YOO TRISH– Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 1400 metres and was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

KAMIKAZE SCOOB– Pre-race blood sample.  Commenced to weaken leaving the 1400 metres.  An inquiry was adjourned into the reasons surrounding KAMIKAZE SCOOB and UNSULLY locking wheels resulting in KAMIKAZE SCOOB sustaining a flat near side tyre passing the 250 metres.

ANOTHERBORDER– Checked passing the 1400 metres when avoiding the galloping YOOTRISH.

OUR THUNDER– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

BUSTER REASON– Checked approaching the 1450 metres when avoiding the galloping YOO TRISH.  Stewards questioned driver A Richardson in relation to his decision to improve three wide from the 1300 metres until restraining to the tail of the field passing the 850 metres. Mr Richardson explained that approaching the 1450m he elected to improve forward as the position outside the leader appeared to be available as KAMIKAZE SCOOB was racing some distance off the leader however when he improved towards its outside, KAMIKAZE SCOOB improved and he was unable to muster the required speed to cross and considering the work done in the event, Mr Richardson stated he elected to restrain and drive for luck. Stewards noted his comments.

HARTNETT– Checked passing the 1400 metres when avoiding the galloping YOO TRISH.

UNSULLY– Checked and galloped passing the 1450 metres.  An inquiry was adjourned into the circumstances surrounding UNSULLY and KAMIKAZE SCOOB appearing to lock wheels passing the 250 metres causing UNSULLY to be checked and racing roughly.

RACE 2 – SODENS ALBURY PACE – 1770 metres

CARIBBEAN MAGIC– Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

ROCKS CAN ROLL– Caught racing three wide in the early stages before being required to race wide throughout the event.  Stewards questioned trainer/driver G Pekin in relation to his tactics adopted throughout the event.  Mr Pekin explained that after beginning only moderately he elected to try and press forward to obtain the position outside of the leader however when approaching the outside of MANGOCHILILIME passing the 1300 metres and endeavouring to press forward Mr Pekin explained that ROCKS CAN ROLL was unable to progress forward of MANGOCHILILIME approaching the 1100 metres and he elected to ease his drive and remained three wide for the remainder of the event as he did not feel it would be in his gelding’s best interest to restrain to the tail of the field.  Mr Pekin added that he was quite disappointed and surprised that MANGOCHILILIME did not take cover from his gelding as he believed his gelding’s recent form was superior and would have been a suitable runner to take a trail on. Stewards reported his comments.

FLANEUR– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Checked at the 1450 metres when avoiding the galloping SANDYS IDEAL NZ.

OKINAWA BEACH– Hampered after the start when shifting up the track away from REDFOURTEEN which was galloping to its inside.

GLENLEA HANOVER– Commenced to weaken from the 450 metres to be beaten 60.3 metres and finished in last position.  Stewards questioned driver R Coelli in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of the mare.  Mr Coelli explained that GLENLEAHANOVER had been racing well of recent time and was disappointed in the overall performance of the mare and could offer no further explanation into the disappointing performance.  Trainer R Calleja added that the mare had been racing well and was surprised by today’s poor performance and as a result will look to spell the mare immediately.  In view of the performance and trainer R Calleja’s comments the mare was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial and for a period of 28 days.
