Supplementary Report – ALBURY 15TH MARCH 2022, Race 6

Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the incident in the above race, which occurred as the field approached the 400 metres that resulted in ILLAWONG ARGYLE falling, causing NICKY KHAN to fall and Driver R Gregory (TERROR OFA SAINT) being dislodged from his sulky. Driver’s R Calleja (ILLAWONG ARGYLE) and S Matson (KEEPCRACKINGJOKES) were interviewed in today’s inquiry. It was established that leaving the 600 metres ILLAWONG ARGYLE hung-in, and was corrected a short distance later. Approaching the 400 metres ILLAWONG ARGYLE hung-in again, and simultaneously KEEPCRACKINGJOKES hung-out slightly, resulting in ILLAWONG ARGYLE contacting the sulky wheel of KEEPCRACKINGJOKES and falling. Stewards were of the view that as there was minimal movement from both runners, no Driver or horse were to blame for the incident and noted the circumstances.
