RACE 1 – CLUB MEMBERSHIPS ARE NOW DUE MAIDEN PACE – 1740 metres

SOHO MATISSE– Out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver Adam Richardson.  After considering the recent record of the filly, a warning was issued.

JUST CALL ME HARRY– Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.

SPECULATING– Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to a position in the running line passing the 1300 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

ERNESTO– Pre-race blood sample.  Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding had not competed in the previous 12 months.  The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RACE 2 – HARNESS TRADING RING AUSTRALIA PACE – 1740 metres

TYGERPHINN– Held up in the home straight and not fully tested. 

PYRRHIC DANCER– Improved three wide from the 950 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 800 metres.

ISNTTHATRIGHT– Worked forward to the lead passing the 1300 metres.

ELEGANTDANCER– Improved three wide from the 850 metres and continued to race wide for the remainder of the event. 

PHIZZWIZARD– Pulled hard during the score up and despite the efforts of driver Cameron Bryce was forward of the mobile barrier arms from a point approximately 50 metres prior to the start until reaching the starting point but was restrained behind the mobile barrier arm prior to the green light being activated.  Immediately upon the completion of the event Stewards withheld the declaration of All Clear to review the films with regards to the position of the gelding prior to and at the start of the event.  After reviewing the films and despite the gelding being in front of the mobile barrier arm for the final 50 metres of the score up were satisfied that Cameron Bryce immediately restrained the gelding at the start of the event until reaching the tail of the field and therefore the gelding had not gained any advantage and was deemed a runner in the event. All Clear was given on the judge’s numbers of 8-6-2-5. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Bryce and the recent record of the gelding, it was given its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

MOVIN ON UP– Pre-race blood sample.  Improved three wide from the 1300 metres until obtaining the lead passing the 1000 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

RACE 3 – CONGRATULATION GRANT COELI 1ST CAREER TRAINING WIN PACE – 1740 metres

BLACK ART NZ– Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1250 metres.

EUCAN ROLL– Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to a position in the running line passing the 1400 metres. 

ESCAPE ARTIST– Pre-race blood sample.

ALWAYS BE CHLOE– Improved three wide from the 1300 metres until obtaining the lead passing the 1200 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

RACE 4 – CONQUEST POOLS LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres

SASHA– Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to a position in the running line passing the 1350 metres.

SMASH IT– Post-race swab sample.

ARMA MISS– Pre-race blood sample.  Improved three wide from the 1000 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 700 metres.

LONDON LADY– Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event and worked forward until a point passing the 1200 metres where it commenced to be restrained to the tail of the field.

MAJORESS JUJON– Driver Blake Micallef was cautioned under Rule 156(2)(a) for the manner in which he applied the whip to the gelding in the home straight.

RACE 5 – BENSTUD PACE – 2270 metres

OMBRA ARTOIS– Stewards questioned driver Adam Richardson with regards to the tactics he adopted in the middle stages of the event, in particular his decision to withstand the challenge of YAREADYFREDDY between the 1350 metres and the 1200 metres, in addition to the overall performance of the mare which commenced to tire badly from the 600 metres and being retired from the event.  Mr Richardson advised Stewards that he was provided instructions by trainer Norm Jerrick to be in a forward position in the run and in normal circumstances would have handed up to YAREADYFREDDY however when that runner galloped in the early stages of the event he no longer felt it was a horse he wanted to take cover from.  Mr Richardson was unable to explain the performance of the mare however advised that it commenced to run up the track from the 600 metres at which point he was having difficulty steering the mare and elected to retire OMBRA ARTOIS from the event.  A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  After considering the explanation provided by Mr Richardson, and while Stewards were of the view, that he should have acceded to the challenge of YAREADYFREDDY Stewards were not satisfied that the driving of Adam Richardson was the sole reason for the performance of the mare and as a result OMBRA ARTIOS was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

SCHIAVONE NZ– Severely checked and raced roughly as a result of BEAU STEELE shifting down the track when not sufficiently clear of RINGOS A STAR and YAREADYFREDDY upon entry to the first turn.

