Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – ALABAR VICBRED PLATINUM MAIDEN PACE (1710 MS)
Miyagi Boy was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.
Fullofit was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stage of the straight.
Jason Lee, driver of Keayang Bieber, was questioned regarding the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the gelding. Mr Lee explained upon the speed commencing to ease during the early stages he permitted Keayang Bieber to improve forward. Mr Lee explained that he felt the performance of the gelding was somewhat disappointing over the concluding stages as the race was run in relatively moderate time however felt that Keayang Bieber may not have backed up from its race start at Ararat on 6 July 2022. Post-race veterinary examination of Keayang Bieber revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Keayang Bieber will now be stood down from racing until a veterinary clearance is tendered.
RACE 2 – BRANDT BALLARAT MAIDEN TROT (2200 MS)
El Resamo broke during the score up, was out of position at the start and will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.
Dandify, which was out of position at the start, broke shortly after the start was affected and will continue to be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.
Dandify broke clear of interference passing the 1900m. In view of its recent record a warning was issued.
Onestep Ahead broke clear of interference passing the 300m and In view of its recent record a warning was issued.
Bundalong Bruiser, which trotted roughly at various stages, trotted roughly under pressure inside the final 150m. A warning was placed on the gelding’s record. In not taking more severe action Stewards were mindful Bundalong Bruiser was having its first race start.
RACE 3 – HYDRAUTECH BALLARAT PACE (2ND HEAT) (1710 MS)
The start of this event was delayed slightly when Robert Walters, driver of Coveffe Hustler, dropped his whip prior to the score up commencing.
Rory Coverdale, driver of Regal Reggae, was cautioned for initially permitting the mare to score up in the incorrect position.
Ash Park was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stage of the straight.
Approaching the 100m Ash Park hung out and locked wheels with Snazola which was inconvenienced as a consequence. A warning was placed on the record of Ash Park.
Tipofthetongue tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 50m for which a warning was issued.
Jayden Barker, driver of Priddy Sublime, explained the mare paced roughly passing the 500m and proved very disappointing thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination of Priddy Sublime failed to reveal any significant findings. Given the beaten margin (84m) Priddy Sublime was placed on its last chance to race competitively.
Rory Coverdale, driver of Regal Reggae, explained due to runners to her inside beginning well Regal Reggae was caught three wide during the early stages. Ms Coverdale added it was apparent approaching the 1000m that Regal Reggae would be caught three wide and she felt given the short distance left to travel the mare would be better suited remaining in this position as opposed to restraining to the rear of the field.
RACE 4 – DELRE NATIONAL FOODS TROT (2200 MS)
The all clear of this event was delayed affording Stewards the opportunity to review the available replays in relation to 4th placed Constantinople pacing over the concluding stages. Upon review Stewards were satisfied that Constantinople, whilst in the incorrect gait, had lost ground and obtained no advantage to the detriment of any other runner and all clear was given on the judge’s placings. Given the record poor record of Constantinople the gelding will now be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and until trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards on two consecutive occasions.
Namoscar began badly and will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile start events.
Saint Calder broke under pressure approaching the 150m.
RACE 5 - LATHER UP @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (2200 MS)
Romany Brown failed to participate in the pre-race circle and a warning was issued.
Speed Dating tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 61m for which a warning was issued.
Morvah was inconvenienced passing the 500m when held up behind Speed Dating which commenced to tire.
Kate Gath, driver of Duffy Hollow NZ, explained the gelding hung out at various stages and proved difficult to drive whilst over-racing during the early and middle stages. Post-race veterinary examination of Duffy Hollow NZ failed to reveal any significant findings. A warning was placed on the record of Duffy Hollow NZ.
RACE 6 – FERNDALE CONFECTIONARY PACE (2200 MS)
Onwatch underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV policy, neither examination revealed any significant findings.
The start of this event was delayed due to the headcheck of Machstique requiring to be readjusted.
Machstique was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stage of the straight.
Cody Rauchenberger, driver of City Siren, was cautioned for permitting the mare to shift in approaching the 1900m momentarily tightening Machstique.
RACE 7 – EASY WASTE 3YO PACE (2200 MS)
Double The Hunter tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 52m for which a warning was issued.
RACE 8 – INTER PATH 4CYTE PACE (2200 MS)
Foolish Pleasure was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stage of the straight.
Our Uncle Jim pulled hard during the middle stages.
Ruby Wingate pulled hard during the middle stages.
