STEWARDS REPORT FOR CRANBOURNE

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – BLUE HILLS RISE TROT (2080 MS)

Craig Jamieson failed to appear in the racebook as the driver of Mojito Madness.

A false start was declared when Moreflingthanbling hung out in the latter part of the score up and checked Aldebaran Boyd.  Moreflingthanbling will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

At the restart, Herbert broke after the start checking Kyvalley Surfrider NZ which broke.  Herbert will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

Alleyes broke gait when clear of interference at the 700m and has now been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Kyvalley Surfrider NZ utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

Given the placegetters established by the placegetters, no action was taken against the performances of Little Tedey (beaten 51m, 7th), Moreflingthanbling (56m, 8th) and Blanco Canyon (57m, 9th).

RACE 2 MARK GURRY & ASSOCIATES PACE (1609 MS)

Race start time amended to 5.55pm.

Robert Walters replaced Jack Laugher (dual engaged) as the driver of Good Feelings.

Good Feelings which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

River Patrol which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Illawong Phoenix was out of position at the start and has now been placed on its last chance in the mobile draw.

Shallow Beach was held up for clear running on the final turn and in the home straight.

Metro Man utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 3 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROTTERS HANDICAP (2110 SS)

Josh Duggan replaced Daryl Douglas as the driver of Maestro.

Garshaway reared after the start and trailed the field thereafter.  Garshaway will now be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.

Sovereign Tiger began badly and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future stand start events.

Sovereign Tiger broke gait when clear of interference at the 600m.

High In The Sky NZ utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

The all clear was delayed to allow Austin Mifsud, driver of Garshaway to view vision of the start.  After taking evidence from Mr.Mifsud and reviewing video footage Stewards were satisfied that Garshaway had been afforded a fair start and the all clear was then given on the judges placings.

RACE 4 –DUAL CODES KIDS NIGHT OUT - THU 29 DEC PACE (2080 MS)

Corey Bell, driver of Maywyns Jewel was questioned regarding the improved performance of the mare.  Mr.Bell stated that Maywyns Jewel has worked well since a disappointing run when first up from Tasmania and appreciated being able to lead unchallenged from the inside draw.  The comments of Mr.Bell were noted.

RACE 5 -LATHER UP STANDING @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (1609 MS)

No reportable racing incidents.

RACE 6 – DECRON CRANBOURNE CUP - SAT DEC 17 3YO PACE (2080 MS)

Scott Ewen replaced Craig Jamieson as the driver of Shoobee Gotcha.

Josh Dickie failed to appear in the racebook as the driver of Joe The Bookie. Trainer Rickie Alchin was fined $50 for a late driver notification (AHR 210).

Amoldo was fractious before the start and hung in during the score up.  The gelding was out of position at the start and has now been placed on its last chance in the draw in future mobile start events.

A warning was issued against the manners of Rubio NZ which raced roughly after the start.

Pappa Leo utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 7 – CRANBOURNE FENCING PACE (2080 MS)

Wattlebank Flyer NZ which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Lord Verde NZ utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 8 – NUTRIEN EQUINE PACE (2080 MS)

Breathe Easy hung in on the final turn and locked wheels with Night Spirit causing both to lose ground.

Bettor Sport utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

Jordan Leedham, driver of Night Spirit ($3.30) was queried regarding the overall performance of the gelding which gave ground from the 300m to be beaten 38m into last placing.  Mr.Leedham stated that Night Spirit wasn’t suited racing outside the leader throughout and after trying to find the position behind the leader soon after the start the gelding then overraced.  Mr.Leedham indicated that the intention moving forward would be for Night Spirit to lead or find cover.  The comments by Mr.Leedham were noted.
