STEWARDS REPORT FOR CRANBOURNE

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 HYGAIN 3YO PACE (2080 MS)

Stewards refrained from pursuing action against driver Jodi Quinlan (Gipsy Princess) for leading through the first half of the last mile in 64.3 seconds. In not pursuing action Stewards took into account the quicker than average lead time and that Gipsy Princess raced clear in the lead through the applicable section.

Holzhauer pulled hard when positioned behind the leader during the middle stages.

Flo Jo Carvalho momentarily paced roughly passing the 400m and then gave ground over the concluding stages.

RACE 2 GIRLS NIGHT OUT - SATURDAY JULY 9 TROT (2080 MS)

Hallaboutme was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Fred Spiteri, driver of Hallaboutme was cautioned for crossing down from his barrier position before the start. In not taking further action Stewards took into account that Hallaboutme had not gained an advantage when settling at the rear of the field.

Dazy Sundaze galloped clear of interference near the 700m and again at the entrance to the home straight. Considering the time elapsed since the most recent indiscretion, Dazy Sundaze was placed on its last chance to race truly.

Mojito Madness hung out in the early part of the home straight.

In Stride tired to be beaten approximately 61m and has now been placed on its last chance to race competitively.

RACE 3 – LATHER UP STANDING @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (2080 MS)

Feel The Buzz shifted in slightly near the 900m and contacted marker pegs.

Jordan Chibnall, driver of Mach Charm was fined $100 under rule 156(3) for using her whip in an unapproved manner in that the whip was applied on more occasions than permitted inside the 200m.

RACE 4 – CRANBOURNE CLUB 21 - BRIAN TRESIZE PACE (1609 MS)

Good Feelings which has competed in more than 200 races was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race in accordance with HRV policy, which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Denstown NZ galloped during the early part of the score up and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Mister Nien began badly and will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

Classy Countess galloped clear of interference approaching the first turn resulting in Denstown NZ, Mister Nien and Deft Touch being inconvenienced with Mister Nien pacing roughly in consequence. Classy Countess trailed the field thereafter and was placed on its last chance to race truly.

Mister Nien paced roughly for a short distance passing the 400m.

Stewards refrained from pursuing action against driver Connor Crook (Good Feelings) for failing to adhere to the sectional time requirements when leading. In not pursuing action Stewards took into account the work endured during a quick first quarter and that Good Feelings raced clear in the lead during the 2nd quarter.                                                                        

RACE 5 - BLUE HILLS RISE PACE (1609 MS)

Our Cheeky Devil was out of position at the start despite the drivers’ efforts and the gelding was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 6 – MARK GURRY & ASSOCIATES PACE (2080 MS)

All Major began badly resulting in Chubby Checker NZ being inconvenienced after the start. All Major will be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.

All Major pulled hard during the early stages and then tired to be beaten approximately 119m. All Major was stood down from racing until having completed one satisfactory trial.

The Chancer and Chubby Checker NZ had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run inside the 50m.

Glenn Hunter, driver of Commander Buzz was fined $200 under rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip with more than a wrist only flicking action in the home straight.

RACE 7 – DECRON TROT (2080 MS)

The Sargent was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 9:31am.

Sovereign Tiger pulled hard whilst leading through the middle stages.

Bacardi Wood was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and in the early part of the home straight.

RACE 8 – CRANBOURNE FENCING PACE (2080 MS)

Tiwanaku was a late scratching with Stewards permission (personal reasons) at 10:11am.

The start was momentarily delayed owing to a sulky adjustment being required on Letherrocknroll NZ.

Romany Brown pulled hard during the middle stages and hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 900m.

Modern Bliss hung out slightly near the 700m.

Malibu Jack (4th place) was held up and unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight.

Super Seb was positioned outside of the leader for the greater majority prior to giving ground over the final stages to finish in 8th position beaten approximately 20m. Kate Gath, driver of Super Seb considered that the gelding was not entirely suited to being positioned without cover after being unsuccessful in obtaining the lead during the early stages.

RACE 9 – NUTRIEN EQUINE PACE (1609 MS)

Amy Crossland, trainer of Bundy Wrangler was cautioned for the late notification of herself as the driver of the gelding.

Rock Nien paced roughly in the early part of the score up and a warning was issued against the barrier manners of the gelding.

Bundy Wrangler paced roughly after the start and was placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Stewards refrained from pursuing action against driver Connor Clarke (Roylance) for failing to adhere to the sectional time requirements when leading. In not pursuing action Stewards took into account the work endured during a quick first quarter and that Roylance raced clear in the lead during the 2nd quarter.

Bundy Wrangler paced roughly approaching the first turn and then galloped clear of interference approaching the home straight on the final occasion. Bundy Wrangler was placed on its last chance to race truly.

Roll With Eunice NZ hung in and paced roughly approaching the 200m.

Roylance hung in during the early part of the home straight.

Ferocious Son was held up for a clear run in the early part of the home straight.
