STEWARDS REPORT FOR COBRAM

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 – COBRAM BAROOGA RSL PACE (2170 MS)

Country Major was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

James McPherson, driver of Warraderry was issued a caution for failing to have his runner adequately in position at the start. 

Rocks Can Roll pulled hard while outside the leader.

Reckon Im Smart NZ gave ground from the 600m to be beaten 42m.

Country Major hung out at various stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.

RACE 2 PETSTOCK COBRAM 2YO PACE (2170 MS)

Race start time amended to 1.17pm.

Ive An Idea utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 3 – CLIFF ROBINSON MEMORIAL TROT (2170 MS)

Willdomxav broke in the score up and was out of position at the start.  The gelding will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

Bad As Now pulled hard in the lead.

Bullapark Beno was slightly inconvenienced at the 1400m when Willdomxav commenced a shift away from the marker peg line into the running line.

Fugle was held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 4 –RATS OF TOBRUK PACE (1670 MS)

Alex Ashwood replaced Tayla French (dual engaged) as the driver of Joeys Hangover.

Nathan Jack replaced Jack Laugher (dual engaged) as the driver of Live For Peace.

Pre-race and post-race veterinarian examinations were conducted on Good Feelings under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions. Neither examination revealed no abnormalities.

Occiano broke during the score up and was out of position at the start.  The gelding then trailed the field and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

Playnice was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

Playnice broke gait when clear of interference at the 1400m.  The gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Live For Peace was held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.    

RACE 5 -REMEMBRANCE DAY TRIBUTE PACE FINAL (2170 MS)

Cody Crossland, driver of Mac Almighty NZ was issued a caution for failing to have his runner adequately in position at the start. 

RACE 6 – COBRAM LEGACY PACE (1670 MS)

Sinister pulled hard while outside the leader.

Patsy Valentine was held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 7 – NUI DAT REMEMBRANCE PACE FINAL (2170 MS)

Rodney Coelli replaced Bayley Duck as the driver of Heavens Hurricane.

Tino Tere Maori (Leigh Sutton) raced roughly when racing in restricted racing room on the first turn.

Goodlookin Rooster NZ pulled hard outside the leader and broke gait when clear of interference on the home turn checking Madam Auckland, Heavens Hurricane and Rockin In Memphis (broke) and inconveniencing Lagom and Dallas Nikolay.  Goodlookin Rooster NZ has been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

Olivia Weidenbach, driver of Goodlookin Rooster NZ was found guilty to a charge under rule 165(1)(b) for failing to provide the required clearance when shifting in during the early stages. The particulars of the charge being that approaching the first turn, Ms.Weidenbach permitted Goodlookin Rooster NZ to shift in when not the required clearance of Heavens Hurricane (Rodney Coelli) resulting in that gelding being checked and losing its rightful racing position.  In assessing penalty in accordance with the HRV Minimum Penalty Guidelines, Stewards took into account Ms.Weidenbach’s not guilty plea, applicable offence record, and the circumstances and consequential affects of the incident which was classified as a first turn offence. Ms.Weidenbach’s licence to drive in races was suspended for 2 weeks to commence midnight Wednesday 16 November 2022.

RACE 8– BAROOGA SPORTS CLUB 3YO PACE) (2170 MS)

Sonic Express utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

Very Tempting broke gait when clear of interference at the 400m and given the recent racing record of the gelding, has now been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

RACE 9– POW MEMORIAL PACE (1670 MS)

Coveffe Hustler hung in on the final turn inconveniencing Didshedoit NZ.

Havana utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

Cabo Cruz was held up for clear running on the final turn.  The gelding then contacted a marker peg when obtaining a narrow run while utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.
