STEWARDS REPORT FOR ECHUCA

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 ECHUCA STEEL SHEDS PACE (1755 MS)

Paul Fidge, trainer of Dont Waste Time was issued a caution for failing to present the mares registration certificate for inspection.

Didshedoit NZ (Jack Laugher) raced roughly after the start was effected. A warning was issued against the mares barrier manners.

Dont Waste Time (Ryan Sanderson) contacted marker pegs passing the 600m.

Jack Laugher, driver of Didshedoit NZ ($2.80) which finished in 6th position beaten 33.8m after racing outside the leader from the 800m was queried into the overall performance of the mare. Mr Laugher attributed the performance to the mare progress into the event after a moderate first quarter as the speed of the event increased from the 1200m combined with the quick final half mile in 56.4 seconds.

RACE 2 MOLLOYS FOOD VANS PACE (2160 MS)

Murano underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Lets Dig It (Mark Pitt) was held up approaching the 200m prior to obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.

Mark Pitt, driver of Lets Dig It reported the deafeners and pull down blinds failed to release & activate upon the gelding.

Damian Wilson, driver of Argy Bargy ($10.00) which finished in 5th position beaten 16.1m after leading was queried into the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Wison advised the gelding over raced throughout the event despite his efforts which was the main contributing factor in the gelding’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Paul Parsons, trainer of Didnt I ($4.00) which finished in 6th position beaten 27.1m was queried into the overall performance of the mare. Mr Parsons advised the mare to be disappointing and could offer no tangible explanation for the performance other than the mare enduring more work than expected during the early stages. Mr Parsons added it would be intentions to obtain blood samples for analysis in the coming days and would notify stewards if any abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare displaying a slower than normal recovery.

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT - 27 JUNE 2022

Paul Parsons, trainer of Didnt I notified subsequent to its performance at Echuca on 22 June 2022, that blood samples obtained from the mare revealed a low white blood cell count indicating the onset of a virus. Further results from these tests were indicative of Didnt I tying up and given the findings, it was Mr Parsons intention to spell the horse from competition for at least four weeks.

RACE 3 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE (2160 MS)

Realy Under Fire underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding attaining the age of 12 years or older & having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Heavensway (Lisa Miles) raced roughly shortly after the start was effected. Heavensway will now be placed on its last chance in the draw.

Heavensway broke gait clear of interference approaching the 600m. Heavensway will now be placed last chance to race truly.

RACE 4 – RICH RIVER GOLF CLUB 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1755 MS)

Rumble Stride NZ (Ryan Sanderson) hung inwards during the latter stages of the score up resulting the gelding being out position when the start was effected. A warning was issued against the gelding’s barrier manners.

Nothingbutwaves (Jack Laugher) raced roughly entering the first turn which inconvenienced Rumble Stride NZ.

Ellen Tormey, driver of Slice Of Cheddar ($5.00) which raced outside the leader for majority of the event prior to yielding ground rapidly from the 500m to finish in 6th and last position beaten 105m was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding. Ms Tormey advised she could offer no tangible explanation for the performance other than connections advising it would be there intentions not to start the gelding again until they were fully satisfied Slice Of Cheddar would compete in a more competitive manner. Slice Of Cheddar will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding displaying a slower than normal recovery.

RACE 5 - M E & J D BLAKE MEMORIAL PACE (1755 MS)

Days End underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Roslyn Gaye (Damian Wilson) raced fiercely throughout the event despite the drivers’ efforts.

Herehecomes (Rebecca Bartly) was held up around the final turn prior to obtaining clear running.

Little Demon (Brad Chisholm) hung inwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

Jack Laugher, driver of Spot On ($5.00) which finished in 9th position beaten 24.5m after racing in a one-one position for majority of the event prior to giving ground from the 500m was queried into the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Laugher contributed the performance to a combination of the gelding being urged forward after the start and the consisted speed throughout the event which placed the gelding under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 6 – ROBERT OWEN MEMORIAL 3YO PACE (1755 MS)

John McLean, trainer of Star Burst Boy was issued a caution for failing to present the gelding registration certificate for inspection.

Trumpys Legend underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of driver Mark Pitt after completing its preliminary. Trumpys Legend was passed fit to start.

Star Burst Boy (Damian Wilson) was extremely fractious prior to the start of the event and will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events.

Jarrad Said (Leigh Sutton) hung inwards passing the 900m and contacted marker pegs.

Alex Ashwood, trainer/driver of Sunshine Warrior ($10.00) which finished in 8th position beaten 38.2m was queried into the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Ashwood attributed the performance to gelding commencing to strike its offside knee when directed wider on the track at the 800m when trailing in a three (3) wide position and failed to race in a genuine manner thereafter. Mr Ashwood advised Sunshine Warrior would be best driven along the marker line when circumstances permit.

Damian Wilson, driver of Star Burst Boy ($5.00) which yielded ground from the 600m to finish in 10th and last position beaten 70.7m was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding. Mr Wilson contributed the performance to the gelding over racing throughout the event and racing without cover. A warning was issued against the gelding’s racing competitiveness.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 7 – LEIGH KENT MEMORIAL PACE (2160 MS)

Platinum Prince NZ (Monique Burnett) pulled hard during the early & middle stages of the event.

RACE 8 – DORRIE SCHMEDJE MEMORIAL TROTTERS HANDICAP (2130 SS)

Bacardi Wood (Gary Pekin) began badly when the start was effected. Bacardi Wood will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future standing start events.

Super Service (Cameron Maggs) broke gait clear of interference approaching the 850m.

Yankee Lover (James Herbertson) broke gait clear of interference approaching the 600m.

Bellmac Bambi (Josh Duggan) & Loose Cash (Brad Chisholm) were both held up around the final turn prior to obtaining clear running.

RACE 9 RICH RIVER GOLF CLUB MAIDEN PACE (2160 MS)

Ima Bad Molly (Kevin Jnr Weidenbach) hung inwards during the score up despite the drivers efforts. Ima Bad Molly will now be placed on its last chance in the draw.

Binno Major (Olivia Weidenbach) pulled hard during the early & middle stages of the event.

Yippee (Peter Anderson) yielded from the 600m to finish in 6th position beaten 102.1m. Yippee will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion.

Ima Bad Molly yielded ground rapidly from the 550m inconveniencing Country Major (Brent Thomson) which was trailing and raced roughly.

Ima Bad Molly hung inwards severely despite the drivers’ efforts and stepped over a marker peg at the 400m and raced roughly prior to finishing in 7th and last position beaten 111.5m. Ima Bad Molly will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
