Albion Park, Saturday 28 September

RACE 1

RAGING SEA (5) was a dominant winner last start after being forced to do all the work in a quick mile rate. Draws wide but likely to be hard to be regardless of how things play out in the early stages.

CAPTAIN NEMO (1) has turned his form around in recent starts running on well into fifth two back before finishing in third last time out. Not blessed with brilliant gate speed but may still be able to hold a prominent position early.

DRIVE TO THE BEACH (2) has been competitive in recent outings. Draws ideally and looks a suitable race.

OBI ONE (8) has gotten a long way back in his recent races and made strong late ground at the finish. Looks suited with a cheap run on the peg line can be doing his best work late again.

SELECTIONS: RAGING SEA (5), CAPTAIN NEMO (1), DRIVE TO THE BEACH (2), OBI ONE (8)

SUGGESTED BET: RAGING SEA (5) to win.

RACE 2

DESPONDENT (1) has the gate speed to dictate in the early stages. He took on much stronger company two runs ago and wasn’t beaten far in a race won by Watermelon Sugar who takes on FFA company later in the card.

LUVBITE (9) is rarely far from the placings. He races well up on speed and can be put into the race. Should be thereabouts again.

PROMISING (4) raced off the pegs last start in a race the first 3 horses home all had pegs runs he was the first home off the pegs. He draws awkwardly but looks right in this.

MY ULTIMATE VICTOR (8) trialled sharply recently and has been in top form since joining the stable of Nathan Rothwell. Looks to get a great run through in the early stages.

SELECTIONS: DESPONDENT (1), LUVBITE (9), PROMISING (4), MY ULTIMATE VICTOR (8)

SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE VICTOR (8) each way.

RACE 3

MY ULTIMATE CARTER (4) showed very good gate speed three starts ago to get a half length ahead of the fast Dangerzone in the early stages before fading late. Very good last start when racing outside the leader battled on strongly for second in fast time.

ROYAL SPEECH (6) battled on strongly last start to hold second after doing work in the run outside the leader. Draws awkwardly in this and may need to do the work again.

LOCHINVAR JAG (1) has gate speed which gives him options in the early stages. Was able to win at the trip four starts ago when leading all the way.

BETTERTHANAROCKET (3) worked forward in the early stages two runs ago to sit outside the leader which isn’t something he’s been asked to do through most of his career. Should obtain a good run and be thereabouts again in this.

SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE CARTER (4), ROYAL SPEECH (6), LOCHINVAR JAG (1), BETTERTHANAROCKET (3)

SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE CARTER (4) to win.

RACE 4

LEAP TO FAME (6) the champion returns from a spell without a trial and has landed in a race where he should be able to dominate. He should find the top and it’ll be times and margins from there.

FIRE FOX (1) has the gate speed to dictate in the early stages. If he can be the ones to hand over to Leap To Fame he may be able to hang on for second despite not being ideally suited to a genuinely run 2138.

KINGMAKER (2) was a winner two starts ago. Finished off strongly last start after working away from the pegs.

BRAEDOS LAD (3) has been racing in good form. Was a strong winner two starts ago when holding off Turn It Up over the mile in a sub 1.50 mile rate.

SELECTIONS: LEAP TO FAME (6), FIRE FOX (1), KINGMAKER (2), BRAEDOS LAD (3)

SUGGESTED BET: FIRE FOX (1) to place.

RACE 5

MAJOR MICKEY (6) closed strongly late behind the in form Raging Sea. Draws an awkward gate out wide. Should prove hard to beat with any luck in running.

DANIEL BOOM (5) raced well last start working early to find a position up on the speed. He couldn’t quite reel in Betting Origin but that horse is racing extremely well.

DARIN (3) was certain to win last start before galloping in the home straight. He can be in the finish again if able to obtain a soft run up on the speed.

STUDLEIGH MARK (10) has been racing in near career best form. He did things wrong last start and was still travelling well looking for a run in the concluding stages before finishing off well.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR MICKEY (6), DANIEL BOOM (5), DARIN (3), STUDLEIGH MARK (10)

SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR MICKEY (6) to win.

