RACE 1 – FOR A REASON @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 1730 metres
GENERAL:The start was delayed to avoid a clash with Race 9 from Maryborough. The automatic timing system for this race failed.
DILETTO–Nathan Turnbull, driver of DILETTO, was spoken to advisedly regarding him permitting his body to protrude outside the rear sulky confines inside the final 300m. Post-race swab sample taken.
CHELSEAS GIRL– Pre-race blood sample taken.
BLAZE EDITION– Over raced during the early and middle stages and was held up inside the final 200m. Inconvenienced passing the 200m when KARYINA MAX shifted out slightly.
RACE 2 – BLING IT ON @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 1730 metres
MAN MOUNTAIN– Over raced during the early and middle stages.
MIGHTY JOLT– Pre-race blood sample taken.
HURRIKANE DUDE – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
EURO BEAT NZ– Paced roughly momentarily passing the 300m. Post-race swab sample taken.
CHAP DADDY– Held up rounding the home turn and the early stage of the straight.
RACE 3 – CAPT MIDNIGHT @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 1730 metres
FAYS DELIGHT – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stage of the straight.
LILLY SHANNON– Kimberly Grant, driver of LILLY SHANNON,was questioned regarding the performance of the mare which finished in 8th placing beaten 68m. Ms Grant explained that connections were disappointed with the performance of the mare, in comparison to its most recent start at Bathurst on 9 November 2022 where the mare finished in 1st placing. Post-race veterinary examination of LILLY SHANNON failed to reveal any significant findings. In view of the performance a warning was issued.

LUCKY ZARA– Pre-race blood sample taken.
WEONA MISS FORTUNE– Mat Rue, trainer/driver of WEONA MISS FORTUNE ($5.50), was questioned regarding the performance of the filly which finished in 2nd last placing beaten 30m. Mr Rue explained that it was intention to drive the filly conservatively during the early stages, however when ELLEN SHANNON which was drawn to his outside was driven forward aggressively, this resulted in WEONA MISS FORTUNE commencing to race keenly. Mr Rue added that after being caught without cover rounding the first turn, WEONA MISS FORTUNE continued to race keenly and when the opportunity presented to secure the lead passing the 1200m he elected to do so as he felt WEONA MISS FORTUNE may settle better if able to lead. Mr Rue added that WEONA MISS FORTUNE continued to race keenly after securing the lead which ultimately proved to the filly’s detriment over the concluding stages. Mr Rue added that WEONA MISS FORTUNE had performed in a much more promising manner at its most recent start at Bathurst on 9 November 2022 as the filly did not over-race. Post-race veterinary examination of WEONA MISS FORTUNE failed to reveal any significant findings.
RACE 4 – HUNTSVILLE @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 1730 metres
JUNGLE BABY – Tightened and paced roughly passing the 1500m. Post-race swab sample taken.
BOSCH NZ– Contacted the sulky of TOM THE CURIOUS approaching the 400m when TOM THE CURIOUS shifted out simultaneous to BOSCH NZ commencing to improve.
A DUSTY DANCE– Held up inside the final 200m.
MACH DADDY– Pre-race blood sample taken. Mitch Turnbull, driver of MACH DADDY,was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that passing the 1500m permitted MACH DADDY to shift in momentarily tightening JUNGLE BABY which paced roughly as a consequence.
RACE 5 – JILLIBY KUNG FU @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 1730 metres
IM BRUCE ALMIGHTY– Pre-race blood sample taken.
BOYD WRITER– Held up inside the final 200m.
CAMANCHI WARRIOR– Nathan Turnbull, driver of CAMANCHI WARRIOR, pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that shortly after straightening when commencing to utilise the sprint lane he permitted CAMANCHI WARRIOR to contact the inside sulky wheel of ROCK FISHERMAN resulting in ROCK FISHERMAN carrying a flat tyre over the final stages. In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr Turnbull’s guilty plea, his good driving record and the low degree of carelessness involved. Stewards accordingly imposed a fine of $200. Post-race swab sample taken.
MYMATEPOG– Fractious as the score up initially commenced and refused to score up, requiring the assistance of the clerk of the course. MYMATEPOG will now be placed on its last chance in the draw.
ROCK FISHERMAN- Consideration was given to a protest lodged by Doug Hewitt, driver of 2nd placed ROCK FISHERMAN, alleging interference in that shortly after straightening CAMANCHI WARRIOR (1st placed), which was following, contacted the inside the sulky wheel of ROCK FISHERMAN resulting in ROCK FISHERMAN carrying a flat tyre over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from Mr Hewitt, Nathan Turnbull (CAMANCHI WARRIOR) and review of the available replays, it was established that as the sprint lane became available CAMANCHI WARRIOR contacted the inside sulky wheel of ROCK FISHERMAN which resulted in that ROCK FISHERMAN carrying a flat tyre over the final stages. As Stewards could not be satisfied to the required standard they were able to positively quantify any disadvantage suffered by ROCK FISHERMAN as a result of the incident the protest was dismissed and the all clear was given.
RACE 6 – KING OF SWING @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 1730 metres
TULHURST TERROR– Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in more than 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant findings. The start of the race was delayed when TULHURST TERROR required a gear adjustment.
YES YOU MAY- The all clear of the event was delayed at the request of Isobel Ross, driver of YES YOU MAY, to allow Ms Ross to review the available replays in relation to YES YOU MAY being disappointed for a run to the inside of TULHURST TERROR shortly after straightening. Upon review Ms Ross declined to lodge a protest and as Stewards were similarly satisfied there were not sufficient grounds for a protest, the all clear was given.

RACE 7 – MCWICKED @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 1730 metres
BORROWED TIME– Hung in passing the 200m.
LUCKY LEIGH– Broke during the score up and a warning was issued.
SWITCHEM ALL IN– Pre-race blood sample taken.
ROLL THE SEVEN– Post-race swab sample taken.
PREACHERS DAUGHTER– Over raced during the middle stages and was held up rounding the home turn and the early stage of the straight.
RACE 8 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1730 metres
BADBOYBEAU NZ – Post-race swab sample taken.
WELLSAIDMYLADY – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight. Re-included in the mobile barrier draw.