YAREADYFREDDY– Checked and broke upon entry to the first turn as a result of BEAU STEELE shifting down the track when not sufficiently clear and checking RINGOS A STAR and SCHIAVONE NZ.  Improved three wide from the 1500 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres. Driver Mark Hewitt was cautioned under Rule 156(2)(a) for the manner in which he applied the whip to the gelding in the home straight.

RINGOS A STAR– Pre-race blood sample.  Checked upon entry to the first turn when BEAUSTEELE shifted down the track without sufficient clearance.

SCOTTIE MACH– Inconvenienced when YAREADYFREDDY was checked and broke at the first turn.  Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position in the running line passing the 1600 metres.

BEAU STEELE– Driver John Downey pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that upon entry to the first turn he commenced to shift his runner down the track without sufficient clearance and as a result checked RINGOS A STAR, YAREADYFREDDY and SCHIAVONE NZ causing YAREADYFREDDY to break stride, further checking REASON TO BE and inconvenience SCOTTIE MACH and DUST TO DIAMONDS.  After considering the recent record of Mr Downey his licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 21 days.

REASON TO BE– Checked upon entry to the first turn as a result of YAREADYFREDDY being checked and breaking stride.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER– Post-race swab sample.  Driver Melissa Hawke pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(3) for unapproved whip use, in that she applied the whip to the mare in the home straight in a manner which was considered continuous and failed to provide opportunity for the mare to respond.  After considering the recent record of Miss Hawke she was fined $200.

DUST TO DIAMONDS– Inconvenienced upon entry to the first turn as a result of YAREADYFREDDY being checked and breaking stride.

RACE 6 – SUCCESS STUD PACE – 1740 metres

GOOD TIME NEDRA– Pre-race blood sample. 

TALKERUP NZ– Over raced during the middle stages of the event.

NOT TO BE DENIED– Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the lead passing the 1250 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

QUICK STEP NZ– Driver Adam Richardson was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing to have the mare in position at the start of the event.  Driver Adam Richardson was cautioned in relation to his whip use.

RACE 7 – WOODLANDS STUD LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres

JUSTROLLINGAROUND– Held up in the middle stages of the home straight passing the 125 metres.

SKREEMR NZ– Worked forward to the lead passing the 1000 metres.  Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

KEYANG TREASURE– Post-race swab sample.

KNIGHT KISS– Pre-race blood sample. 

SPORTINGJOY NZ– Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.

RACE 8 – NUTRIEN EQUINE PACE – 1740 metres

JUST ROCKNROLL– Driver Jackson Painting was cautioned under Rule 156(2)(a) for the manner in which he applied the rein to the gelding in the home straight.

SERG BLANCO NZ– Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

BARRETT– Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons for BARRETT racing roughly upon entry to the first turn.  After taking evidence from James Locke the driver of BARRETT and Jared Kahlefeldt the driver of HARRY OVENS it was established that upon entry to the first turn James Locke had commenced to shift BARRETT up the track from a position on the marker pegs at a similar point to Jared Kahlefeldt shifting HARRY OVENS down the track for a position three wide, until a point upon entry to the first turn where they jostled for the same racing position in the running line for a short distance and as a result BARRETT contacted the near side sulky wheel of WESTERN BILL and raced roughly.  After considering the evidence of both drivers in addition to the footage of the incident it was established that the blame for the incident could not be attributed to one driver and as a result both drivers were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

RACE 9 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1740 metres

ROMANEE NZ– Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

KING OF TRUMPS NZ– Driver Alanah Pitt was reminded of her obligations in relation to ensuring her runner maintains its position on the marker pegs upon entry to the home straight so as not to avail opportunities for runners to have an uninterrupted run to her inside.

CRIME DONT PAY– Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1400 metres.
