Stewards noted the intended tactics from trainers with multiple runners in the one race.

Redcliffe – Race 1 – 26 October 2022

Stewards tonight conducted an inquiry into the manner in which Luke Whittaker applied the whip on Stompem NZ in the early stages of the straight in Race 1 at Redcliffe on October 26. Stewards were unable to conduct the inquiry on the night due to Luke Whittaker leaving the course prior to the 30 minute departure deadline.

After considering the matter Stewards fined Luke Whittaker the sum of $200 for using the whip in an unapproved manner over the final 200 m of the event. (R.156(2). Further after considering the circumstances regarding his early departure Luke Whittaker was reprimanded under the provisions of AHR. 43A(1).

Race 1 - AQWA CONSTRUCTIONS PACE  2138M

Bettor Jiggle (Chloe Butler) – Broke gait in the early stages of the score up.

Captain Nemo Nz (Luke Whittaker) – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.

B Mac C Nz (Taleah McMullen) – Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.

Race 2 - PRYDE'S EASIFEED BIOMARE PACE  1660M

Chainlinc (Lachie Manzelmann)- Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages. Held up for a clear run to the finish.

Just Dessy (Zac Chappenden) - Held up for a clear run to the finish.

Race 3 - SUNSHINE STARS PACE  1660M

Aye Aye Captain (Shane Graham)– Hung out rounding the home turn near the 200 m

Some Girls Dont Nz (Ricky Thurlow) – Stewards queried tactics and overall performances. Explanation noted.

Melton Insulted (Taleah McMullen)– Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.

Make Mine Joe (Clint Petroff)- Driver fined unapproved whip use.

General:  Clint Petroff (Make Mine Joe) was fined $200 for using the whip in an unapproved manner over the final 200 m of the event. (R.156(2).

Driver Ricky Thurlow was questioned regarding the performance of Some Girls Don’t NZ ($2.10 fav) which was eased from barrier 4 to a trailing position towards the rear of the field. The filly was moved to a three-wide position trailing Chump Chop from the 800 m and then moved four-wide rounding the home turn before finishing on well in 5th position. Mr Thurlow advised that he was of the view the filly would be unable to cross Aye Aye Captain at the start and as such elected to ease the filly at the start. He further advised that Chump Chop failed to take Some Girls Don’t NZ into the race in the back straight and as such was then obliged to race wide rounding the home turn. He further advised that the filly tended to hang during the event which hindered its performance. Stewards noted the comments.

Race 4 - GARRARD'S HORSE & HOUND PACE  2138M

Royal Princess (Pete McMullen)– When yielding ground locked wheels with Sharp Shooter near the 200 m.

Sharp Shooter (Matt Elkins)– Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced when caught behind the tiring Royal Princess and when endeavouring to obtain a run to the inside at the 200m locked wheels.

Our Aunty Ash (Shane Graham)– Fractious leaving the prerace circle resulting in the filly being out of position at the candy pole.

Studleigh Sonny (Taleah McMullen) – Fractious leaving the prerace circle resulting in the gelding being out of position at the candy pole.

Race 5 - COBBITTY EQUINE FARM PACE  1660M

Whateley (Trent Moffat)– Hung out during the score up.

Captain Braveheart (Narissa McMullen)– Hung in during the early stages when challenging for a forward position. Back In the draw in mobile events.

Whata Terror (Leonard Cain)– Raced wide from the 1100m and worked forward to the position outside of the leader near the 900 m.

Race 6 - A ROCKNROLL DANCE AT SOMERSET FARMS PACE  1660M

Diego Delgado (Phil Chappenden)– Overraced and pulled hard during the event.

Im Loki (Shane Graham)– Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.

Race 7 - BURWOOD STUD 2YO PACE   1660M

Burton (Darrel Graham) – Checked and broke at the 400 m when Wisper A secret shifted out.

Potter (Bryse McElhinney) – Inconvenienced near the 400 m.

Queenslander (Adam Sanderson) - Shifted in and contacted marker posts leaving the 300 m.

Wisper A Secret (Pete McMullen)– Driver suspended causing interference at the 400 m.

Short Leg Sue (Trent Moffat)– Inconvenienced near the 400 m.

Dont Fear For Me (Dale Larpent)– Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.

General: The drivers licence of Pete McMullen was suspended for 9 days for the contravention of AHR. 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference to Burton (Darrel Graham) when shifting out at the 400 m. In determining penalty Stewards noted Mr McMullen’s guilty plea and his previously good record relating to this rule with a significant number of drives over an extended period. At the request of Pete McMullen stewards stayed the imposition of the penalty until midnight on Saturday, October 29.

Race 8 - LIAM HALL HAPPY 21ST PACE  1660M

Wild About Town (Phil Chappenden)- Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages. Gave ground over final 700m to be beaten 75.6 metres. An examination by the veterinarian subsequent to the race found no abnormalities at time of examination. The gelding will be placed on its last chance to race competitively.

Race 9 - RADIOTAB TROTTERS MOBILE  2138M

My Rumour Has It Nz (Pete McMullen) – Broke gait at the start. The mare will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.

Hello Jolene Jolene Nz (Trent Moffat) – Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. The mare will be drawn on the extreme outside in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.

Race 10 - SELECTIVE MOTORS ALBION TROTTERS MOBILE  2138M

Sugarinspice Nz (Pete McMullen)– Shifted in and contacted marker posts near the 1800m. Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.