RACE 6

DANGERZONE (3) was able to lead and win last start after starting a short priced favourite. Likely to prove hard to beat again in a race it appears he may be able to lead again.

MYMATEPOG (2) has good gate speed. Returned after a month between runs last start finishing midfield behind Northview Hustler in fast time.

MOSSDALE TERRY (6) obtained an economical run last time out and just couldn’t make any impression on the first two home. This race doesn’t appear any easier but he should be nearing peak fitness and can figure with luck.

WATERMELON SUGAR (4) hit the line with vigour late behind Northview Hustler. Draws slightly awkwardly but his recent efforts suggest he will be competitive.

SELECTIONS: DANGERZONE (3), MYMATEPOG (2), MOSSDALE TERRY (6), WATERMELON SUGAR (4)

SUGGESTED BET: DANGERZONE (3) to win.

RACE 7

TORQUE LIKE MOTION (8) scored her first win in over a year last time out when running over the top late from near last. Given she is the only horse coming off the back row she has options in the early stages.

WHERE THE BOYS ARE (2) ran on strongly last start to win. Steps up into Band 5 company and draws a good gate to have options in the early stages.

BRONSKI DELIGHT (3) has very good gate speed. Zipped across at the start last time out before finishing off just moderately up the inside late. That was her first run for a month should be fitter and can go well.

PLAYA BLANCA (5) took on a strong race last time out won by Betting Origin in quick time.

SELECTIONS: TORQUE LIKE MOTION (8), WHERE THE BOYS ARE (2), BRONSKI DELIGHT (3), PLAYA BLANCA (5)

SUGGESTED BET: TORQUE LIKE MOTION (8) to win.

RACE 8

SHES FULLOFSPIRIT (10) battled on well for second two starts again behind the smart Aaardie B Miki. Ran well again last start for second behind another smart horse in The Janitor. This looks easier.

NYOTA (9) was desperately unlucky last start shuffled out of it by a tiring runner before finishing off strongly.

SMOKESHOW (2) was running on strongest late last start when finally into the clear. Draws suitably in gate two and should be thereabouts again.

SHES IN LINE (4) ran the gate last start and ended up with a one out one back trail. Was presented early and sustained a good run only tiring very late.

SELECTIONS: SHES FULLOFSPIRIT (10), NYOTA (9), SMOKESHOW (2), SHES IN LINE (4)

SUGGESTED BET: SHES FULLOFSPIRIT (10) to win.

RACE 9

CHICAGO BART (4) has taken on a few strong races in recent outings. He finished down the track behind Chynchilla three starts ago before being well beaten by Bronski Zulu. He draws to advantage in this.

GEM PUNTER PETE (6) was held up last start on the pegs before finishing off well. Lead and won two starts ago after rushing to the front mid race.

TOMAHAWK BART (5) lead and was beaten by Master Charles recently, seemingly having his chance out in front. Ran well last start when taking a trail and finishing off well late up the sprint lane.

MISSED CONSEQUENCES (1) lead against the mares three starts ago and failed to finish it off. Finished off stronger in an easier race at Redcliffe once clear earlier in the week.

SELECTIONS: CHICAGO BART (4), GEM PUNTER PETE (6), TOMAHAWK BART (5), MISSED CONSEQUENCES (1)

SUGGESTED BET: CHICAGO BART (4) to win.

RACE 10

MAJESTIC LAVROS (5) came off the 20 metre handicap last start and went down narrowly to horses off more favourable handicaps which he meets again in this race.

ZEALOUS SPUR (6) was a close second two starts ago behind Victree Hill. Last start he won well running on strongest:

VICTREE HILL (7) is racing in top form having run top two three of his last four as well as winning two starts ago. He has high speed and despite the wide draw is likely to be thereabouts again at the finish.

TOP OF THE MOMENT (1) has very good gate speed and is a horse with a strong finish off the right run. Seems to do his best work when able to obtain a trail.

SELECTIONS: MAJESTIC LAVROS (5), ZEALOUS SPUR (6), VICTREE HILL (7), TOP OF THE MOMENT (1)

SUGGESTED BET: TOP OF THE MOMEMT (1) each way.
