Stewards noted the intended tactics from trainers with multiple runners in the one race.

Albion Park – R4 – Friday, 28 October 2022:

Stewards tonight questioned Shane Graham regarding the performance of Our Aunty Ash from Race 4 at Albion Park last night, October 28.

The filly was late leaving the pre-race circle which resulted in her being out of position at the candy pole. Our Aunty Ash settled at the rear of the field on the marker posts but failed to run on over the final 400 m.

Mr Graham advised that whilst the other second row runner, Studleigh Sonny was fractious leaving the pre-race circle his filly failed to muster pace. He did advise that the filly was hitting its knee. He further advised that as a consequence he settled further back in running than anticipated.

Mr Graham was disappointed with the filly’s effort over the final 400 m. and its overall performance as despite its urgings it failed to run on. Stewards noted the comments.

Race 1 - BONUS BONANZA SATURDAY BAND 4 - BAND 2 PACE  1660M

Obi One NZ (Chloe Butler) – Chloe Butler was questioned regarding the gelding’s performance which after racing in the lead for the majority of the event yielded ground over the final 200 m to finish at the rear of the field. Ms Butler advise it was the intention to take a suit on a suitable horse and was content to a trail on Tiz A Sizzler but due to that gelding being retired at the 800m she was then obliged to hold the lead position which was determination to the gelding’s performance. Ms Butler further confirmed it would be the intention to drive Obi One NZ with a sit in future races. Stewards noted the comments.

Commodore Jujon (Mathew Neilson) – Shifted in and contacted a marker post near the 100 m.

Tiz A Sizzler NZ (Darrel Graham) – Left a one-wide trailing position at the 1300 m and worked forward to the position in the lead near 1000 m. before the near side hopple connecting strap broke which resulted in the gelding behind retired from the event at the 800 m. The gear was inspected and found to be in a satisfactory condition.

Race 2 - AQWA CONSTRUCTIONS UP TO NR70 FINAL  1660M

Surf Ace (Adam Richardson)– Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward initially to the position outside of the leader.

Its Back Page News NZ (Shane Graham) - Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 100 m.

Golden Sand (Jonah Hutchinson)– Raced wide in the early stages before working forward to the position in the lead near the 800 m.

Race 3 - THE CREEK MEMBERS BONUS BAND 5 PACE   2138M

Saginaw NZ (Adam Richardson)– Hung in and raced ungenerously before giving ground over the final 400 m. When questioned driver Adam Sanderson advised that the lugging pole became snag on the extension bit which affected the control he was able to exhibit on the gelding. The trainer was advised to make the necessary gear adjustments to ensure a repetition does not occur. An examination by the veterinarian subsequent to the race found the gelding to be suffering from a poor post-race recovery. Acting on the recommendation of the Veterinarian Saginaw NZ was stood down for 7 days.

Bombadier Jujon (Trista Dixon)- Trainers representative Trista Dixon was questioned regarding the tactic to lead and improved performance of the gelding. Ms Dixon advised that it was the intention to take advantage of barrier two and hold the lead unless seriously challenged. In regard to its performance Ms Dixon stated that the stable has been satisfied with its recent performances were confident of a forward showing. Stewards noted the comments.

Hittheroadjack NZ (Luke Whittaker)– Tightened for room leaving the 1900 m when Rock Bottom NZ hung in.

Rock Bottom NZ (Taleah McMullen)– Hung in when racing wide in the early stages. Failed to settle and overraced when racing outside of the leader after being urged forward from the start.

Glenledi Boy NZ (Lachie Manzelmann)- Raced wide without cover over the final 1000 m.

Courageous Saint (Adam Sanderson) – Withdrawn by the Veterinarian after sustaining injury en route to the track. Acting on the advice of the Veterinarian Courageous Saint will require a veterinary clearance before again racing.

Race 4 - GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND OPEN PACE  1660M

Turn It Up (Shane Graham)– Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.

Will The Wizard (Hayden Barnes) – Raced roughly for a short distance during the middle stage of the score up.

Race 5 - A ROCKNROLL DANCE AT STUD UP TO NR70 CONSOLATION  1660M

Square Dealer NZ (Taleah McMullen)– Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. The gelding will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.

Brian Christopher NZ (Hayden Barnes)– Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.

Race 6 - PELICAN WATERS RESORT QUALIFYING PACE  1660M

Cant Bluff You (Kelli Dawson)– Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. The gelding will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.

Chal Be NZ (Trista Dixon)– Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.

Race 7 - SUNSHINE STARS QUALIFYING B PACE  1660M

The Hummer (Mathew Neilson)– Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.

Race 8 - CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES QUALIFYING PACE  1660M

Scene Of Terror (Dean Belford)– Broke gait during the score up. The mare will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.

Race 9 - CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES BAND 5 PACE  1660M
