RACE 1 – STEEL SUPPLIES PACE – 2270 metres

FAMOUS THREE– Over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event, for which a warning was issued.

THE CLOCK WINDER – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1800 metres. Driver S Hallcroft reported that the gelding carried a flat tyre from near the 600 metres.

CRAFTY MATCH – Stewards permitted the late Driver change of David Druitt for the gelding, due to Joe Druitt being held up at his work resulting in him being unable to fulfil his engagement. Out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued. Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres.

SHELDON ROCK – Hung-out at various stages throughout the event, for which a warning was issued. Trainer M Day reported that he would adjust the gelding’s gear in an endeavour to stop it hanging. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the race. Driver J Painting was questioned regarding him dropping his foot from the sulky rest leaving the 200 metres, he stated that with the gelding hanging-out he was unable to use his hand to pull the deafener chord and had difficulty getting them to release with his foot. Given the circumstances, no action was taken, other than to remind J Painting of his obligations under the rules when using his foot to activate gear.

MY GIRL LUCY – Was inclined to hang-out at various stages throughout the event.

RACE 2 – HARNESS TRADING RING AUSTRALIA PACE – 2270 metres

Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader leaving the 1400 metres.

MISTER COLE– Post-race swab sampled.

MAJORESS JUJON – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

RACE 4 – CONQUEST POOLS PACE – 2270 metres

QUICK STEP NZ– Over-raced during the middle stages of the event, resulting in Driver A Pitt having difficulty restraining the mare. Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from a poor post-race recovery. Trainer/Driver A Pitt reported that she was surprised that the mare over-raced like she did tonight, but in hindsight may have given her too easy a time between runs. Connections were advised that the mare would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial prior to its next race start.

MY MAGIC MERLIN– Pre-race swab sampled. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to lead the running line leaving the 1800 metres. Tired over the concluding stages of the race.
