Supplementary Report:

Following review of race six from Albion Park on Saturday 21 May, Stewards questioned driver Ricky Thurlow (Falcons) regarding his left foot being displaced from the sulky foot rest approaching the 200 metres. Mr Thurlow advised Stewards that he was activating deafeners at this point of the race and had some difficulty with the addition of splash sheets affixed to the sulky in the wet conditions. After viewing the incident on the official patrol film, Stewards were satisfied Mr Thurlow was activating gear at this point however he was cautioned under the provisions of AHR rule 170 (1) and advised any activation with the feet must not result in the foot dropping downwards from the sulky rest.

Race 1 - AQWA CONSTRUCTIONS BAND 5 PACE       2138M

King Triton (Narissa McMullen) at the request of the trainer Stephen Cini, King Triton underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection which revealed some soreness in the off foreleg. Acting on the veterinary surgeon’s recommendation, King Triton will be ineligible to race until a veterinary clearance is provided by connections.

Despondent (Angus Garrard) held up for clear running in the concluding stages.

Saving Major Percy (Nathan Dawson) hung in at the 900 metres and contacted a marker peg.

Courageous Saint (Darrel Graham) held up for clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

Race 2 – BRITT BECOMES A HANDLEY QUALIFYING PACE  1660M

Asterism (Dean Chapple) deafeners released prematurely in the score up. Hung in badly during the score up and a warning was issued.

Race 3 - MADCORE UP TO NR90 FINAL          1660M

Bombadier Jujon (Trista Dixon) inclined to race roughly approaching the first turn after the start.

General

Stewards approved a late driving change on Bohannan NZ from Taleah McMullen to Chloe Butler.

Ryan Veivers, the trainer of Bohannan NZ was fined $100 under AHR rule 210 for failing to notify Chloe Butler as the driver of this horse by the prescribed time.

Race 4 - GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND OPEN DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP       2647M

Gottashopearly(Richard Williams) slowly out and then broke after the start. A warning was issued. Contacted the off side sulky wheel of Lets Katchmeifucan NZ approaching the 200 metres when shifting away from the marker pegs and galloped as a result failing to settle back into a pace in the run to the finish.

Mach Shard NZ (Luke McCarthy) jumped sideways at the start and was slow to muster speed.

General

Richard Williams pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR rule 168 (1) (a) for driving in the careless manner at the 200 metres when shifting wider on the track which caused his horse Gottashopearly to make contact with the off side sulky wheel of Lets Katchmeifyoucan NZ resulting in Gottashopearly galloping for the entire home straight. A fine of $200 was imposed and in assessing the matter of penalty Stewards took into account some mitigating circumstances.

Race 5 – THE CREEK MEMBERS BONUS VETERANS PACE   1660M

No racing incidents.

Race 6 - PRYDE'S EASIFEED UP TO NR90 CONSOLATION    1660M

Jumping Jack Jimmy (Luke Whittaker) inclined to hang in at the 400 metres despite the efforts of its driver and a warning was issued.

Race 7 – ULTIMATE TOOLS 3YO PACE           1660M

WE ALWAYS HAVE FAITH NZ (Trista Dixon) raced in restricted room at the 1300 metres between Speak The Truth and Teddy Disco, which was racing to the inside and was inclined to hang out.

TEDDY DISCO (Nathan Dawson) had a tendency to hang out when racing in a position three back on the marker pegs, particularly at the 1300 metres.

Race 8 - CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES BAND 5 PACE            1660M

Delightful Reason (Narissa McMullen) broke in the score up and was out of position when the start was affected. Connections were advised that delightful reason will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts.

Race 9 - PSP BONUS TROTTERS MOBILE      1660M

Justabitnoisy (Leonard Cain) inconvenienced in the run to the finish when Van Sank galloped.

Watts Up Majestic (Rickie Alchin) moved out three wide at the 1100 metres but commenced to trot roughly and was restrained by its driver back into the one wide line. When questioned by stewards trainer driver Ricky Alchin advised Watts Up Majestic was not comfortable in its gait at any stage and when he endeavoured to move wider on the track at the 1100 to improve position, the gelding commenced to trot roughly. He said considering Watts Up Majestics current record in this regard, he elected to restrain and raced with cover. Mr Alchin undertook to trial the gelding before nominating to race again.

Van Sank (Adam Sanderson) galloped under pressure in the run to the finish and lost considerable ground. After considering a good record in this regard a warning only was issued.

More Shades Of Gold NZ (Grant Dixon) broke after the start was affected and will be excluded from the draw in future mobile starts.

General

The all clear on this race was delayed to allow Stewards to view the video footage of the concluding stages in which Van Sank galloped over the finish line. After perusal of the video footage, it was established that Van Sank did not maintain its position or gain ground when galloping and the all clear was given on the judges numbers.

Luke Whittaker (Wee Man Trouble NZ) was fined $200 under AHR rule 156 (2)(a) for applying the whip in the home straight in other than a flicking action.

Race 10 –CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES QUALIFYING PACE   1660M

Jenden Strike (Phoebe Betts) raced without cover and failed to run on in the concluding stages to finish in sixth position beaten 14 metres. Connections advised the mare had trialled well and had been working well in its trackwork leading into this race but were slightly disappointed after racing without cover in quickly run sectionals.

Bejiggity (Mathew Neilson) inconvenienced at the 1200 metres when Bettor Romance which was racing to the inside shifted out and locked wheels momentarily.

Bettor Romance (Chloe Butler) locked wheels momentarily with Bejiggity at the 1200 metres when the mare shifted out momentarily

Race 11 -ULTIMATE TOOLS 2YO PACE          1660M

General

Angus Garrard (Regazzo Di Tilly) was fined $100 under AHR rule 162 (1)(y) for failing to adhere to minimum time standards in that he set a pace of 64.5 seconds for the middle half of the final mile.
