Supplementary Report:

Trainer Anna Woodmansey reported Pelosi had blood samples taken during the week which revealed no abnormalities. She said the mare had shown some signs of tying up subsequent to its race at Albion Park on 9 July and this may have had a bearing on the somewhat disappointing performance.

Race 1 - SUNSHINE STARS YEARLING SALE BAND 5 PACE  1660M

Rockin With Elvis (Shane Graham) contacted a marker peg at the 300 metres when racing tight to the inside of Ballerini.

Ronaldo NZ (Brad Hewitt) inclined to race roughly at the 600 metres when leading.

Courageous Saint (Adam Sanderson) held up for clear running on entrance to the home straight. Completed the event with blood evident from the off side nostril. The Stewards directed a veterinary examination be carried out on the gelding which confirmed the presence of blood in the off side nostril only. Courageous Saint will be stood down from racing until a satisfactory trial is performed.

Race 2 – 2022 BURWOOD STUD SOUTH EAST OAKS (G3)     2138M

Uptown Beachgirl (Nathan Dawson) galloped after the start was affected and within the first hundred metres of the start. Uptown Beachgirl will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts.

Alwaysbme (Mathew Neilson) gait free of interference at the 300 metres and lost considerable ground. After considering a good record in this regard connections were advised Alwaysbme will be placed on its last chance to race truly. Back in the mobile draw after two successful consecutive starts.

General

Mark Hewitt (Not To Be Denied) was fined $300 under AHR rule 156(3) for applying the whip in a continuous manner in the run to the finish without allowing the horse time to respond.

Race 3 - 2022 BURWOOD STUD SOUTH EAST DERBY (G3)   2138M

Tims A Trooper (Trista Dixon) checked on the final turn when held up behind Bangkok Deejay which was losing ground.

Bangkok Deejay (Angus Garrard) raced roughly at various stages of the race and hung in contacting several marker pegs. Loss ground quickly on the final turn and finished in 11th position beaten 35.4 metres. Stewards directed a veterinary examination be carried out on the gelding which revealed a laceration to the near fore Coronet band. The gelding required veterinary treatment and the Stewards adopted his recommendation that Bangkok Deejay not be permitted to race for seven days. It was noted the gelding lost a near fore shoe during the race.

General

Jarrod Alchin, trainer of My Ultimate Ronnie and My Ultimate Chevron was fined $100 on two separate charges under AHR rule 238 for presenting both runners in incorrect race colours.

Race 4 - 2022 MAER GROUP TROTTERS SPRINT (G2)           1660M

Riley Moment NZ (Pete McMullen) broke after the start was affected and will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts.

Lotamuscle NZ (Greg Sugars) broke at the start and will be excluded from the draw in future mobile starts. Broke gait free of interference approaching the 200 metres and lost further ground. After considering a recent good record, stewards advised connections Lotamuscle NZ will have a warning only placed on its racing behaviour.

Global Flight NZ (Narissa McMullen) checked at the start when Riley Moment NZ galloped.

Kar Manor NZ (Riley Butt) broke gait free of interference approaching the 200 metres and lost ground. After considering a good record in this regard a warning only was issued. Back in the mobile draw after two successful consecutive starts.

Race 5 – 2022 1EQUINE 4YO CHAMPIONSHIP (G3)    2138M

Beyond Delight (Mark Pitt) raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader. Challenged for the lead unsuccessfully in the back straight on the first occasion and was obliged to race without cover for the remainder of the event before commencing to tire from the 300 metres and finished in last position beaten 19 metres. Stewards directed that a veterinary examination be carried out on the horse which revealed an elevated heart rate. Stewards barred Beyond Delight from racing until a ECG clearance is provided by connections.

Triple Four NZ (Brad Hewitt) hung in leaving the 300 metres and contacted the near side sulky wheel of all Captain Crusader resulting in Triple Four NZ racing roughly momentarily.

Race 6 - 2022 GARRARDS THE GOLDEN GIRL (G1)   1660M

Maajida (Mark Pitt) beaten for speed at the start by Rubies For Tash and settled in a position behind that mare before ultimately being positioned three back on the marker pegs when Rubies For Tash was crossed for the lead by Momentslikethese at the 1300 metres. Held up for clear running approaching the final turn and sustained an offside flat tyre when attempting to shift wider on the track in advance of Yarraman Bella.

General

Jack Trainor (Town Echo NZ) was fined $400 under AHR rule 156(2) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip in the concluding stages.

Race 7 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND BAND 4 / BAND 2 PACE            1660M

Deus Ex NZ (Brendan Barnes) galloped at the winning post with one lap remaining when the short depends became entangled in the near side hind hopple loop. This was verified by the Stewards after the gelding was retired from the race. No action was taken.

General

Chris Geary (A Gs White Socks NZ) was fined $100 under AHR rule 238 for failing to wear the correct race colours for this horse.

Race 8 - 2022 GARRARDS SUNSHINE SPRINT (G1)    1660M

I Cast No Shadow NZ (Jack Trainor) failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages of the race.

Better Eclipse (Greg Sugars) inconvenienced at the 1200 metres when Spirit Of St Louis NZ momentarily shifted away from the marker pegs before being returned to its inside position behind the leader.

Blacksadance (Pete McMullen) held up for clear running on the final turn and approaching the early stages of the home straight.

Alta Orlando NZ (Ricky Thurlow) held up for clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

General

Jack Callaghan (Spirit Of St Louis NZ) reprimanded under AHR rule 162 (1) (www) (b) for hindering the forward progression of Better Eclipse at the 1200 metres by failing to maintain a true trailing position.

Jack Callaghan was fined $400 under AHR rule 156 (2 for engaging the elbow when applying the whip in the concluding stages of the race.

Race 9 - 2022 ALBION PARK GOLD - BRISBANE APG SALES GRADUATES 2YO FINAL (G1) 1660M

Mister Delwin (Pete McMullen) having its first race start was inclined to raced greenly by racing wide and not responding to the near side rein.

Race 10 -1EQUINE QUALIFYING PACE          2138M

Lady Avana NZ (Trista Dixon) failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

General

Shane Graham (Jenden Strike) was suspended for 14 days under AHR rule 156 (2) for engaging the elbow when applying the whip in the concluding stages of the race. In assessing the matter of penalty, Stewards took into account this was Shane Grahams sixth breach of the whip rule within a 12 month period. This term of suspension will commence midnight 25 July 2022.
