Stewards noted the intended tactics from trainers with multiple runners in the one race
Stewards approved the following late driving changes due to Brittany Graham being unavailable because of illness. Ms Graham will require a medical clearance before again driving.
- Race 2 – Dead Set Muscle - Angus Garrard
- Race 6 – Mafuta Vautin - Adam Sanderson
Trial 2
Lil Miss Breezy was found to suffering atrial fibrillation following the event. The filly was stood down from exercise for a period of 14 days and must produce and ECG and veterinary report plus satisfactory trial before again racing.
Race 1 - BURWOOD STUD 2YO TROTTERS HANDICAP 1628M
Hold My Hat Doug (Pete McMullen) - Ducked in and broke gait near the 700 m. A warning was issued.
Razzleme Dazzleme (Chantal Turpin) – Slow to begin. Broke gait at the 1100 m and again at the 100 m. A warning was issued.
Race 2 - SKY RACING TROTTERS RATING HANDICAP 2138M
Hattie (John Cremin) – Galloped at the start. The mare will be excluded from the draw in future standing start events.
Dead Set Muscle (Angus Garrard)– Galloped at the 1600 m. A warning was issued. Shifted in and contacted a marker post near the 700 m.
Shegotsass (Tim Gillespie)– The 30 metre barrier strand became entangled with the sulky at start. Raced wide in the middle stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.
Majestic Speed (Shane Graham)– Galloped at the start. The mare will be placed on its last chance in the draw.
Carnera (Grant Dixon)– Broke gait under pressure approaching the finish. A warning was issued.
Down Under Rors (Alan Donohoe)– Shifted in and contacted a marker post near the 1800 m.
General: Prior to the all-clear Stewards consulted with Tim Gillespie (Shegotsass, placed 5th) regarding the incident at the start. Mr Gillespie advised that the incident had no material affect on its performance and did not want to proceed any further with the matter.
Race 3 - PSP TROTTERS RATING HANDICAP 2138M
Kar Manor NZ (Riley Butt)– Galloped at the start. In view of the gelding’s previous record Kar Manor NZ will be drawn on the extreme outside in future standing start events. Held up for a clear run to the finish.
Hello Jolene Jolene NZ (Grant Dixon)– Broke gait shortly after the start. The mare will continue to be drawn wide in standing start events.
Minnie Bow Tique NZ (Angus Garrard) – Broke gait shortly after the start. The mare will continue to be drawn wide in standing start events.
Father Christmas NZ (Hayden Barnes)– Inconvenienced near the 400 m.
Melpark Magic (Alan Donohoe)– Held up for a clear run to the finish.
Matatoki NZ (Mark Dux)– Driver reprimanded for manner in which he shifted ground near the 400 m resulting in Father Christmas NZ having to be steadied. (R.168(1)(a)).
Race 4 - CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD 2YO MAIDEN PACE 1660M
My Girl Mandy (Narissa McMullen)– Contacted own sulky with hind legs causing horse to become unbalanced and break gait near the 1400 m. The filly will be placed on its last chance to race truly.
Bronski Delight (Shane Graham)– Became unbalanced and broke gait during the early stages of the score up after contacting the barrier arm.
Miki Magic (Pete McMullen)– Back in the draw in mobile events.
Race 5 - PCFA CRITICAL CATCH 3YO & 4YO UP TO NR50 PACE 1660M
All Before Him (Nikki Chalk)– Hung out after the start. A warning was issued.
A Rainbow Dancer (Pete McMullen)– Hung out during the event.
Race 6 - GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND VETERANS PACE 1660M
Cant Refuse NZ (Leonard Cain)– Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.
Race 7 - PCFA CRITICAL CATCH PACE 2138M
Hez On The Buzzer NZ (Nathan Dawson)– Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages.
Our Aunty Ash (Shane Graham)– Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position in the lead.
Chal Be NZ (Grant Dixon)– Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.
Bonza Guy (Phil Chappenden) – Query driving tactics and performance. Explanation noted.
General: Phil Chappenden (Bonza Guy) was questioned regarding the tactic to leave a one-wide trailing position at the 1500 m and work forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1300 m. It was noted that this middle section was run in 58.5 seconds. Bonza Guy was under pressure from the 600m yielding ground finish in last position beaten 37.2 metres. Mr Chappenden advised that the gelding which was having it first start for the stable was overracing in the early stages and was of the view that it may settle if allowed to run along. Stewards after consideration of the matter noted the explanation.
Race 8 - WOLF SIGNS NO BAND CONDITIONED PACE 2138M
General: A false start was declared in the first occasion after Perfect Cut NZ was checked in the score up when The Grogfather broke gait.
Bomb Suit NZ (Leonard Cain)– Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.
The Grogfather (Shane Graham)– Broke in the score up causing a false start. The gelding will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner. In an endeavour to rectify an issue with a hopple shortener that had released prematurely Shane Graham dropped his right foot from the sulky rest at the start.
Race 9 - PCFA CRITICAL CATCH UP TO NR70 PACE 2138M
Mistery Road (Luke McCarthy) – Raced wide over the final 1000 m.
Teddy Feels Good (Shane Graham) – Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.
Race 10 - PELICAN WATERS RESORT PACE 1660M
Mr Ibiza NZ (Luke McCarthy)– Raced roughly for a short distance near the 1400 m.
Dancintothebeat (Adam Sanderson)– Shifted in and contacted a marker post near the 1300 m. Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.
Im The Bounty Hunter NZ (Riley Butt)– Hung in when racing wide leaving the 400 m.
Whata Roller (Taleah McMullen) – Hung in when racing wide leaving the 400 m.
Always Thunder (Bernie Hewitt)– Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.
