Mr Pizzuto explained that when administering treatment the needle had missed the vein causing the surrounding area to become swollen. Mr Pizzuto added that the swelling at the present time was vastly reduced in comparison to the previous weeks. A pre-race veterinary examination was conducted and confirmed that the filly had minor swelling on its neck however there were no signs to indicate the filly had been treated recently. After consideration, stewards could not be satisfied that TIGERLICIOUS was treated within the prescribed time and permitted the filly to take its place in the event. Stewards adjourned an inquiry with trainer K Pizzuto with a time and date to be fixed, in regards to the accuracy of treatments recorded in his log book.
