Race 1 - WOLF SIGNS TROTTERS RATING HANDICAP 2138M SS
Oonskade (Trent Dawson) stepped and led then surrendered the lead near the 1750 metres. Broke free of interference near the 1650 metres. Having considered the filly’s recent race record Stewards ordered OONSKADE stood down from racing for 14 days and until the completion of two consecutive satisfactory requalifying trials.
Hotel Kyvalley (Dan Russell) severely checked by a galloping runner and broke near the 1650 metres.
Allanon (Leonard Cain) galloped out – a warning was issued. Checked by a galloping runner near the 1650 metres.
Just Call Me Molly NZ (Mathew Neilson) worked forward to the lead near the 1750 metres.
Sonetto (Matt Crone) galloped out - continue out of the draw in standing start races. Completed the race with a flat right side tyre.
Rocket Nova NZ (Matt Elkins) broke after the start - continue right out of the draw in standing start races. Completed the race with a flat right side tyre.
Set Me Free NZ (Angus Garrard) broke after the start was effected - continue out of the draw in standing start races. Severely checked by a galloping runner and broke stride near the 1650 metres.
Jaccka Watch NZ (Shane Graham) stood flat footed at the start – a warning was issued.
Race 2 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE 1660M MS
Mister Hart (Phil Chappenden) withstood an early challenge for the lead. Commenced to give ground from the 400 metres. Near side sulky wheel contacted by the trailing runner flattening the tyre entering the home straight on the final occasion.
Betterthanarocket NZ (Pete McMullen) held up and checked behind a tiring runner on the final turn and shifted in with its inside sulky wheel racing inside the marker pegs as a result. Contacted the inside sulky wheel of the preceding runner entering the home straight on the final occasion flattening the tyre. When questioned, driver P McMullen explained to the Stewards that leaving the final turn Betterthanarocket NZ was rank when held up behind the tiring Mister Hart and as a result shifted in with the inside sulky wheel inside the final two marker pegs. Stewards confirmed that Mr McMullen made no attempt to gain an unfair advantage from the situation.
Arnold Street (Dayl March) mounted an unsuccessful challenge for the lead.
Hey Mister Taylor (Narissa McMullen) held up for clear running on the final turn and finished strongly once clear.
Race 3 - KELATO ANIMAL HEALTH UP TO NR70 HEAT 2 1660M MS
Golden Sand (Shane Graham) broke in the score up and was out of position when the start was effected – placed out of the draw in mobile barrier races.
Brian Christopher NZ (Brendan Barnes) utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.
King Of Trumps NZ (Alanah Richardson) checked in the score up resulting in the gelding being slightly out of position when the start was effected. Utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.
Race 4 - PRYDE'S EASIFEED EASIOIL VETERANS PACE 1660M MS
Maretti (Brendan Barnes) utilised the sprint lane in the run to the finish.
Misterfreeze (Adam Richardson), the $1.75 favourite, led the one wide line until commencing to give ground approaching the 400 metres. Stewards ordered a post race veterinary examination of the gelding which failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.. When questioned regarded the performance of MISTERFREEZE, trainer J Butler told the Stewards that he was not disappointed with the run as the gelding had raced consistent to its personal best time. He added that MISTAFREEEZE had been slightly tightened by another runner which had briefly hung in slightly near the 400 metres. Mr Butler further added that he would be recommending to the connections that the gelding be given a brief letup. His comments were noted for future reference.
Race 5 - A ROCKNROLL DANCE AT SOMERSET FARMS PACE 1660M MS
Rocknholme (Matt Crone) was out of position when the start was effected. Driver M Crone reprimanded under the provisions of AHRR 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain position behind the starting gate until the start.
Superbon (Brendan Barnes) was held up for clear running until the latter stages of the home straight then finished strongly once clear.
Race 6 - BURWOOD STUD 2YO MAIDEN PACE 1660M
Lucky Jim (Kelli Dawson) Driver Ms K Dawson was fined $200, Ms Dawson having pleaded guilty to a charge issued under the provisions of AHRR156(3) in that, in the run to the finish, she used her whip continuously without allowing the horse time to respond.
Stars Of America (Leonard Cain) broke free of interference approaching the first turn. Having considered the gelding’s recent record Stewards ordered that Star Of America be stood down from racing until its completion of a satisfactory requalifying trial.
GO THE RED (Grant Dixon)underwent a post race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request - stood down for five days on veterinary advice.
Race 7 - SELECTIVE MOTORS ALBION TROTTERS RATING HANDICAP 2138M
Matatoki NZ (Angus Garrard) broke free of interference leaving the fronmyt straight on the first occasion – a warning was issued.
Leesa Castleton NZ (Pete McMullen) broke free of interference near the 1350 metres – a warning was issued.
Race 8 - GARRARD'S HORSE & HOUND PACE 1660M
Williewa Lightning (Joedy Whitaker) caught racing three wide for the first 600 metres, eventually being restrained to the rear of the field.
Gozo Sunshine (Paul Matis) Driver fined $200, Mr Matis having pleaded guilty to a charge issued under the provisions of AHRR156(2)(a) in that, in the home straight on the final occasion, he failed to utilise his whip with a wrist only flicking motion whilst engaging his shoulder.
Race 9 - SUNSHINE STARS YEARLING SALE TROTTERS HANDICAP 2138M
Miss Memphis (Kelli Dawson) stepped and led however broke shortly afterwards – continue out of the draw in standing start races. Broke free of interference leaving the front straight on the first occasion – a warning was issued.
Banff (Grant Dixon) galloped away losing significant ground – placed on its last chance in the draw in standing start races.
Querencia (Alan Donohoe) withstood a strong challenge for the lead near the 1350 metres.
Minnie Bow Tique NZ (Nathan Dawson) mounted an unsuccessful challenge for the lead near the 1350 metres then was restrained to a trailing position behind the leader.
