After winning the Breeders Challenge Blue Final with Saint Crusader last year trainer Clayton Harmey will be hoping the pacer can make his way through to the Regional Final this season.

Saint Crusader faces a heat of the Breeders Challenge Regional series at Newcastle tonight and is one of two horses Harmey has in the qualifier with his other starter being recent winner Daniel Boom.

Both Saint Crusader and Daniel Boom won heats of the major series at Newcastle in October.

Daniel Boom has not raced since, however, Saint Crusader finished seventh in the semi-final to Mahomes before finishing fifth in the Blue Final to the same pacer.

There is also a Regional heat for the three-year-old fillies at Newcastle tonight as well as heats for the two-year-olds at Riverina Paceway today.

Riverina horseman Brett Woodhouse has the unbeaten Captains Catch racing in one of those heats.

The gelding has had three starts to date, winning each by generous margins.
