in approaching the 400 metres, given the circumstances and the gelding’s record connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer/Driver S Harris reported that he was at a loss to explain the way the gelding raced tonight and felt something may be amiss with it and was going to have his Veterinarian examine it further in the coming days. He undertook to report any adverse findings and if there weren’t any, advised he was likely to spell the gelding.

CRACKER MISS– Worked forward to take over the lead from ROLL WITH RUBY leaving the 1400 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

SEATTLE TRACE– Pre-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 5 – NSWBC REGIONAL 2YO FILLIES HEAT – 1740 metres

 

DELILAH ROSE– Post-race swab sampled.

FE FE ON FIRE– Sulky wheel contacted by SUMMER BAY BREW shortly after the start.

SUMMER BAY BREW – Driver S Hallcroft was issued with a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that shortly after the start he shifted the gelding in when not sufficiently clear of the back of FE FE ON FIRE,andcontacted that runners sulky wheel resulting in his runner breaking gait. Raced roughly near the 200 metres.

BOKO DELIGHT – Raced roughly during the score-up and was out of position at the start, as it was the filly’s first race start, connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the draw. Broke gait approaching the 1400 metres. Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the filly would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

MODERN MILEY – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1400 metres.

ROLL WITH JULIETTE– Pre-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 6 – WHRC AGM 4 DECEMBER PACE – 1740 metres

 

MOST TRIUMPHANT – Broke gait during the score-up, for which a warning was issued.

NEED A PENNY – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres. Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin, connections were advised the gelding would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

RORYVILLE– Pre-race swab sampled. Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

MICK DANGER– Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader approaching the 1000 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 7 – HARNESS TRADING RING AUSTRALIA PACE – 1740 metres

 

EAGLES AND INDIANS – Hung-in and contacted marker pegs near the 200 metres, for which a warning was issued.

THATS ART– Worked forward to take over the lead from TEXAS RED NZ approaching the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

SECURITY CHECK– Pre-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 8 – WARATAH HEAT – 1740 metres

 

WESTERN BELLE– Post-race swab sampled.

SHADES OF HEAVEN– Pre-race swab sampled. Forced wider on the track leaving the 1400 metres when SIX AGAIN shifted out, then raced three wide until working forward to take over the position outside the leader near the 1200 metres.

BEAU BROWN– Out of position at the start. Driver T Gilligan was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile with the gelding until the start.

WARRADERRY – Raced three wide from the start, forced out wider when SIX AGAIN shifted out taking SHADES OF HEAVEN up the track, then continued to race three until working forward to take over the position outside the leader near the 1000 metres.

WEONA BRANACH– Broke gait free of interference leaving the 800 metres, for which a warning was issued.

SIX AGAIN– Shifted out leaving the 1400 metres taking SHADES OF HEAVEN and WARRADERRYwider. At a subsequent inquiry Driver T Osmond pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) for making another runner cover more ground prior to the point where permitted to do so in that leaving the 1400 metres she shifted her runner out when not clear of SHADES OF HEAVEN which was forced out to a three wide position taking WARRADERRY out wider. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account T Osmond’s guilty plea, her clear record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver T Osmond had her license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence at midnight the 28th of November.

 

RACE 9 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1740 metres

 

SO MUCH BETTOR– Post-race swab sampled.

DAYLIGHT AT DAWN– Pre-race swab sampled.

IRVINE – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the race.

CLOWNS TOTHE LEFT – Caught racing three wide from the start before being restrained to take up a position on the marker pegs at the rear of the field approaching the 1200 metres.

 

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT – WAGGA 22ND NOVEMBER – Race 8

 

INSPECTOR CALLAHAN – At an inquiry conducted today, Driver T Day pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that he used his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion rounding the home turn and in the home straight in the above race. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that this was his second whip rule breach within 60 days of the first breach. T Day was fined the sum of $400.
