RACE 1 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE – 2260 metres

WARIEDA BOY– Tired over the final 400 metres to be beaten 69 metres.  Driver M Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance of the gelding.  M Turnbull stated the gelding was up in grade in today’s event and the longer distance of 2260 metres was unsuitable for WARIEDA BOY.  He further stated that he recommended to connections keep the gelding racing over shorter distance and on the smaller tracks. 

PALE FACE JO– Surrendered the lead at the 1000 metres to KARLOO LOUIE.

BROOKLYN BANDIT– When the pace in the running line eased at the 1800 metres has improved onto the back of YAREADYFREDDY contacting that runners outside sulky wheel and being checked and broke.  Tired over the final 400 metres to be beaten a considerable distance.  The gelding will be given its last chance to race truly.  Trainer/driver J Davis was questioned on the overall performance. J Davis stated due to unsuitable programming for the gelding connections elected to start the gelding over the longer distance but as has been in the past it proved detrimental to the geldings overall performance. He further  stated when the gelding broke stride in the early stages the distance lost was also a contributing factor to he overall effort.

RAINBOW TITAN– Pre-race blood sample collected. 

MY SWEET SABRINA– Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start.  The filly will be continued outside the mobile draw in future starts.  Approaching the 1000 metres became unbalanced and broke stride.  A warning was issued.

KARLOO LOUIE– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Inconvenienced at the 1800 metres when the pace of the running line eased and shifted wider to avoid BROOKLYN BANDIT.  Worked forward three wide from the 1300 metres until obtaining the lead at the 1000 metres.  Post-race sample collected.

 

RACE 2 – CLUB MEMBERSHIPS ARE NOW DUE PACE – 1730 metres

LANCEWOOD LOUIE NZ– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Surrendered the lead to THERAINBOW BEACH at the 1400 metres.

STUDLEIGH SONNY– Slow to begin when the start was affected. 

OUR GEORGE BOSTON– Post-race sample collected.

HALL STITCHED UP– Despite the efforts of the driver was out of position at the start.  Considering the mare’s recent record HALL STITCHED UP will now be placed out of the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

THE RAINBOW BEACH– Raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead at the 1400 metres.  Unable to hold the lead when challenged for that position by IM CAPTAIN MAX NZ at the 1000 metres.  Worked forward to obtain the lead from IM CAPTAIN MAX NZ at the 800 metres.  Driver M Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance and the tactics adopted throughout the event. M Turnbull stated the gelding races best when driven aggressively in the early stages with a preference to lead if possible. After finding the lead in the early stages ,he was caught knapping when IM CAPTAIN MAX NZ  challenged for the lead at the 1000 metres. When that runner obtained the lead at the 1000 metres he eased up and he elected to challenge for the lead again, being able to obtain at the 800 metres. He further added when placed under pressure at the 500 metres the gelding finished the race off fairly yielding ground over the final 250 metres.

MIGHTY ATOM– Pre-race blood sample collected.  When racing in restricted racing room at the 250 metres contacted the inside sulky wheel of HURRIKANE DUDE and broke stride.  A warning was issued.

IM CAPTAIN MAX NZ– Worked forward three wide from the 1250 metres until obtaining the lead at the 1000 metres.  Surrendered the lead to THE RAINBOW BEACH at the 800 metres.

 

RACE 3 – BATHURST PANTHERS PACE – 1730 metres

MARMITTA– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

DELIGHTFUL ME– Worked forward to obtain the lead at the 1250 metres.  Post-race sample collected.

IM DESIRABLE– Driver M Turnbull was cautioned on his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

TURBO TOMMY– Pre-race blood sample collected.

LADY ANGELINA– Raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead at the 1400 metres.  Surrendered the lead to DELIGHTFUL ME at the 1250 metres.

BETA JEWEL– Raced three wide from the 1400 metres in an attempt to find a position closer to the lead .  When unable to find a position in the running  was obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the race.  Tired from the 400 metres to be beaten some distance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer/driver B Hewitt was questioned on the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the mare. B Hewitt stated with the moderate early tempo he elected to work forward from the 1400 metres as he was of the opinion LADY ANGELINA would look for cover when leading. Whilst working forward DELIGHTFUL ME  progressed forward to obtain the lead from LADY ANGELINA and when racing to the outside TURBO TOMMY that runner improved forward keeping him three wide until passing the 900 metres where he realised he couldn`t muster the pace to find a position in the running line elected to give the mare some respite although three wide. He further stated when placed under pressure from the 600 metres due to the hard run the mare failed to respond and tired to be beaten some distance, His comments were noted

 

RACE 4 – MOORHEAD CRANES PACE – 2260 metres

LOUIE THE PUNTER NZ– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Post-race sample collected.

TAMANISHA TERROR– Had a tendency to hang in slightly after the start. 

TERRYRAMA – Pre-race blood sample collected.  Raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1850 metres. 

 

RACE 5 – CENTRAL WEST PLUMBING & GASFITTING PACE – 1730 metes

MACH DADDY– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Held up for clear racing room over the final stages and was not fully tested. 

SAINT EMILION– Post-race sample collected.

UROC SKINNY JEANS– Raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1400 metres. 

CALA JANE– Pre-race blood sample collected. 

MYRA DAWN– Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 6 – BARKERS BUTCHERY PACE – 2260 metres

THE HANDSOME ONE– Post-race sample collected.

CE PE THREE– Raced three wide in the early stages until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1850 metres. 

CARBAGANOOSH– Raced four wide till the 1850 metres, then raced three wide until finding  the position outside the leader at the 1750 metres. 

IM MAJOR HARRY– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding had had over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Pre-race blood sample collected. 

HEADLINE HUNTER– Pre-race blood sample collected. 

 

RACE 7 – THE KNICKERBOCKER HOTEL PACE – 2260 metres

NELSON SHANNON– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Post-race sample collected.

SCARLET BLING– Pre-race blood sample collected. 

BARBARADAWNSHANNON– Broke stride shortly after the start was affected.  The mare will now be placed outside the mobile barrier drawn in future starts. 

 

RACE 8 – VALE GEOFFREY CONROY – 2260 metres

GENERAL– The all clear was delayed to ascertain the reasons LITTLE POPCORN broke stride over the concluding stages and to view if it had gained an advantage by crossing the line in the incorrect gait.  After viewing the available race day footage it was considered that LITTLEPOPCORN had shifted in under pressure over the final 80 metres and as a result has contacted the sulky wheel of  CAUGHT OUT at the 50 metres and broke stride.  Considering the close proximity to the finish line and the positioning of the other runners it was considered LITTLE POPCORN had not gained an advantage by crossing the finish line in the incorrect gait and as such declared all clear on the judge’s numbers of 2, 8, 3 and 4.

OURGIRLANNIE– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the mare had not started since 29 June 2021.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Pre-race blood sample collected.  Post-race sample collected.

LITTLE POPCORN– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Had a tendency to shift out shortly after the start was affected with DAVIDS HOPE being inconvenienced.  Shifted in under pressure over the final 50 metres as a result contacting the sulky of CAUGHT OUT and breaking stride.  Considering the gelding was only having its second race start it will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

DAVIDS HOPE– Slightly inconvenienced after the start when LITTLE POPCORN shifted out.

SAMYOURTHEMAN– Declared a late scratching at 9.15am on vets advice.

CAUGHT OUT– At the request of connections the mare will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.
