GENERAL: Approximately 30 minutesprior to the commencement of Race 1, a track lighting tower collapsed in the vicinity of the course proper near the 400 metres. Upon inspection, it was clear that the condition of the lighting tower was unsatisfactory. With prevailing high winds, the structural integrity of the remaining towers was of significant concern. After consulting with HRNSW and Bankstown HRC administration, the decision was made to abandon today’s meeting on the basis of obvious safety concerns.
