RACE 1 – RIVERINA CRANE 2YO PACE – 1740 metres

 

SELECTIVE MEMORY – Raced roughly approaching the 1400 metres, connections were advised the filly would be placed on its last chance to race truly.

UNLUCKY – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

EPIC ERNIE– Pre-race swab sampled. Raced ungenerously while being restrained after the start.

BRAVO STRIDE– Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 2 – CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHIL FROST MAIDEN PACE – 1740 metres

 

ULTIMATE STINGRAY– Pre-race swab sampled. Broke gait free of interference near the 1400 metres, for which a warning was issued.

NICKY KHAN – Hung-in after the start.

MISTA MACNEEDY– Post-race swab sampled.

REDBANK NEEDY– Out of position at the candy pole prior to the start. Driver C Bryce was reminded of his obligations to get his runners to commence their score-up following the correct procedure so they will be in position at the candy pole.

VERY NEEDY – Tired over the concluding stages of the race.

FOR A CARTON – Raced three wide without cover from leaving the 1200 metres, before tiring over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 3 – NORTH SHORE CAFE PACE – 2270 metres

 

TROUBLE LOOMING– Worked forward to take over the lead from NO MORE PROMISES near the 1600 metres.

NO MORE PROMISES – Pre-race swab sampled. Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from a poor post-race recovery. Connections were advised that she would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial prior to its next race start.

MILLYS PRINCE– Driver P Maguire who could not fulfil his commitment to drive the gelding due to illness, was advised that he would be required to provide a medical certificate of fitness prior to his next race drive. Dropped its near side shin and tendon boot over the concluding stages. Driver S Maguire was given the opportunity to comment on the seemingly improved performance of the gelding, he stated that he was able to settle in a good position in the early stages of the race without doing any work, which suited over the longer distance of today’s race. He added that the stable appeared reasonably confident of a forward showing prior to the race, as they felt the gelding’s work was good leading into it. Trainer’s representative P Maguire stated that he felt the extra distance of today’s race suited the gelding. He added that at its two most recent starts it had been caught racing on the marker pegs when it needed to get going, but today after settling in the running line was able to progress into the race at the ideal time. Post-race swab sampled.

FAMOUS THREE – Out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued.

HOLD BACK THE RIVER NZ – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

FREDEE TEE – Made a three wide mid race move to take over the position outside the leader near the 1200 metres. Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

 

RACE 4 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE – 2270 metres

 

ELEGANTDANCER– Pre-race swab sampled.

THE CLOCK WINDER– Driver S Hallcroft momentarily dropped his foot from the sulky rest leaving the 200 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

FLANEUR – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

MY GIRL LUCY – Hung-out rounding the turn approaching the 200 metres.

 

RACE 5 – RUNNERS RELIEF PACE – 2270 metres

 

SHIREEN – Broke gait free of interference approaching the 1800 metres and again near the 400 metres, connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

OUR THUNDER – Inconvenienced approaching the 1800 metres when SHIREEN broke gait. Tired over the concluding stages of the race.

ENDLESS – Inconvenienced approaching the 1800 metres when SHIREEN broke gait.

ORATORIA– Pre-race swab sampled. Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take over the lead from SHES MY LITTLE GEM approaching the 1600 metres.

BROOKLYN BRIDGE– Post-race swab sampled.

SHES MY LITTLE GEM– Driver R Coelli was fined $50 under Rule 159A(4) for wearing shoes while driving in this race that are not compliant. Worked forward to the lead near the 1800 metres when SHIREEN broke gait.

 

RACE 6 – HAPPY RETIREMENT MAAJIDA PACE – 2270 metres

 

POCKET LINE – Hung-in and contacted marker pegs near the 200 metres.

NATIONAL NEWS– Pre-race swab sampled. Worked forward to take over the lead from POCKET LINE approaching the 1800 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

TASHS SPARTAN – Raced three wide from the start before working forward to take up the position outside the leader approaching the 1800 metres.

NEVADA YANKEE– Declared a late scratching at 10.28am by Order of Stewards, due to it being sold.

NOBLE TRICK – Forced wider on the track leaving the 800 metres when LESLEIGH shifted out.

LESLEIGH – Shifted out leaving the 800 metres taking NOBLE TRICKwider. At a subsequent inquiry Driver P Turner pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) for making another runner cover more ground prior to the point where permitted to do so in that leaving the 800 metres he shifted his runner out when not clear of NOBLE TRICK which was forced out to a four wide position. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account P Turner’s guilty plea, his relatively good driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver P Turner had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence at midnight the 12th of August.

 

RACE 7 – HARNESS TRADING RING AUSTRALIA PACE – 1740 metres

 

SCHIAVONE NZ– Hung-out near the 200 metres.

HEAVENS HURRICANE– Pre-race swab sampled.

ALLY ROGAN – Raced three wide from the start before being restrained to obtain a position with cover in the running line near the 1400 metres. Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.

GLENLEA HANOVER– Driver R Coelli was fined $50 under Rule 159A(4) for wearing shoes while driving in this race that are not compliant. Unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight.

HIRANYA NZ– Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 8 – SOUTHWEST STOCKFEEDS PACE – 1740 metres

 

IM OK– Hung-out near the 200 metres.

IDEAL ESCAPE– Worked forward to take over the lead from IM FEELING FIREY near the 1400 metres. Hung-out near the 200 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

AXINITE– Pre-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 9 – HIGHWAY AUTOMOTIVE PACE – 2270 metres

 

GRACIE TALTOA– Pre-race swab sampled.

GOD BLESS YOU– Post-race swab sampled.

ARTIES DIME– Driver R Coelli reported that the mare was contacting its own sulky wheel with its hind leg at various stages throughout the race.

FIRE AND SWORD – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

HESTON ZOOLANDER – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

REDBANK COOPER – Had a tendency to over-race during the middle stages of the event. Hung-in approaching the 200 metres.
