EBONY ROCKS– It was reported the outside sulky wheel deflated without contact throughout the event.  Driver A Williams stated he lowered his right foot from the sulky rest to relieve the pressure off the flat tyre.  Stewards were of the opinion the right foot was not in the vicinity of the horse’s hind leg and was only slightly lowered from the foot rest, no further action was taken.

SMOOTH BON BON– Had a tendency to hang in under pressure between the 300 and 200 metres.

RACE 3 – BATHURST RSL CLUB PACE – 2260 metres

TAYLORS FOUR– Inconvenienced when trailing BETTYS LASS who was yielding ground until clearing that runner at the 300 metres.

MACH ASSASSIN– Post-race sample.

ALTA BILLY– Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 52 metres.  Driver J Reynolds stated the horse travelled comfortably throughout the event but when shifted to a three wide position at the 500 metres and placed under pressure failed to respond.  His comments were noted.

BETTYS LASS– Pre-race blood sample.  Caught racing three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1750 metres.  Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 55 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have some mucus in both nostrils and coughed on one occasion on  examination.  Driver C Hart was queried on the overall performance of the mare.  C Hart stated he was disappointed in the overall efforts but believing the mare to be first up for the stable would improve with the run.  Trainer J Grimson advised Stewards he would look to freshen the mare in the coming days and would change her work to some degree and would advise Stewards if any further health history with the mare arise in the coming days.

IM CAPTAIN MAX NZ– Caught racing three wide in the early stages until being restrained to the tail of the field at the 1800 metres.  Worked forward three wide from the 1500 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1250 metres.

When placed under pressure he failed to respond and was disappointing in the run to the finish.

HES CHIMING– Raced three wide from the 1300 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1000 metres.  Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.  Driver C Hart was queried on the overall performance of the gelding.  He stated when the tempo eased in the middle stages he elected to work three wide to obtain a more forward position where the gelding although hanging in felt comfortable throughout and when placed under pressure over the concluding stages was very disappointing in the run to the finish. Trainer J Grimson advised the gelding would be leaving his stable.

RACE 6 – DESIGNING WINDOWS 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN PACE – 1730 metres

LA MISTRESS– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Raced roughly shortly after the start.  A warning was issued.  Trainer/driver M Rue was queried on the overall performance of the filly.  He stated he could offer no reason for the performance as the filly had worked well leading into the event and was expecting a forward showing.  After racing roughly shortly after the start the filly failed to travel at any stage feeling uncomfortable in her gait throughout the event with this contributing to the performance.  He further stated if the filly was to continue its campaign in his stable he would look to make some gear changes to rectify the filly’s racing manners.

LIMBO LILLY– Post-race urine sample collected.

FRENWOOD MIRACLE– Driver C Hart was queried on the overall performance of the filly.  He stated FRENWOOD MIRACLE was reluctant to come up to the mobile barrier at the start and failed to travel at any stage throughout the event.  Trainer representative J Grimson advised Stewards the filly would be sent for a spell and as such was stood down for a period of 28 days.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

LIMOUSINE CHEEKY– Approaching the 300 metres was momentarily placed in restricted room when racing to the inside of LOGAN DREAM when that runner had shifted down the track slightly.

LUCKY ZARA– Had a tendency to hang out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.  A waring was issued.  Post-race sample collected.

JUST WON MORE– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Momentarily tightened at the 50 metres when LUCKY ZARA hung out under pressure.

FOREVER MORE– When unable to be restrained three wide in the early stages due to the mare over racing then continued to work forward from the 1250 metres in an attempt to obtain a position outside the leader. When unable to muster enough speed to obtain that position was then obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the event.  Driver N Donnelly was queried on the tactics adopted throughout the event.  He stated that when restraining the mare in the early stages was unable to find a position in the running line and was of the opinion the position outside the leader would be available and elected to work forward but once progressing to that position at the 1050 metres, ART THOU LEXY racing outside the leader increased the speed and FOREVER MORE was unable to muster the speed to cross that runner.  N Donnelly further stated that when leaving the 900 metres realised he was not going to obtain that position but thought it would be detrimental to restrain at that stage of the race and elected to allow his runner to race three wide. Considering the run afforded the mare finished the race well to be only beaten 2.5 metres..  N Donnelly was cautioned on his continuous whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

ART THOU LEXY– Slightly inconvenienced over the final 20 metres when racing to the outside of LUCKY ZARA who had hung out under pressure.

ELLEN SHANNON– Driver T Bullock was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the barrier prior to the start.

ROLL THE SEVEN– Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

Race 2 – BAKERS BUTCHERY PACE – 1730 METRES.

Inquiry was concluded into the tactics adopted by J Reynolds throughout the event. After taking evidence and reviewing the betting on the race, Stewards were of the opinion that driver J Reynolds had erred in not obtaining cover GEE EFF CEE(2.10 fav) at the 1100 metres but considering the distance challenged for that position and the overall performance of his horse do not believe the drive to be culpable enough to take any action against his licence other than reminding him of his obligation to drive in a manner that gives his horse it`s best possible chance to finish in the best position.

Race 6 – HARNESS TRADING RING PACE- 2260 METRES.

Follow up report for SLICK SALIOR.

Trainer Scott Hewitt reported the gelding to be flat following the run. A subsequent full vet examination which included a scope revealed the gelding to have  mucas on his lungs  and as such was treated. He further advised the gelding will be going for an immediate spell. Connections were advised the gelding would be stood down for 28 days.

Race 9- DOWN LOAD THE TAB APP TODAY 2YO MAIDEN PACE – 1730 METRES

Inquiry was opened into the reason trainer P Bullock presented the wrong horse to race at tonight’s meeting. After considering all the evidence trainer P Bullock  pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 45(5) in that he presented SONATA SHANNON for this event when he was required to present BESSIE BEE SHANNON. P Bullock was fined $500. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account P Bullock’s guilty plea, his record which showed this was his first offence, that his actions weren’t a deliberate act and previous penalties under this rule.
